How to fix NTFS-3G on OSX Mavericks?

After upgrade to OSX Mavericks, I get error when I start up:
NTFS-3G could not mount /dev/disk0s4 at /Volumes/BOOTCAMP because the following problem occurred:
/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) link error; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). the MacFUSE file system is not available (71)
I need some help in fixing this error.

This just seems like FUD to me - if by "forever changing" you mean "last changed in 2001" (v3.1 was released in 2001). Microsoft (at least to my knowledge) hasn't been changing the standard. The real issue is that the internals to either Apple's HFS+ or Microsoft's NTFS are openly available.
I thought this was solved back in 1999 or so when the iMacs could finally read "Windows formatted 3.5" floppies." It seems to have just gotten worse since then though. Unfortunately, the "standards" ChinaGamerGuy above points to are not openly available and hence there is little software (outside of windows) that reads NTFS. Linux supports it (the NTFS-3G code), but I don't think Apple would supply it because the code is GPL'ed.
And they have no motivation to, either. For both Apple and Microsoft it's just another way to provide vendor "lock-in". I wish we could just chose a standard filesystem for all computers (or at least open the standards up) so that we the consumers don't have to deal with this inanity and can just get on with using these system as tools...

How to fix NTFS Internal permissions error in 10.8

I have a new Mid 2012 MacPro tower. I have one 3TB drive and one 2TB drive installed but formatted as NTFS. Reason for the formatting was to try to get them to work in Parellel as well.
I was running iTunes and Transmission at same time. iTunes on the 2TB and Transmission on the 3TB. Both programs locked up my tower. When I rebooted both drive show "Sharing and Permissions" to Read Only. When brought up in diskutitlity they both show Owner's Enabled to NO.
How do I get them back to Yes, so I can work with them?
I don't have an external enclosure to have windows fix them.

I was fine the drives for the past week. I do have MacFuse and Perian installed. Just when I had iTunes and Transmission up the programs crashed. When I force quit the system was slow and freezing. After force shutdown it changed the permissions on me to Read-only.
I tried adding a new user to the computer and logging in under it and still the drive is read-only. My video drive that has my movies on it I could turn back to MacOS after backing up the files with no issue if needed. But my iTunes drive (the 2TB drive) pulled my files from my old tower which was WinXp, so some of the folder were named same just with upper case here and lower case there. Makes it that the drive has to stay as NTFS.

I have aperture 3 on Disc how do i install on MBP (OSx Mavericks)

Hi all, I have downloaded a trial version and started by putting in my Serial number frm origional disc.....all this worked fine, however now it wont open because apeture 3 is not compatable with OSx mav, the app is not on the desktop and is greyed out in the application list.

if you are running Mavericks you first have to update Aperture to version 3.5.
You should see the update at the AppStore in the Updates pane.
If it is not showing, try to update first by running Software update from the -menu in the upper left corner of your main menu bar. If no updates are shown, download the last update from the support page:
Aperture 3.4.5
and install that. Then try update again at the App Store.
For the update to show at the AppStore, you must be signed in with your AppleID and Aperture must be installed in the Applications folder and simply called "Aperture", not "Aperture Trial" or something.

my MacBook doesn't login to my wlan-network automatically anymore.
It takes minutes until the list of nearby networks and the message "No known network available" appears, despite the fact that my network is listed. When i click on it, I am connected. How can I reset wlan settings, so that I am connected automatically as it should be?

Howdy evenwerk,
It sounds like you are losing internet connection intermitently, and the only way to get connected again is to turn your Wi-Fi off then back on. The next time that it happens, I would use the Wireless Diagnostics to help diagnose the issue.

Tried to connect external usb drive and got thel following message:

Other t han Paragon NTFS for OS X which has been supported and works fine the others have had trouble since 10.7.3 era.
I use both Paragon NTFS and also their HFS+ for Windows. The demo is fully functional for 10 days and is under $20 (may be on sale too).
The software that some drive cases come with are often the source of trouble and best not to install, and to reformat the drive as well.
I believe Paragon has a utility to convert a drive to/from NTFS and HFS but check their site.

