How to fix Lightroom 5.6 crashing when backing up catalog database (external AND local backup) - Mac 10.9.5
How to fix Lightroom 5.6 from crashing when backing up catalog database (external AND local backup) - Mac 10.9.5
It starts to cue and within 3-4 seconds, the program just crashes hard. As stated, I tried it on local hard drive and external. Same result...
In the destination backup folder, it will copy over one folder, no images.
Thanks ahead of time.

I am at the point where I get this almost every time I start up Lightroom (5.7) Standalone. I know how to fix it (delete .Irdata file) but how do I stop it for good?
All I can provide is a guess ... one reason this might be happening is because your hard drive has a bad sector(s), so if I were you, I would investigate to see if there are any problems with your hard disk.

How to fix Premiere Elements 12 crashing when adding media from flip or camera.
I am using Premiere Elements 12 on an HP Pavilion g6. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. I am connecting a Verizon LG Lucid, trying to load video from my phone to my computer via Premiere. After selecting "Add Media" and "Videos from Flip or Cameras", Premiere freezes, then crashes.
The strange thing is, I have been able to load videos from this phone before without a problem.Sellers13
At this point, are you OK with editing your cell phone video in Premiere Elements 12?
From what I have read of your cell phone, you should be using the project preset of
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR 1080p30
Are you?
Are you setting the project preset manually before you import the video or letting the program take over the project preset setting task as it does by default?
You can check the project preset that was set by going to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and seeing what the readings are for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio.
Assuming all that is OK, is your video and audio in sync when you play back your video from the Expert workspace Timeline?
If so, great.

Lightroom crashes at start up with the error message "Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit". Please advise on how to fix this error. Thanks
You probably need to delete your preview cache. See here

I recently updated my HP laptop's OS from WIndows8 to WIndows8.1. When I went attempted to open Lightroom5 I got the following message:
"Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. "
"Lightroom will attempt to fix the problem the next time it launches"
Every time I relaunch I get the same message. I'd like to understand what might be causing the problem so I can remedy and get back to my photo editing. Any clue as to how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

My transparency does not work on my iPhone and I was wondering how I fix that? It worked when I first downloaded ios7 but not now.
Hello wilsontot_too,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing on your iPhone. It sounds like you are not noticing transparency on your iPhone. It may be that you have "Increase Contrast" turned on in your iPhone settings.
I recommend verifying that Increase Contrast is turned off in Settings>General>Accessibility.

I have deleted the file but the message persists even after restarting the computer....any advice??...I am using LR 5
You don't delete a file, you have to delete a folder. Is that what you did?
If you deleted the folder specified above, and you still get the message, then it's the wrong folder. Use your operating system's search function and find ALL folders on ALL disks whose name ends with Previews.LRDATA, delete each one found, and then try opening Lightroom. -

"Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit. Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem the next time it lauches". What do I do? I get the msg each time I try to open it.
It isn't a file, it's a folder. It will have the same name as your catalog, but will have the extension data. It will be in the same folder along with your catalog. If you need to use the search feature to search for *.lrdata.

I get the following window on loading Lightroom 5.7 -
Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit.
Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem next time it launches.
I have tried several restarts, without success. Also reinstalled Lightroom; no joy
Any suggestions?Using your system browser (Windows Explorer or Finder), open the folder that contains your catalog. In Windows it is in your pictures folder and then in a Lightroom folder. Inside of the Lightroom folder you will find another folder that has the extension .lrdata. It will have the same name as your catalog except for the extension. You need to delete that folder, and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder, and you should be back in business.

Lightroom 4.4 keeps crashing saying "Lightroom encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit" please help. I've tried reinstalling it and everything Windows 8.1
I assume you know where your catalogue file (the lrcat file) is located. In the same folder is a previews lrdata folder which you should delete or rename in Explorer, then start LR again.
If I've made incorrect assumptions above, sorry, and we'll go back over it from the start.

My Lightroom CC always crash when it is trying to upload the preview of big images
My Lightroom CC always crash when it is trying to upload the preview of big images like photo merge images from 3 or 4 RAW images together. Thank You. Marco
When Lightroom first displays the image, it shows the JPG preview which includes your camera custom white balance settings. (This is probably also what you see in Finder)Then a few seconds later it renders the RAW image, with none of the JPG editing and with none of your camera settings applied. That is what you see in Lightroom.
There is no way to turn this off.
You then need to apply your own Lightroom edits to this RAW image to make it look pleasing.
