How to fix ipad2 stuck in recovery mode. I tried reconnecting to itunes and it did not work.
Thanks

Hi aaaaherman,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPad 2 is in recovery mode and you’re running into an issue restoring it.
Take a look at the article linked below which provides a lot of great information about recovery mode, including details about the restore process and what to do if the device isn’t recognized by iTunes.

How to fix iphone 5s stack recovery mode..i have tried So many ways and aloso tryed with  3rd party software but nothing happens...i trying with iTunes but error 14  message appare..i am from bd that's why in my country doesn't have any apple service center

Error 14 is typically a hardware failure, but can be caused by security software...anti-virus, firewalls, etc. Given what you've posted, I suspect a hardware failure, & if that's the case, you won't be able to restore the phone. You'll need to find a service center to confirm.

my  ipad i have been restore it yesterday my computer shut down in the middel now my ipad2 stuck in recovery mode and cant be detect by itunes and it is jaikbroken ?

Try these steps. If it doesn't work the first time, try a second time.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off. (If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.)
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. (Note: If you see the screen that shows you are out of battery, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.)
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode..."
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    Hope this helps!

  • Ipad2 stuck in recovery mode and will stuck restore

While trying to download ios 5, ipad2 64gb, got stuck in recovery mode.  I am using windows 7, updated to iTunes 10.5.  I did restore with iTunes - about 20 times.  No luck.  bf installed iTunes 10.5. and it asked to restore to facotry settings.  So far, seems to be working.  hopefully i can then add all the apps saved on my pc.  Why did this happen?  Had the same problem with my iTouch and I did the initail update on a different pc, diffent os.
    Thanks

  • Ipad2 stuck in recovery mode following upgrade attempt

    Hello,
I tried to upgrade my iPad (after endless prompts from Apple) but it fails near the end, and is now stuck in what I guess is "recovery mode".  I see a symbol of a plug and the red iTunes icon.  I do not want to restore the whole iPad - I have no idea whether my things are backed up on iCloud - because that usually gets some sort of error message too.  How can I just get the thing to unfreeze and go back to the operating system?
    Many thanks,
    Patricia

Yes, there is a way to get out of Recovery Mode. This link is to an Apple Support page that describes the steps to take to get your iPad working again.
Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
Once the iPad has been Recovered you can restore your data from a recent backup if you have one. If you don't periodically backup your iPad this is a good lesson into why you should. All computer and computer like devices can experience problems where data loss occurs.
If you do not have a backup, you can recover all purchased or downloaded apps and music without paying for them again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you used to download the stuff originally.

  • Jailbroken iPad2 stuck in recovery mode.

My iPad 2 has been jailbroken twice. The first time it was jailbroken i had no idea and i updated the ipad and it got deleted. jailbreak was put back on my ipad and it hasnt been updated since. Lastnight my niece decided she wanted to update it for us. She did the update without plugging into iTunes. After the update finished it rebooted, but it showed i needed to connect to itunes. i connected to itunes and it said the ipad is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. i cant restore it because none of my files are backed up.i need it out of recovery mode so i can back up the ipad and then restore it. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!

You can make the choice to have a non functioning iPad and keep all of your files - which won't do you any good because the device doesn't work - or you can bite the bullet and restore the iPad and have a functioning device again - of course without any of your files.
What makes more sense - having all of your files on a device that you can't work with or retrieve your files from - or have a device that works like it should? Seems like a no brainer to me.

  • Iphone stuck in recovery mode trying to update

I was attempting to update to the new ios 8. I did this all in the normal way as i usually do. When it got to the extracting software at the top of the itunes screen it took about 1 hour for this to nearly reach the end. then just before it reached the end it stopped and said it could not be restored as the iphone could not be found. now the iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode and every time i connect it to itunes it says i need restore which i do and then the same thing keeps happening. it goes to extracting software bar for an hour and then stops just as it is about to finish.
i have a laptop with windows xp and have installed latest itunes, i have attempted rebooting everything with no joy.
    please help.
    iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.4

Follow exactly what I wrote below to fix iPhone stuck in recovery mode:
Hold both power button & home button for 10 seconds.
Once the device shuts off release the power button and keep holding the home button for 10 more seconds.
The screen will remain black, plug it up to iTunes and see if it detects it.
If that does not work hold both buttons to make device shut down, once screen is off hold the home button while plugging it up to PC.
Do not let go of home button till recovery screen shows up on your device.

Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. Also, discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user. If the issue remains, Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Iphone4 stuck in recovery mode after failed attempt to update OS. how to fix?

    Hi,
I tried to update my iPhone software (after successfully backing up to iCloud, and then successfully updating iTunes software) but got a 1604 error message.  The phone is stuck in recovery mode, and all attempts to restore the phone have resulted in failure.  I keep getting the same error message.  Basically, the phone never gets past "preparing to restore."  Please help.
I am linking my iPhone 4 to a PC Windows XP Professional, with up-to-date software.  This is the third time I've tried (and failed) to update the iPhone software, though the other two times I was able to restore.  This time nothing seems to be working.  Please help!  Thanks.

Look what google found! Amazing how that works eh?
