Hi..  When do you xactly get this error message?Are you trying  to boot your computer using a cd?Are you trying to load another operating system?  Secure Boot is a feature designed to prevent malicious software and unauthorized media from loading during the boot process. This option is enabled by default, but can be turned off in UEFI / BIOS. Select your Windows 8 device and use the following steps to change the Secure Boot setting:Completely shut down the computer.Power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press F2 to enter the BIOS.Use the right arrow key to select Security.Use the down arrow key to highlight Set Supervisor Password and press Enter.Create a password and press Enter. Retype the password to confirm and press Enter again.Use the right arrow key to select Boot.Press the down arrow key to select Secure Boot and press Enter.With the arrow key, highlight Disabled and press Enter.Press the F10 key and select Yes to save the changes and exit the BIOSWe suggest removing the supervisor password immediately after enabling Secure Boot. If you choose not to remove your supervisor password, make sure you write it down for future use. 

I fixed this issue when I realised I had set a passoword many months ago when I was in Windows 8.1 If you found that your BIOS is locked, use a password you've used for other 'important' things. Cheers, Dave  I have an Acer Aspire E1-571 I'm having the same problem - however when I press F2 it goes to a blue security box saying: Enter Current Password: I don't have a password. It was set by the factory, I bought it new. How do I get around this. The last hard drive is trapped - I can't fix it, even with Microsoft's chat help when they accessed my computer remotely.I bought a new hard drive, and have the Windows 7 Professional DVD in the drive - but it can't access it under the current Security Settings - only to find it has a Password - thus my visit to this forum today. Any help you can offer would be gratefully accepted.

    Error: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed!(pavilion 20-b014 .  The machine came originally with windows 8. I upgraded to windows 8.1 and put new hard disk. So the hard disk is fine.  
    However if I turn the machine off for a day and start the next day I get the "Error: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed".   
    I made the hard disk the first to boot the machine will boot and works.  Is there a way to upadate the BIOS on 
    HP pavilion 20-b014? my bios version is  12/4/2012  v.8.09.
    I do not understand why the intermittment above error showing on and off.

    I understand that your desktop computer is giving you an error message stating that the boot disk could not be detected, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
    To ensure that your hard drive you computer is trying to boot from is in working order, I recommend following the steps in this document on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8). This should help determine if there is a fault with the hard drive. 
    If the hard drive passes all of the required tests, I recommend returning the BIOS back to its default settings by following this document on Recovering the BIOS.

    Hello, I have been using HP Pavilion 20 Destop for 6 months now and it is still under warranty period.
    I was getting the desktop with Windows 8 preinstalled but I asked the dealer to install Windows 7 as I feel more comfortable wit it.
    I've been getting this "No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed" whenever I start my PC for quite awhile now.
    I always tap the ctrl+alt+del. It takes at least 7-8 tries to start normally.
    Yesterday I called the HP Client Service, the attendant made me do the hardware check which the PC passed.
    Therefore, there is no issue with the hardware.
    This "No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed" isssue is occuring quite frequently now and now when I'm working on the PC it suddenly stops responding and I have to shut it down forcefully by pressing the Power button.
    When I start it back on again I get the "No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed" issue.
    The attendant on the phone said something about the Ubuntu thing which I couldn't understand very well.
    Kindly help.
    I'm willing to provide information about the product if asked.

    Hello -  I have an ENVY 20 All-in-One PC and up until yesterday it was running fine. When I turned on my PC, a black screen appeared with the message: "ERROR: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed." I followed the directions on this post and ran a Hard Disk Test in BIOS. I've run both the Quick Check and the Extensive Check and both were passed. I'm not sure what to do now.     Mgmartinelli, welcome to the forum. It appears that you may be getting some conflicting information.  The error message that you first received is normally attributed to a failed/ing hard drive.  You may want to disconnect the drive and reconnect it to see if that helps. Please click the "Thumbs up + button" if I have helped you and click "Accept as Solution" if your problem is solved.

    In Eclipse link there are Entity listeners which will define the life cycle events like preInsert(),postInsert() etc.On successful insertion of an object its postInsert() life cycle method gets called.If you have to validate whether object inserted successfully then best place is to override the postInsert() and check for the existence of the record.All the event life cycle methods take a DescriptorEvent as parameter which will give handle to API as given below.In the same method you can check if this insert operation succeeded in the same transaction.

    I am constantly getting an error An Invalid Setup has been detected for the current Transaction Type in Approvals Management
    My client have 3 units say A,B,C. A requirement is such that whenever a vacancy is created, an approval should be sought from units HR manager.
    I have created a dynamic query for this and it is working fine for first two units say A & B. i.e. whenever somebody from unit A or B creates a vacancy it is correctly fetching the
    respective units managers. But, this whole AME is not working for unit C. An error pops out which says *An Invalid Setup has been detected for the current Transaction Type in
    Approvals Management* . Can anybody tell me what can be the issue?

    Solved it. The cursor wsa fetching two rows in plcae of one.

  • Unable to display Info path form using IE , The form cannot be displayed in the browser because the use of DOM storage has been disabled in the current browser settings. In order to load the form, DOM storage must be allowed.

    I have edited the default edit form for my Issue Tracking Tool using Info Path, But currently when I try accessing the form using IE 10 64x , I got the following error-
    “The form cannot be displayed in the browser because the use of DOM storage has been disabled in the current browser settings. In order to load the form, DOM storage must be allowed.”
    But using Firefox I was able to access the edit form , so can anyone advice on this please?

    Disable DOM Storage in Chrome:
    Open “Options” and select “Under the Hood” Tab. Click on “Content settings…”, select “Cookies” and set “Block sites from setting any data”.

    The HELO/EHLO domain that your Cisco IronPort Email Security Appliance (ESA) uses is based on the hostname you configure for your delivery interface under Network -> IP Interfaces.  Please ensure that a valid hostname is configured.  This hostname should match the rDNS records for the public IP address used by your ESA.
    Once addressed - you should be able to take the domain in question, and attempt to telnet port 25, and attempt the standard SMTP testing...

    The APP application on my iPad does not function properly - any downloads requested immediately fail and send me back tot he main iPad screen.  Any suggestions on to hoe to fix this?  The software has been updated to iOS 5.1.1, and no furthe updates are available.

    This is my boilerplate response when app downloads are stalled or in the "waiting" mode. There are a bunch of things here to try.
    Tap on the "installing" icon and see if you can pause the install, then tap on it again in order to resume the install.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download and install at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
    If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
    Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and see if the install resumes.
    If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

    Laurie, welcome to the forum.
    The error message that you are receiving means that the hard drive has failed.  You should try running the SMART test from the BIOS to make certain.  If it has failed, it should be covered under the warranty, since it is less than a year old.
