How to fix Enable Restrictions settings passcode

Having problem after loading update IOS 7.0.4. on IPad.  In Settings/ General/ Restrictions = OFF. I want to Enable Restrictions, but the password I use for other Settings is not the same here.  Problem is I never setup a different passcode for Enable Restrictions. This is new ipad received as Christmas gift & first time making changes to settings. How do I fix this issue

Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.
 Cheers, Tom

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome.  I have disabled the above and installed a separate version of Flash player.  I have deleted a "corrupt" Flash folder. I have searched the forums and not found anything that fixes my problem.  I have even subjected myself to the sarcasm of a couple of google help workrs who basically told me I was too stupid to follow directions.
Here is my problem:  no matter what I do, when I use my flashplayer in Chrome I cannot make any changes in the local settings.  Once I have opened them I cannot even close them without logging of off the page.  I am very frustrated.  What more do I need to provide you to solve this?

Thanks for responding.  Here is what I mean:
In several other threads when people said they were having problems (some similar to mine, some not) with the local settings the advice was that the "Flash" folder in the Windows\system32\Macromed file was corrupt and that if it was deleted it would solve the problem.  After one deletes the file and reboots it rebuilds itself.  But, it didn't solve anything for me.

  • How can I get my restrictions settings open if I forgot my passcode?

I need to get or reset my restrictions settings passcode.  Can anyone help?

Sadfully, you have to restore your iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.  Restoring from backup will also restore the unknown Restrictions passcode.

  • How can I change a restrictions passcode without losing all the restricted settings?

We have two iPads for two boys... both are heavily restricted.  One of my boys saw the passcode and I changed it by disabling and then re-enabling restrictions, only to be shocked when ALL MY SETTINGS were reverted to default and DIDNT come back after enabling restrictions again.  How can I change the passcode on the other iPad without losing all the settings, especially the long list of blocked websites?
    Thanks in advance.

What good would the passcode be if you could bypass it like that?

  • HT5594 After updating to iOS7 on my iPhone4 I cannot enable location services. How do I enable location services? I have tried turning off restrictions but that did not work.

After updating to iOS7 on my iPhone 4 I cannot enable location services. How do I enable location services? I have tried turning off restrictions but that did not work.

I finally just resolved this after not being able to enable location services since upagrading to iOS 7. Posting the solution here 'cause I couldn't find it anywhere else.
I enabled Restrictions under Settings > General > Restrictions and created a passcode (I'm not sure if this was part of the solution, but it wasn't enabled for me by default.)
In Restrictions, under Privacy, Location Services was set to "Allow Changes" (This still didn't solve the issue of the greyed-out Location Services switch though - I still couldn't turn it on.)
Also in Restrictions, I also switched "Find My Friends" to "Allow Changes"
Once I did step 3, the switch under Settings > Privacy > Location Services was no longer greyed out and could be switched on.
    Hope this helps!

  • My iphone email account settings is grayed out and I can't add or modify my email accounts. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?  Thanks!

Hi,  My iphone e-mail account settings are grayed out and I can't add or modify my e-mail accounts.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Do I have to reset my phone to make it work?  Will I lose my data?

  • Enable A Guest Account So We Could Save Restriction Settings

How about a setting that will enable at boot up an option to log in main user (admin) or Guest account? And in the main user's restriction settings allow you to configure what apps the guest account can access. Then all you would have to do is set that 4 character password prompt for main user and allow guest to log in without a password. Then depending on your restriction settings you could make this thing a little bit more secure for families and multiple users. Any app purchases would still be under main user and need a password. I think this is doable. So say we all! ?

I guess I don't see it as a personal device. Since it has the ability to replace what most users use a laptop for. iPhone's size was holding it back from being the netbook killer. Now we have the larger version the iPad. iPad's OS has already started of on it's own path from the iPhone OS. So why not just put some chrooted dummy guest account option in it. So the multiple user household can have some way to save restriction settings and protect the main account.
My kids (5 and 3)are very good with my old G4 iBook and 1st Gen iPhone. Although there was that one time my son pulled all the keys off the iBook and the iPhone has been dropped like a hundred times on the hardwood but it still works.
If iPad is going to be a wonderful tool to help educate my kids since I didn't have to show my kids how to work the iPhone. They just figured it out. I hope some good EDU apps come out soon.

    iOS- Understanding passcodes
A Complete Guide to Recover Your iDevice if You Forget Your Passcode
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
         1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
         2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
              and Home buttons.
         3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
             start with step 2 again.
         4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
         5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
         6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • RESTRICTIONS is turned on in my new 5s.  I'm not aware of any passcode so how do I turn Restrictions off?

RESTRICTIONS is turned on in Settings on my new 5s.  I'm not aware of any passcode so how do I turn Restrictions off?

The restrictions passcode can not set itself. It had to be set by you or by someone with physical access to the phone.
You will have to force the phone into recovery mode (google it) and restore it. Set it up as a NEW device. DO NOT restore your backup. The restriction settings are contained in the backup. If you restore your backup, you will  be right back in the same boat you're in now.

    - Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and restore via iTunes. For how to restore: iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    You have to either:
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • I just got my dads old iPhone 4. I restored it to factory settings and set it up with my apple id. The albums in my music are fine in iTunes but on my phone the albums are split and each song is its own album. Does anybody know how to fix this?

My dad has recently gotten a new phone and I got his old one. With his permission I restored it to factory settings and set up the iPhone 4 as a new phone with my apple id. Everything has downloaded fine but I have had many problems with my music. First it was where my phone didnt recognise my apple id, but I  figured that out. Then it was where iTunes took one of my albums and split it so all the songs where their own albums. I fixed the album split on iTunes but its still like that on my iPhone. I have looked online everywhere and I still haven't found a solution! I'm getting super frustrated! Does anybody know how to fix this?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • My iPad 2 is disabled. I know the passcode and apple id. How do I enable it?

My iPad 2 16Gb has been disabled because the wrong passcode was entered too many times. Since purchasing the iPad I never purchased anything from the Apple Store and after a couple years my passcode got misplaced.
A friend of mine in the church where I attend tried to help me and went to iTunes, erased the iPad and downloaded the new software. When it was time to activate the iPad, it demanded my apple id and original passcode at the time of purchase.
I searched and found it in my wallet but the last three characters were uncertain. The salesman used an "up-arrow r" for "R" and counted it as two characters; so the passcode only had 7 characters instead of 8. I thought the up-arrow was a "p" and it could have been capital or common. Then the "r" might have been a "k" because the way I wrote it. After many combinations, I ran out of tries and the iPad was disabled. Eventually I realized it was a "R" but too late.
I visited the Apple Support in my country and they were unable to do anything about it even though I had the right apple id and passcode. The security questions were the problem.
The first security question was my birth date and I was getting that wrong. Why, I don't know. How could I get that wrong. Not even my wife's birth date works. I began to question whether the salesman went through any security questions with us at all.
How do I enable the iPad knowing my apple id and passcode at the time of purchase?

You're facing Find My iPhone Activation Lock, and you will not be able to use you're iPad without knowing the Apple ID and Password used to originally activate it. If you don't remember your password, try: https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid

  • 0x8056530b error enabling disk deduplication on Windows Server 2012 R2 Volume - any ideas why or how to fix?

I'm getting the following error when trying to enable disk de-duplication on a volume on my Windows 2012 R2 file server.  The error is:
"There was an error updating Data Deduplication on volume: MSFT_DedupVolume.Volume='\\?\Volume{8dfc4322-9997-11e3-93f5-005056a84b9b}\' - HRESULT 0x8056530b, The specified volume type is not supported. Deduplication is supported on fixed, write-enabled
NTFS data volumes and CSV backed by NTFS data volumes."
The volume in question is a 1TB VMFS volume mounted to the virtual machine that is the Windows file server.  I could find no info anywhere that references this error as it relates to a standard mounted volume or VMware or VMFS.
Any ideas on what could be the problem or how to fix it?  I could find nothing in the log files other than an entry which is basically a repeat of the error above.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    - ADEHART
P.S. This is a volume that was previously mounted on an older Windows 2003 server.  Not sure if that may make a difference.

have you compared this issue to the ones that are successful and compared what is different?
Have you made sure of the following:
    Servers
See the following list for server requirements for deduplication:
    • Server hardware should meet the minimum requirements for running Windows Server 2012. The deduplication feature was designed to support minimal configurations such as a single processor system with 4 GB of RAM and one SATA hard disk drive.
    • If you plan to support deduplication on multiple volumes on the same server, you need to plan an appropriately size for the system to ensure that it can process the data. The general rule is that the server needs 1 CPU-core and 350 MB of free memory to run a deduplication job on a single volume, and that job can process about 100 GB per hour or around 2 TB per day. Deduplication scales with additional CPU core processors and available memory to enable parallel processing of multiple volumes.
For example: If you have a server with 16 CPU core processors and 16 GB of memory, deduplication uses 25% of the system memory in the default Background Processing mode, and in this case, that would be 4 GB. If you divide by 350 MB, you can calculate that the server could process about 11 volumes at a time. If you add 8 GB of memory, the system could process 17 volumes at a time. If you set an optimization job to run in Throughput mode, the system will use up to 50% of the system’s memory for the optimization job.
    • Data Deduplication supports up to 90 volumes at a time; however, deduplication can simultaneously process one volume per physical CPU core processor plus one. Hyper-threading does not impact this because only physical core processors can be used to process a volume. A system with 16 CPU core processors and 90 volumes will process 17 volumes at a time until all 90 volumes are done, if there is sufficient memory.
    • Virtual server instances should follow the same guidance as physical hardware regarding server resources.
    Volumes
Volumes that are candidates for deduplication must conform to the following requirements:
    • Must not be a system or boot volume. Deduplication is not supported on operating system volumes.
    • Can be partitioned as a master boot record (MBR) or a GUID Partition Table (GPT), and must be formatted using the NTFS file system.
    • Can reside on shared storage, such as storage that uses a Fibre Channel or an SAS array, or when an iSCSI SAN and Windows Failover Clustering is fully supported.
    • Do not rely on Cluster Shared Volumes (CSVs). You can access data if a deduplication-enabled volume is converted to a CSV, but you cannot continue to process files for deduplication.
    • Do not rely on the Microsoft Resilient File System (ReFS).
    • Can’t be larger than 64 TB in size.
    • Must be exposed to the operating system as non-removable drives. Remotely-mapped drives are not supported.
    Note
Files with extended attributes, encrypted files, files smaller than 32 KB, and reparse point files are not processed by deduplication.