HOW TO FIX MOUNT ISSUE ON OSX 10.8.3 AND ENCRYPTED EXTERNAL DRIVES

OSX version 10.8.3 doesn't mount my encrypted external drive (MAC OSX extended journalled encrypted). When I enter my password the window greys out and stays there forever without mounting the drive. I have two seperate drives on this HDD ( one Fat and the other one journaled encrypted) the Fat one mounts without any roblem. The only option in the first aid tab is verify disk and everything else is greyed out. Resault of verify is "Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Click Repair Disk." but I can't run repair since it is greyout.

If the volume won't mount, you can't repair it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:

I already use iCloud, and I'm looking for the iCloud equivalent of SyncServices (or something other than the suggestions I've found, so far, that will reset iCloud sync). That's what it seemed you were looking for: a way to reset sync in Mavericks, as opposed to a way to sync in Maverics. (Essentially.)

That said, there's no evidence that Apple has ever "mined" clients' data or would even care to. You're free, of course, to not like the idea of syncing via Apple's servers. But to suggest that Apple "chose to switch off SyncCervices" in order to "give themselves a bigger database of client data to mine" is simply unfounded.
I'm always amused at the notion that despite Apple having hundreds of millions of customers, a given individual is somehow convinced that Apple would care about his data.
Apple doesn't care about your calendar. Or your contacts. Seriously.
Think of the many thousands of celebrities and dignitaries who use Apple products. If Apple were paying any attention to their data, let alone doing anything with it, the revolt and backlash would be legendary. I personally know many people who have the contact info for hundreds of celebrities and such in their Apple Contacts and Calendar apps, and not one breach has ever, ever occurred.
Consider the unfortunate security breach that Target sustained, last week. It's been all over the news, every single day, for nearly a week. If Apple were doing anything of the sort, no one would stand for it. No one! Apple has far too much to lose to do something stupid like that. And to what end? So they can see where a user's having dinner? Or what time his staff meeting is? Even a celebrity's calendar is pointless. What good would it do Apple to know that Charlize Theron's having lunch with Ewan McGregor. None.
You seem like an intelligent guy. If you think through what you're proposing, you'll realize Apple would stand to gain nothing by doing what you suspect -- and in fact would stand to lose everything.

Multibutton mouse- how do I enable it in OSX Mavericks?

I can't find it in preferences and I've searched everywhere. I checked "mouse" in preferences and there is no option to enable or disable multibutton mouse. I also checked assessibility and can't find it.

Get third-party mouse software. I suggest USB Overdrive... or SteerMouse. If software for the Mac came with the mouse then you can use it.

OSX Maverick iMac Resolution: stuck at 640x480. How do I fix this?

This is my iMac:
- 21.5 inch
- late 2012
- 2.9 Ghz Intel Core i5
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512MB
- OSX 10.9.2
After updating to Mavericks, the screen resolution somehow got stuck at 640x480 and I'm unable to change it. Going into display settings and holding down the "options" key, does not show ANY display resolution options (see image attached). Any ideas on how to fix this?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

How To fix spaces in OSX Mavericks

I upgraded to OSX Mavericks and have dual monitors, however the only time that spaces work is when I am mirroring my displays. My monitors are aligned one above the other as opposed to left to right. How do fix this very annoying issue?

Open System Preferences. On the Mission Control page, make sure that "Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use" is unchecked.

I notice I failed to list my system...Late-2012 i7 iMac, 3TB Fusion, OS X 10.9.3, 32GB RAM.
Update. Google has confirmed the problem and I find it also exists in Photoshop CC 2014.
After some testing I've discovered a slightly inconvenient work around that works in Photoshop CC 2014, I haven't tested it in Photoshop CC
A 'simple' work around is to select Preferences->Performance... then uncheck "Use Graphics Processor", click OK to exit preferences, select Preferences->Performance... and check the "Use Graphics Processor" box again, quit Photoshop, restart Photoshop. The brush pattern is again shown.

How do I set up the Mac to allow it to access my wife's e-mail too, either in the same mail inbox or a separate one. Simple instructions please!

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.

My backup plan is to use Time Machine to make a backup to an external disk drive plus I also do a clone of my system disk. So far between the bootable clone and the Time Machine backup this plan has covered all of my needs.
