How to fix "no sim card" message?

I keep getting the "no sim card installed" message when I'm in the middle of a phone call (iphone 4).  I turn the phone off then on and that seems to help but it happens again eventually.  Has happened every time I'm talking on my iphone in the past two days!

Virgin use the Optus network here in Australia - which is why, the 3G phones showed you connected to the Optus network, and not to the Virgin network...They don't have their own network, they piggyback on Optus - which is why it would show that it is locked to Optus!
They also said they would unlock my iPhone 4 - which has been done!  So there's obviously something wrong with the phone...

By inserting a sim card into the phone!!
If there is a sim card in the phone, then take it out and re-insert it.

The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

Or if you've recently got the phone unlocked then you'll need to connect it to  itunes and then do a fresh restore to unlock it ,although for most users simply connecting to itunes for few seconds did the trick.

Try resetting the phone. Hold the home and power lock button until the Apple logo appears. If that does not work, turn the phone off and take the SIM out and then put it back in.
If that still does not work, you may have a defective SIM, in which case you will need a new one from your carrier.

how can i fix "the sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported " after restoring a factory unlocked iphone 4

The term "factory unlocked" has no meaning. Your phone was not legitimately unlocked. Contact the carrier it is locked to and find out if you can get it unlocked.

  • No signal, no sim-card message

    Hello,
iPhone 4 shows me a "No sim-card" message and losing a provider's signal periodically after upgrading to OS6. Can I fix this problem somehow?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sergey

    Thanks for reply.
I tried removing/reinserting the sim. Sometimes it helps sometimes not.
The same thing with the turning out/turning on the iPhone.
Reinstalled iOS yesterday and restored all info via iCloud. Didn't help.
Can it be any kind of a bug or just a problem with a sim-card?
    Thanks.

  • "No sim card" message on ipad

How do I get rid of the "no sim card" message on my ipad?

You get the "no SIM" message popping up when Wifi connectivity is lost on a 3G/4G capable iPad which has no SIM installed. Check your wifi set up for intermittent issues.

  • IOS 6.1.2 : "no sim card" message

    Hi,
since I upgraded to iOS 6.1, my iPhone 4 started to lose the phone network frequently : each time I took an elevator or I took the subway, it was enable to get back on it. It just displayed "no service"
After I upgraded to 6.1.2 but the problem got worse. Now my phone sends "no sim card" message several times a day. I need to turn the flight safe mode on and off and re-enter my PIN to re-activate the SIM card. The problem even occurs during the night when the phone is untouched in a place where the reception is good.
Before iOS 6.1 the problem didn't exist, I thought about downgrading but I understood there's no way to do that.
Does anyone experience the same ? Any idea ? Magic trick to fix it ?

I also download update 6.1.2 and now have no wifi or blue tooth connection tried all the restores and tried while connected to I tunes, hurry up and fix this apple the silence is deafening

  • Does anyone have "No sim card" message after upgrading to iOS 7.0.2 on an iPhone 4 ?

    Hello,
I've upgraded my iPhone 4 (8 GB model - GSM) to the new iOS 7.0.2 version yesterday evening and strangely enough he restarted fine, but with the "no SIM card" message. After having pulled out and put back in the micro SIM card several times without success, I've restored the iPhone completely to the 7.0.2 update, but the problem still lasted.
I've personally solved the issue by downloading the original 7.0.0 IPSW file and forcing iTunes to restore it: push on Option/Command key while clicking on the restore button in iTunes after putting the iPhone in DFU mode by pressing the Home button when powering on . After the restore everything works fine again and I had just to unlock my Sim Card the regular way in order to activate.
Therefore I'm wondering if anyone else has also encountered this problem and if someone could explain me the origin of this issue.
I'm living in Belgium (Europe) and using Belgacom Proximus as carrier.

HOW CAN I CHANGE SIM CARD TO NANO CARD?

Just contact your network provider & they will issue you with a nano sim card & transfer your phone number over to it.
I did this with Vodafone (UK) on my current sim only plan and the new nano sim card was live with my original number within 20 minutes of leaving the shop.

You can't erase the info on the SIM, and you'll need your SIM for your next phone, I guess.
To delete all the info on the phone, set it up as new device, without using any backup to restore from, explained in this article:
