You may see one folder in there and that's the one you want. If you see more than one, look for the one with the most recently modified files.

The flashing "?" indicates that a valid system folder can't be found, preventing the computer from booting. Do you have the OS installer disk? If so, boot the G4 from it (press/hold down the "C" key at startup) and run Disk First Aid to check and repair (if necessary) the hard drive. Also, if the internal battery hasn't been replaced, it may be very weak or dead (usually the date & time aren't correct). A battery in either condition can cause startup problems. If the hard drive has a mechanical/electronic problem that's causing the flashing "?," you'll have to replace it. If you post back with the model G4 (series/processor speed) that you have, it will be easier to recommend specific hard drive and memory upgrades for it.

Hello:
Mute your computer before you shut it down.
Incidentally, that "annoying sound" is an audible notification that the Mac has successfully performed self-tests on startup. If you get anything other than a single chime, you have trouble.

How to fix sound distortion on an iPod?

I have a 4th generation iPod shuffle. When i use ear buds with it, the sound will be fine at first, but after a few days the sound will start to get distorted. If I mess with the ear buds for a little I can fix the sound for a few seconds. After a while the ear buds will stop working with the iPod all together. If I buy a new pair of ear buds the whole thing starts all over again. The ear buds work fine on my PC regardless of how well they work on my iPod and when I restore my iPod it's work fine for few minutes. Any suggestions?

OS:- Windows 7 64-bit
Installed new audio drivers, but still facing sound cracking problem in my PC.

I would check to see if you have a BIOS update available for install. Then I would perform a hard reset and test it. Try plugging headphones in and see if they made the cracking sound. If not, it could simply be a hardware problem with the speakers or speaker wiring.
To Perform A Hard Reset
Shut down the computer by going to the Start menu and selecting shut down. (If you have no display, hold the power button down for 5 seconds); (if the computer doesn't power on, move to the next step)
Disconnect the AC Adapter from the notebook.
Remove the battery from the bottom of the notebook. There will be a switch/button to eject the battery.
Wait at least 1 minute with all power sources disconnected.
Re-insert the battery and reconnect the AC Adapter and then attempt to power on the notebook.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the iPod and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. I am working on this drummer game where the user has to repeat what he listens by tapping on the thouchscreen, but there´s a noticeable delay on Android and iOS. The same game I had it working fine on AS2 for PCs. I don´t know whats the problem in adobe air apps. I hoe someone can help me.

Unfortunately, I do not own an iOS device and from my understanding, you have to have a developer account just to be able to test apps on your device, even if you have no intention of ever publishing something on the store. Correct me if Im wrong on that, but everything I have seen is that the only way to test apps without a developer account is to have a jailbroken device.
I have been building an audiobook player on and off for a while now and tested it on a Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and Nexus 5 in addition to my Moto X. None of those ever experienced any noticeable delays in playback. That is why I was wondering if it is a per device issue. Or it could be that I have just always used vanilla (or extremely close to it) Google Android devices. I understand that the devices I have tested with are most likely in a very low percentage of active devices used aside from the Moto X. I was basically just wanting to jump in to provide my notes on the issue, the device I tested with, and my experience.

It can be done with a lot of care & the correct tools, but if you are unsure it is best to take it to an Apple store & ask them to do it or you (or an Apple certified service centre). It can be difficult to put it back with less dust than before

Same here on an older iMac since Lion. Thanks for the uncheck wake for network access tip though, it doesn't do it either in that case, I will leave it that way.

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
Go to your Finder
Choose the Go Menu
Choose Computer
Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
Choose your "Library" Folder
Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
Empty the Trash
Restart from the Apple Menu
When you are back up and running;
     Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
     Choose Sound
      In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
      Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

You've been so great, I want to thank you for all the help over a very frustrating day. Last evening, I redownloaded and installed the fresh copy of Mountain Lion. The problem remained. After installing the new OS 10.8, any clicks on a web page (Firefox browser) didn't open the page, but instead made a copy of the page on the desktop. Felt it must be hardware degrading, so I set up a case with Apple support for today. Early in the diagnostics, I had swapped out for a corded mouse and the problem remained. As a last try, I changed out my wireless mouse for a different wireless mouse. That seems to have done the trick. My Logitech mouse is incompatible with OS 10.8.
