How to fix sticky mute switch on iphone

My friend spilled some soda into my iPhone 4's mute switch and now, the day after, it is all sticky and refuses to make a clicking sound when it switches from vibrate to ringer or vice-versa. What can I do that would be safe? It still functions, but I would have to put that disclaimer wherever I try to sell it.

You could try and dab a small cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and try and remove the soda from the ringer switch. Please dont drench the cotton swab!
Does the vibration motor work at all?

you have a bad signal ? dropping connections ? go to settings. then general. and reset your network settings. test from there. this will reset any wifi connections you may have setup already btw. you will have to connect to them again and put in the encryption key if needed. if that doesn't work. backup your phone. wipe it to factory. then test the signal then. if all is ok then restore you files back to it and try again. hopfully all that helps.

It sounds like your phone will restart on its own when you lock your phone.
I would suggest resetting the phone first:
Reset iPhone. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
