How to fix:  facetime waiting for activation

Iphone 4 on ATT network. My facetime used to work OK before. Recently I noticed that the facetime icon disappeared when in a call, and from the contacts. I found out that in the Settings facetime was off. However, whenever I try to toggle to ON, it stays on waiting for activation, then it fails. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.(MMS and SMS work with no problem).
Thanks

wifi is fine, apple servers r to busy to effectively use facetime and imessages right now is all. and activation error is due to high server traffic as well. keep trying or wait, thats it

    Hi people.
I recently was having that problem with my iphone saying "waiting for activation." All i did to fix it was re enter my appl ID when i switched i message on. This solved the problem immediatley. Give it a try?

For others...  Back up, Erase all content and settings, Restore iPhone (downloads fresh iOS), restore from backup.  Should fix.  You will not lose texts, etc.

  • Imessage/facetime waiting for activation problem on a deactivated iphone 5

    Hello people(:
I was just wondering if anyone out there know how to fix the waiting for activation problem for iPhone 5 on 6.1.4
My iPhone 5 is deactivated so it has no service on it. It has a sim card but the sim card doesn't have service and I'm guessing thats the problem.
But i just wanna make sure that it is or if anyones got a solution.
    Thanks(:
    Need answers please

Well I did a restore of my iPhone 5 (deactivated) using my last iPhone 6 backup (activated) and iMessage still failed to activate.  It's funny because this worked on my old iPhone 4.  I don't know what else I did different.
Does anyone know why Apple does this?  Why are they against us using iMessage on a deactivated iPhone?

  • Imessaging and facetime "waiting for activation"... all imessages come to ipad!  grrrrrrrr!

i just upgraded both ipad and iphone 4s to ios 6.  now only my ipad gets imessaging!   iphone imessaging says "waiting authentication".  how does one fix this?  i thought Apple was supposed to more problem free!

There is nothing to do. That is a status message that appears because you do not have a cellular network data connection. Since you only have Wi-Fi the iMessages will not be associated with your phone number. There is more information on "Waiting for Activation" at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
Note the following quotation from that link:
You can still activate iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID when these status messages appear. You can see that you've activated FaceTime and iMessage with your Apple ID by tapping:
Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:

  • IMessage Facetime Waiting for Activation...

I am currently out of the country trying to use my iphone 4S, and I am not able to use iMessage or FaceTime with WiFi.  After I turn them on in the settings tab, it just says "waiting for activation..."  How do I fix this? I currently have a non-ATT sim card installed and I am able to make calls and regular text messages.  I have tried to restore my phone and it still did not fix this.  Any ideas on how to fix my imessage?

Have you tried all of the following:
If you still can't send or receive iMessages
To send and receive iMessages, your device must have a valid cellular or Wi-Fi data connection.
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    iOS: Troubleshooting cellular data
Ensure that iMessage is turned on in Settings > Messages.
iMessage registration validates your Apple ID for use with iMessage. If you are unable to activate iMessage, try the following:
Sign in to iMessage on your device using a valid Apple ID. After you validate the email address for use with iMessage, other iMessage users can connect to you using that email address. If you encounter issues registering or using an Apple ID account:
Ensure you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at myinfo.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this webpage.
Ensure that your date, time, and time zone are set correctly. If your country has recently made a daylight saving time (DST) change, it may be necessary to manually set the time zone to one that matches your local time.
Check that your email address is verified in Settings > Messages > Receive At.
If Settings > Messages > Receive At shows your email status as "verifying," follow the instructions in the verification email that was sent to complete the process.
Toggle iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages.

  • IMessage & FaceTime waiting for activation (no phone number, only email is showing)

I had a new SIM card from work so tried it out in my iPhone, and then returend back my orginal persoanl SIM card. Since then, iMessage and Facetime is stuck waiting for activation, and trying to verify my wrong number (the SIM I removed). email (Apple ID) is working on both, but strangly it was stuch for days trying to verfiy the wrong SIM (phone number) I had already removed, not the SIM inserted in my iPhone. I tried everything:
    - Eject and insert SIM card.
    - Turn iMassage OFF and ON again
    - Turn Facetime OFF and ON again (then kept it OFF till i reslove iMessage)
    - Updated my Apple ID account and in APP STORE to have my correct phone number.
    - REST all settings
    - REST all Content & Settings
    - REST Netwrok Settings
Now, after a Factory REST through iTunes, my wrong number had been finally removed. However, my correct number is not showing up at all in iMessage or Facetime, stuck waiting for activation (only email works in both)
Any one out there with a fix? please?

