How to fix the enter key not opening sites in the URL box?

Ever since the update to 10.0.1 pressing enter to open a site in the URL entry box doesn't work. Anyone know why? I have to click the arrow key to the side of the URL pannel, and enter key works as normally everywhere.
It is INCREDIBLY annoying.

Try disable "AVG Safe Search", that should work.

Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels. Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer. I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation. I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC. I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots. Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes. Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond. In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images. After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data. (I have a screen shot to show this.) CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong. I could also send screen shots of this data.
At this point, the only way I can process my images is to work 30-40 minutes and then shut down everything, exit, and re-start LTR. This is not normal. I hope you can find the cause, and then the solution. If you would like to see my screen shots, tell me how to submit them.

After 2/5/2012 update to 10.0, the enter key no longer functions on the URL bar. (Running Windows 7 Home Premium on 64 bit Intel Core i3)

The URL line accepts text, but using the "Enter" key generates no response. The right arrow at the end of the URL line will take me to the URL.

How to fix Adobe Elements 11 not opening Nikon D7100 raw files?

Installed Adobe Elements last night and installed the Raw Converter 7.4. Everything worked fine yesterday. Today it will not open the raw files. Uninstalled and reinstalled, same problem!

Are these the same raw files or different ones?
If using Nikon Transfer or other Nikon software ensure you have installed the version for your camera model as older versions of Nikon software can corrupt the latest NEF’s.
Try testing by shooting a few new raw images and opening directly into Elements, without touching them.
Also check that ACR 7.4 is properly installed, from Expert Mode.

I can no longer use the address bar to change websites. I can block text with the mouse and input a new URL but when I hit the enter key or left click on the right arrow it has no effect and the page does not change.

Also Ctrl+Enter no longer adds www+.com to words entered in the address bar. I can use bookmarks to change to other web sites or my password manager. Re-booting my laptop makes no difference. Please help.

Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. It might be related to an extension. Then you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software, if you know what it is, according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.

Why will the raw editor not open up in the editor

I have started to shot photos in raw and after I load them into the organizer, they are converting to jpeg. When I opened the editor, the photos are all in jpeg instead of raw. What am I doing wrong. I tried to delete from the organizer but it is also deleting from iPhoto

Well, you generally don't want to use both organizer and iphoto, but if you are sending the photos out of iphoto you must tell iphoto that you want it to send the raw files. Go to the iphoto preferences>advanced and turn on Use RAW when using an external editor, or it will always send jpegs.
But really, double managing your photos will make you crazy, sooner or later.

Practically every other site works perfectly fine. I did not change any settings or download any new addons prior to this problem, it just started happening. I have done everything I can find in the forums; resetting firefox, clearing cache and cookies, making network settings use no proxy, reinstalling, and today I uninstalled Firefox, updated and scanned my computer with all 3 software I use (AVG, Malwarebytes, and Spybot), found no issues, restarted my computer, and reinstalled a freshly downloaded Firefox setup without importing any settings or doing anything other than a totally clean install, and still nothing. Chrome and IE still are able to access every site perfectly fine. I have no idea what the issue is or how to fix it, as I've tried everything I know and could research.

Dolphin enter key not wokring

I am using KDE4/ Recently upgraded.
I am trying to browse the files through keyboard in the dolphin, when I hit enter on a folder which is selected it does not open and show its contents. But when I use mouse and double click it works.
Why the keyboard enter command is failing in dolphin.
This is a problem mainly in the mac type view. In detailed view the enter key works and shows the files in that folder.
Also the enter key cannot open any file also.
I have also tested this on my friends computer. Its the same behavior

JFileChooser - activating buttons with the enter key

Hi All,
I am trying to figure out how to activate the cancel button in the file chooser by tabbing to it, and than pressing the enter key. I know how to do this in a regular dialog, but I can't seem to get the access I need to the JFileChooser to get it to work there.
I would appreciate any help.

The Buttons in the File Chooser by default dont use the Enter Key.
You must make the Enter key work if you are to use it
after you tab to get the focus on to it.
For this to be done you will need to extend the FileChooser
and change the key listener for the cancel button .......

I am facing a problem. I have a tab with 4 different tabs. When I am in the first tab, and trying to change a control's value by pressing the Enter key, it suddently switches to the seconds tab and presses a button there.
Any idea how that happens? I want to prevent that from happening.

Sounds like you have the enter key assigned to some key navigation of another control. This is a general problem with the OK button of the system palette. Here is more information.
