How to fix pictures on address book after importing ?

I have drag and drop the picture on a contact and it's has gone distorted. It happens many times and i am not sure why it happens. I have to reimport the photos to certain contacts. Is there a way to solve this issue ?

I've been trying to print labels not envelopes and I'm having the same problem.
I've noticed that this problem was first reported in 2005 (arquived) and it is still not solved! Hello, Apple! One of the recommendations given in 2006 was to select the group you want to print, go to print, select advanced, click on dropdown menus where it says "copies & pages" and select "address book," you will see "lay-out" and "labels' -- select "labels", click on "addresses" and then select "distribution list <namelist> -- It doesn't work for me because when I select "distribution list> I get a blank page saying that "there are no addresses available." Note that just before selecting "distribution list" I could see all my labels. PLEASE HELP!

For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. want to know how to add pictures to address book that DO NOT appear as fullscreen images on the iPhone but remain as icons with the iPhone background visible (see attached image). for some reason, all new contacts added through Mountain Lion appear as fullscreen caller ID images.

Welcome to the Apple community.
Your address book should have migrated along with your move. If it hasn't go to groups, in "on my mac" group select all the contacts that appear on the right-hand side and drag them to your "iCloud" group.
Once you have done this you can then delete the contacts from your "on my mac" group.

While in the Address Book press the Menu and than Options. Just type in RSET
(capital letters) and you'll be able to wipe out all your Desktops where the
Wireless synchronization is Not available. You can keep intact the last Desktop
where the Wireless Synchronization is Yes.

Contact Pictures in Address Book Vanish When dragged to Exchange Server ???

Forgive me in advance if this has been solved and then please direct me to the right link - however this problem is really becoming a deal breaker for me because so much of my intranet software pulls from contact images
I have a brand new Macbook Pro clean installation and after setting it up I linked it to my 07 Exchange server and pulled down my contacts it worked flawlessly and i thought all was well - Every field including the notes section and pictures transferred.
Then when I edited pictures in address book contacts under the on my mac section and copied them to my exchange address book the contact transfers but the picture is missing - after the initial transfer of contacts from my exchange server it happens vice versa also if i take a contact on my exchange server with a picture and drag it to address book (in the address book application) it deletes the picture
Alot of my applications pull from my exchange contact database and I rely heavily when replying to calls or messages at looking at the picture when it pops up on my screen
Apple support said they are sort of aware of this issue and there is a work around but they dont know what it is ??? and recommended that i ask on the forum
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated Im at my wits end or does address book just not work right ? - Oh and one more thing when clicking on a contact on the exchange server from address book i can edit a contact but i cant edit the picture field either

You haven't understood me. Follow these steps:
1. Log in the user where are the files you want to transfer, and open a Finder window.
2. In Finder, select Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type /Users/Shared. Now you're on Shared folder, so leave that window.
3. Open a new Finder window without closing the old one, go to the folder with the files you want to transfer, and copy them to Shared folder.
4. After copying the files to Shared folder, go to  > Log Out, and log in the other user.
5. Repeat the step 2, and you will get access to the transferred files. Now, you can open them directly from this folder, or you can copy them to a folder on your user folder

How can I get the address book to sort by "Last" name (using v 31.3.0).

After a computer crash, I had to load Thunderbird (v31.3.0) back into my machine running Windows 8.1, and I successfully imported my address book back up file into Thunderbird (v31.3.0).
My problem is that I don't see an option to sort the address book by "Last" name, which was available with the version of Thunderbird I had before the crash.
How can I get the address book to sort by "Last" name?

In 'Address Book'
Select address book
'View' > 'Show name as' > 'Last/First'
The you can sort by Name.
Either click on 'Name' column header to change sort order,
If reversed, then click on 'Name' column header again to reverse the order.
Or
'View' > 'Sort By' > choose 'Name' and 'Ascending'

Cannot access address book after software update

I am unable to access the default address book after doing the software update - I restored my backup and everything is there except for my contacts. When I open my address book it is labeled personal and there are no addresses and when I add a contact it does not show up, but I noticed when I go into options it shows only default under address books with 99 entries and when I try to add a contact it does not show in the list on my phone but the number of entries in the default book goes up so they are going into that one but I cannot access it? Any idea how I can get my contact list back? (hope this makes sense to someone )

Sdgardne, thank you so much! Using your post and links I was able to restore my address book after upgrading my software and having trouble with my address book. And I am very technologically challenged so I appreciate having something I could understand and follow.

The text and the progress bar on the left were messed up, the "synch now" button was greyed out, and periodically the spinning ball appears when the cursor is in the systems preferences window.
After many tries and 15 minutes, suddenly the synch window cleaned up and I was able to synch the address book successfully.
Anybody know how to solve this problem?

How do I get my addresses back after an Archive and Install procedure?

I recently had to archive and install because something was really wrong with my desktop. Now the desktop works fine but how do I get my address book application to open with all my former data in it? The address book application opens but there is NOTHING in it except apple's card and my user card? What I am asking is how to restore all my data after an archive and install procedure. you shouldn't have done that. if you wanted to reinstall snow leopard (why btw?) you should have just reinstalled it over the existing snow leopard installation directly. installing an older OS version over the newer one ( like leopard over snow) is not recommended by apple and can lead to problems. it also does not let you preserve users. your old home directory should be located inside the Previous system folder. see this link on how to extract your data from it.

specifically, for the address book you need to copy the folder homedirectory/library/application support/address book from the archived home directory to the corresponding location on the new one.

Does anyone know how to delete contacts from address book, other than your IPhone deletion? I cannot delete them from the computer. Also, I noticed after syncing, not all my contacts are on my phone. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have an old Palm V. My hotsync cable is bad, it won't sync any more. And it won't charge the palm, which has been out of charge for, oh, maybe a year.
So I've still used the Palm Desktop program, to keep track of my telephone numbers, etc. Well, my cat sprayed the pc, and I had to get a new one. Meanwhile, with all the shorting out that happened, the program won't open right. I copied what I thought were the user files, reinstalled Palm Desktop, and got the program open, HOWEVER, the user box comes up like it's a brand new user, and won't recognize when I paste the files to the directory!!
How do I recover my address book? I don't care about all the other data, but I NEED this stuff!

Yes, I have both those files.
On a lark, I tried opening them through Open Office, AND I can see the data! It's horribly arranged, but at least it's THERE. So, problem solved, thank you!!
