How to fix distorted sound on Chatroulette?

Hi.
I bought my MacBook Pro back in January of 2012. From time to time I would use it to go on Chatroulette. The first month I had no problem with the sound whatsoever. I could hear people clearly and they could hear me too no problem. crystal clear. However lately people have been telling me that I sound like Darth Vader and my voice is very "low pitched or distorted".
I tried playing around with the sound settings on Chatroulette website, re-downloading/re-installing Flash Player and reset my Sound settings from System Preferences. Pretty much I've tried everything I could think of. I am almost certain this is a Flash problem because when I talk to my friends and family on Skype both sound and video are crisp and crystal clear.
Now I was wondering if anyone else has had the same or similar kind of problem and had any solutions to it.

yep....literally the exact same thing with me only I kept mine with the standard features. It's really weak...I wonder if it's something with being banned maybe? or warned a lot or reported as spam??? That happened to me once and to get back on, I had to "hunt for inapropriate people"...aka look for *****'...kinda sucked...I keep mine in my pants FYI. My ipad4 wifi is making screeching sounds while listening to music. Typing makes
scratchy sounds too. Happens when ipad is turned off.

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

How I fixed my 5g's 1.2 'problem'

Ok folks, no rocket science here, but I have been given all sorts of weird and wonderful advice this week about how to fix my 'sounds awful since the 1.2 update' 5G 60GB Ipod, everything from use ipodwizard, it's a hardware fault, to check your fung shieu man,
I've just done this fix and my ipod does everything it used to before 1.2 broke it.
1. Using windows add/remove programs I removed Itunes 7.1
2. I then downloaded Itunes 6.0.5.2 and installed it (it wont run after as your library was saved using itunes 7, so dont bother trying)
3. Then I downloaded / installed / ran Ipod updater 2006-06-28. When it conects to your ipod it will say software is upto date and so install button is greyed out , click restore instead.
4 The ipod will now be left with the old firmware on it (hurrah).
5. Now download and install the new Itunes 7.1 again.
6. When it prompts you to update the firmware on your ipod shout very loudly 'You have got to be b-l-o-o-d-y kidding' and DONT update it.
7. uncheck manage music manually, uncheck disk use, click apply and your ipod will fill its little self back up.
8. NEVER EVER UPDATE THE FIRMWARE again
9. BUY MS's Zunes player ASAP, especially if you have a 360
Like I said this was way easy, but after following many other well meant pieces of advice that didn't work, this was the one thing that did

Hi! I've been having problems on my Zen Micro Photo I got 2 years ago.
For the past few weeks, the sound coming from it has been weird. The vocals are gone, and only some parts of bass and other background are heard.
I thought this was temporary first, since at first, moving the headphones would fix it, but now it isn't. It's not the headphones, since I've tried it with 3 different types...
I've tried the steps to fix "Distorted Sound on Audio Books" at the knowledge base, but there hasn't been any changes.
I've looked at the threads for problems with the headphone jacks, but I can hear the bass and background in both ears...

You could always delete the com.apple.finder.plist file and then restart. Your finder preference file might be hosed.
Another suggestion would be to try it under a different user. Could be a corrupt user preference.
Another idea....if you have a back up drive with OS X you could start up using that system and see if the problem persists.

How to fix sound distortion on an iPod?

I have a 4th generation iPod shuffle. When i use ear buds with it, the sound will be fine at first, but after a few days the sound will start to get distorted. If I mess with the ear buds for a little I can fix the sound for a few seconds. After a while the ear buds will stop working with the iPod all together. If I buy a new pair of ear buds the whole thing starts all over again. The ear buds work fine on my PC regardless of how well they work on my iPod and when I restore my iPod it's work fine for few minutes. Any suggestions?

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
Go to your Finder
Choose the Go Menu
Choose Computer
Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
Choose your "Library" Folder
Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
Empty the Trash
Restart from the Apple Menu
When you are back up and running;
     Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
     Choose Sound
      In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
      Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

I was having an intermittent sound issue and discovered it was related to Bluetooth. Whenever my phone was pairing with a Bluetooth device (handset or car) most of the sound was also being transferred to that device and I didn't realize it. Turning off Bluetooth instantly fixed the issue. Or you can increase the volume (select aux/USB source) and you'll hear the missing sounds!

Try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, double check the volume button just in case. If you still can't hear the tones go into your settings>sounds and make sure the options are on.

OK so the sound on it does not work. It's turned up all the way but nothing is still coming out. When I plug headphones into it, it works just fine and normal but without it, nothing. I looked up on google at the options of how to fix this and they pretty much all said to just turn it off and then back on. It also said to hold the power button until the swipe to turn off pops up and then to dismiss it. Plus one saying to hold both the home and power buttons down. I turned it off and then back on, as well as the other options but still nothing.
Am I doing these things wrong? Is there any other way that this can be fixed?

There is a good possibility that your trimming of the SIM card could have damaged it some way. If the SIM was working in the old phone, then you cut it and the first new phone didn't work and now this phone doesn't work, it leads me to believe it has to do with the SIM card or the account. You are sure there is no problem with the account. Did you check with the provider when you got the iPhone 4 to make sure there was no problem with the account when you could not send or receive SMS? Why can't you just get a micro-sim? The iPhone should have come with one when you purchased it.The iPhone 4 is designed for a micro-sim. I don't believe this is a hardware problem unless the phone has been hacked or modified in some manner.

Having a MBPr late 2013 and having a sound problem the sound does not come tom the headphones even its all the way up and when i remove the headphones it docent come out the internal speaker either ? any idea how i fix this?

Hello. I've been able to play sound without problems through headphones or external speakers to date - the output always switched to these automatically until today. Now, sound output continues through internal speakers even if I plug in headphones or external speakers.
- I tested the headphones and speakers on other devices: they work fine.
- When I plug in headphones or speakers into the audio output port (I have verified that I'm not using the input jack) the devices are not detected and are not listed under the output tab in system preferences-sound.
I concluded from this that I probably had a problem with the audio port, so to test that I tried the following. I plugged a powered multi-USB device with ports for microphone line-in and headphone line-out into the USB port and switched it on. I verified that it was working by plugging a USB stick into the multi-USB device - this was recognised successfully, so the device was clearly working. I then plugged in headphones and speakers into the audio line-out on the multi USB device - but still no sound came through them (and tey were not listed among output devices) and the Mac continued using internal speakers.
What should I do? Does the latter test suggest that the problem does not lie with the audio port, or is my test not conclusive? What would you advise?
