How to fix hp touchpad: blacked out screen that does not turn on.

I had the same problem but I way able to fix it myself. In fact I am blogging here now w my fixed hp touchpad now!!
I don't know much about electronic but I do know that our touchpad is stuck in some mode and is lost and needs rebooting. However our touchpad lacks power maybe because of low battery last time we used it?...I don't know..but here is what I came up with. For those of you who had used external drive will know what I am talking about but the concept is same. Here is what u need. Desktop computer or laptop computer. U need to find out which of the USB port gives the most strongest power. (Often left side of desktop backside port, laptop on the side w less number of USB ports).
1. Plug in ur touchpad to pc. Ur pc will recognize ur touchpad as USB and will want to install something. Let it do so.
2.After when that's done reboot ur over WITH TOUCHPAD STILL LINKED to pc. As the over reboot push the cetner button w power button at same time as ur pc reboot. Than u will see an USB logo on ur touchpad.
3. Ur touchpad now is in power! Unplug it from pc and get a wall charger and charge it while u do the next step.
4. hold the volume up button w power button at same time. U should see a blue screen for less than one second. Than an hp log. Ur.now in safe mode. U don't enter to mess anything up so turn it off by using the power button once again.
5. Finally turn it back on and give urself a treat. U have just solved ur problem!
hope this helped. If not shoot me an email and I will fill u in w more detail or something...
Or comments below could help too. Positive feedbacks I hope ;-)
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

Glad your solution worked for you, but to properly charge a TouchPad, you need to use the charger that was included with the device!
Many "black screens" have been caused by HP shipping defective micro USB cables with the device - I received one myself with a brand-new unit, and it failed to provide a charge.
Just about all USB ports cannot provide enough mA to fully charge it.  USB ports are usually limited to 500mA, while the charger outputs 2,000mA.

  • How to fix an ipod touch 4th generation that will not turn on or charge

    My ipod touch 4th generation randomly turned off and will not turn back on or charge.  I have tried restarting it, resetting it, and letting it "charge" for weeks but nothing has worked.  It is not registered by itunes when plugged into the computer either and there hasn't been anything dramatically done to it.  I also cannot do anything to update its software since it isn't being recognized by itunes or turning on.
    Thanks in advance to whoever has helpful information!

  • How to get photos off my iphone 4s that does not turn on

    i have nearly 2,000 photos on my iphone 4s, but my iphone just stopped working, wont turn on, i just really want the photos off thats all ive tried holding both buttons for ages and still nothing, can someone help me pls

    On a Windows PC the easiest way to get pictures from your iPhone is to just use Windows Explorer.
    1) Plugin your iPhone to your PC
    2) Open “My Computer”
    3) Find your iPhone, it will appear as any other camera would
    4) Open iPhone to find your Photos
    5) Select the pictures you want to copy to your computer and copy/ paste them into the desired location on your PC.

    I have areas of my iPad screen that does not respond to touch. Is that normal?  The areas are random and not always in the same place.  Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

    Have you tried rebooting it by holding the home and on button until the Apple logo appears?

    Does the app now use iCloud, do you use iCloud and do the two of you use the same account on iCloud?
    Just a guess.

  • Can i hook up a new macbook air to my older imac screen that does not have a thunderbolt i/o?

    can i hook up a new macbook air to my older imac screen that does not have a thunderbolt i/o? if not - what can i do to view on a larger display? thanks in advance for any help!!!

    You should be able to get an adapter that will change the Thunderbolt out to a DVI or HDMI out, and connect that to an external monitor.  I am not sure what connection your iMac screen has, or if it even HAS input capability.  I know that the 27' iMac BEFORE it was given the Thunderbolt ports had MiniDP input.  If your iMac is any older than that one, I am not sure. But the adapter should allow you to output to any DVI or HDMI display, depending on which adapter you get.

    Help Diggs1936

    I would try reinstalling.
    Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
    OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
         Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
                     if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    You can use the Settings in the slideshow to Show Captions,  either the Description filed be display, the Title field or both.
    If you create the slideshow in iDVD from still photos from iPhoto you can add the Description and/or Title via the settings in iDVD.
    Since iDVD adds both automatically the user must go thru the slideshow and remove those items not wanted.

    Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  See if that clears the glitch.

  • How to stop Timer event inside movie clip that does not exist?

    Hello. I am using Adobe Flash CS6.
    As this topic title says. how to stop Timer event nside movieclip that does not exist?
    I mean my fla stracture is  there are 2 frames on main timeline, and I put mcA on frame 2.
    And I put a button on root that does
    if(currentFrame ==1)
    gotoAndStop(2);
    else if (currentFrame ==2)
    gotoAndStop(1);
    And mcA has AS inside and it is
    var T_Timer:Timer = new Timer(1000,0)
    T_Timer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, test)
    function test(e:TimerEvent):void{
    trace("Timer active")
    T_Timer.start();
    I need to stop T_TImer from root on frame 1, not on frame 2.
    but, "mcA.T_Timer.stop();" won't work.
    I get TypeError: Error #1010 error.
    I don't know how to stop this timer event. I have to stop it from root, and I can't use EVENT_REMOVED in this case.

    If the object doesn't exist you cannot do anything relative to targeting it.  Maybe you should move the timer to the main timeline where you can access it any time.

  • HT1551 How do I fix a 2nd generation Apple TV that does not restore to factory settings after a failed installation of software update 6.0?

    Yesterday, I got asked by my 2nd generation Apple TV if I wanted to update download and install the new software update. I clicked "Yes" and the download and installation process began. Nothing out of the ordinary happened and when the installation completed the Apple TV automatically rebooted itself, which is what has happened with previous software updates.
    Alas, after reboot, the only thing that appeared on screen was an old iTunes logo (the one with the CD in the background) and what looked like a USB cable. I went online and found out that other people had been experiencing similar problems with the newly released Apple TV 6.0 update and that they had also ended up with the same image on their screen.
    As it turns out, this image apparently means that you need to restore your Apple TV to factory settings by hooking it up to your computer using a micro-USB cable and then using iTunes to restore it in a way analogous to restoring an iPhone via iTunes.
    I followed all of the instructions to the letter such as disconnecting my Apple TV from all cables including the power cord and then hooking it up to my computer with the micro-USB cable. I opened iTunes and absolutely nothing happened. The Apple TV does not appear as a device so I am not able to restore it.
    I have attempted rebooting my computer and leaving my Apple TV disconnected for a while before hooking it up to my computer since it apparently has an internal baterry that keeps a charge for about 30 seconds after being disconnected. Nothing has worked.
    Any ideas on how to fix this?
    System configuration:
    Apple TV 2nd generation running update 5.3
    iTunes version 11.1 (126)
    Mac OS X 10.8.5 on an Intel Core 2 Duo

    Did you follow the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367
    Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.
    Also some microUSB leads don't seem to work - try another if you can. Disconnect superfluous USB device/hubs too if possible.