  • IMessage and Facetime "waiting for activation" on iPhone4s (Brazil)

I've had an iPhone 3GS for 3 years, had iMessage working perfectly.
On march 16th, i bought an iPhone 4S from my supported carrier, TIM. Since then, I cannot activate my phone number neither in iMessage nor in Facetime.
If I log in my Apple ID, both work fine, but under my email address.
I've been searching for answers since then, tried everything - Date/Time adjustments, reset network config, set up as new phone, restore from iTunes backup, restore from iCloud backup, activate/deactivate iCloud account, setting up my phone number under my Apple ID, even DFU mode, but nothing seems to work.
I reached my carrier, who said there are no issues on my phone line, and thus it must be something that should be solved by Apple.
Sometimes, just trying to turn on iMessage or Facetime will give me an instant popup message on the iPhone saying "iMessage Activation - An error occurred during activation. Try again". If I click "OK" and try to activate it, I get "Waiting for activation" under the iMessage on/off button for about 4 to 5 hours before it says again that my iPhone has not been verifyed and I must try again.
This has been going on for a week now, and I sure hope someone can help me solve this thing.
By the way, I'm running iOS 5.1 on 4S, as I was running iOS 5.1 on the 3GS before.

    TIM
    no link a seguir:

    ABRE ASPAS:
    relatada no passo 3.

  • HT204053 HOW LONG TAKE TO WAIT FOR ACTIVATION OF FACETIME?

how long take to activation of facetime ?

Oh it gets worse.  Originally I was told my new address didn't have Infinity so I would be recieving a Hub 3 for normal broadband.  After spending 2 1/2 hours on the phone on Monday and speaking to several different people within BT I am told that the reason the hub wasn't delivered was that my new home does have fibre cables for Infinity.  Therefore they had cancelled the order for the hub as they assumed I would plug my existing Hub 5 in and use it.  What they absolutely failed to do was to tell me this wasting 5 weeks of my time, frustration, phone calls and emails.  the next day I recieved a home hub 3 in the post!!!!  what I hadn't got was the correct socket on the wall for infinity and I tried to explain, but clearly failed, was that I needed either the socket changing (two BT department advisors couldn't get their head around this one) or I needed a filter to plug into the existing standard socket.  One didn't arrive with the hub 3 so I went out and bought one from ASDA.  I was told that I would recieve a call yesterday to arange for the engineers vist.  they were just going to book a date and time for a visit but I explained that like most people I worked and therefore that is where you would normally find me during the day.  I'm still waiting for that call....
anyway I plugged my Hub 5 in and hey presto in works.  The Mbps speed is absolutely rock bottom, 1.82Mbps, nothin like the 38MBps that Infinity should provide but at least I'm connected to the 20th century.  I waiting a while to see if the speed climbs up to the expected speed over the next few days before I waste another 2.5 hours on the phone to BT trying to get my point across and being told a load of twaddle.

  • IOS 8 iMessage and FaceTime "Waiting for Activation"

I just upgraded my iPhone 5 and iPad to iOS 8 and now I can't get my iMessage and FaceTime to work. When I try to send messages (sms or iMessage) from my phone I get a "Not Delivered" message. I've tried resetting my network settings, I've also messed with toggling on and off the iMessage and FaceTime buttons in settings, and I've also tried setting up my iMessage and FaceTime when on wifi, airplane mode (with wifi) and using my cellular network.
Even though my phone is not registering these changes, I'm getting a popup message on my laptop saying "Email Addresses Added to 'iPhone,'" so it seems like the laptop is recognizing that I'm getting hooked up to iMessage but my phone just work. Anyone else having iMessage or FaceTime problems? do I need to downgrade back to iOs 7?

If you still got this issue, I just solved it on my wife's 5s. After reading a different blog that suggested turning off FT from the Phone settings and then reset. But my wife's phone didn't even had the FT option under settings > Phone so I just did step 2 and it worked.
Step 1) Goto: Settings > FaceTime and turn off
Step 2) Goto: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
After the phone has restarted, search for FaceTime and have fun.
Remember that apple would prefer you are connected to a WIFI source.

Hello, I can understand how frustrating this is.
I spoke to Apple just now, and they're aware. There's no solution, except to wait it out. Because of the 5s launch and iOS 7, Apple's servers are supposedly being hammered. A more senior Apple rep thought there will be delay up to 48 hours.
I have a 5s, and so does my friend. We both have the same issue as you.

iMessage and Facetime won't activate on new iphone 5.  Both indicate "Waiting for Activation."  How do I fix?

I just activated a new iphone 4s and restored from a backup of my former iphone 3gs - had the same problem - Waiting for Activation on both facetime and imessage. I tried all the usual fixes, reset all, hard reset, turn facetime/imessage on and off, and on and on. 2 hours on phone with tech support to no avail.
I just found the fix on my own - no clue if it will work for everyone. But it's ridiculously easy and worth a shot so you don't waste hours and hours resetting/synching as I did.
All I did was go into settings>phone>my number - erase it by touching the ">". Then re-enter it making sure to input with the "+" and country code. For example in the US: +1(508) 569-9901
No hard reset necessary. I went into settings>facetime and imessage, immediately after inputting my phone number again and the dreaded "waiting for activation" message was gone. I tested sending a message - came thru to the other party fine and facetiming another device (my mom's ipad some distance away) and it rang thru with everything working properly i.e., video/audio.

    ACTIVATING FACETIME AND IMESSAGES
Activating Facetime and Imessages on your phone requires the ability to send SMS messages and depending upon where you are that might be an international SMS.  Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages.  If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)).  Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation.  If that does not fix things read the following articles:
