How to fix my ipod touch?

My iPod is fifth generation touch. Its cracked along with the home button not working. It also was working fine and not it doesnt work at all or charge. The screen is black. Should I fix it and then do a hard reset? I am very upset!

If the computer/iTunes does not see the iPod then there is no way to get anything off the iPod.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
You can do it at an Apple store by making an appointment:
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
or send it in to Apple. See:
Service Answer Center - iPod
A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
Replace the screen yourself if you are up to it

how to fix my ipod touch, because everytime i use or i play games sometimes it will turn off/closed/lock....how to fixed that problem

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
if still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How to fix a ipod touch that is disabled

My Ipod touch says that its disabled and I don't know how to fix it.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPod into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:

  • How to fix ur Ipod touch if it didn't connect to ur itunes

Here's one of the ways I fix mine after one month of frustration.I realized that if anyone just got Windows vista and has not formatted their computer then it will not load up because vista doesn't know what to update. So the best way is to format it but make sure u save your personal stuff on a USB drive or disc before fomatting ur computer so u still have all ur stuff and as for ur programs just reinstall it all again.
2.Or the other way is to go to another computer from ur friends or family who has windows xp and plug in ur ipod and it updates ur ipod touch on there computer to the new firmware 1.1.3 or u can add or edit ur music, movies and others from their computer. It will work on vista if u bought the computer with it but if u upgraded to vista then u need to format ur computer but make sure u save ur things first on USB or disc like music or documents.
This is just one of the ways if u need to listen to ur music or have ur things on ur ipod uploaded.I don't know if this will help but it work for me finally.

  • How to fix an iPod touch that does not charge but gets hot in the lower back area?

I have a 3rd generation iPod touch 32gb and it will not turn off, nor will it charge. Plugging in to my computer, iTunes does not even detected. Even if I leave it to charge, it does not detect it. The odd thing is that it get really hot in the lower back area of the iPod. It is hot to the touch, as though it were 80 degrees+. Anyway for me to fix this?
The iPod is way out of warrenty, so I wonder if a Genius bar appointment will even help me. But I will give them a try.

Replace the battery.  If that does not work, then system board is toasted...

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:
    Disabled Recovery-must use syncing computer.

  • Please Help! How to fix my ipod touch that got covered in garlic butter?

So I had it on the counter in the kitchen and of course it got covered in garlic butter and now the screen looks glittery and is very dim. I have had it in some rice for some time now and it seems to be helping with the garlic butter but not with the dimness as much. I would appreciate any help you give me because I do not feel like buying a new ipod touch. Thanks!

Purchase a bottle or a few packs of iKlear Apple Polish, and clean the surface of your Touch with a microfiber cloth. The good news is that the assembly of the Touch is quite tight. If you fear there may be a problem with greasy liquids seeping inside, I'd strongly suggest having a specialist clean it securely. http://www.ipodjuice.com/apple-ipod-touch-repair.htm#ipod-touch-repair
Prophyactially, I might suggest investing in a Zagg skin. They've had a sale recently, and offers full-body protection against grease, or even nicking and scratching. And butter.

  • How to fix an ipod touch 4th generation that will not turn on or charge

My ipod touch 4th generation randomly turned off and will not turn back on or charge.  I have tried restarting it, resetting it, and letting it "charge" for weeks but nothing has worked.  It is not registered by itunes when plugged into the computer either and there hasn't been anything dramatically done to it.  I also cannot do anything to update its software since it isn't being recognized by itunes or turning on.
Thanks in advance to whoever has helpful information!

  • How to fix a iPod touch 4th generation lock button?

so I went to apple to see if they could fix my lock button. They said i would have to pay a replacement cost of $99 and i already did to because I cracked the screen a few months ago. So there is no way that i will pay it again, IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO GET IT FIXED?

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If the Genius can't unstick it:
    - They will exchange it at no cost if the iPod is defective, within warranty and not abuse.
    - otherwise the exchange price is $199 for 64 GB on and $99 for the others.
