i use winflash all the time. and as jaybee said, its pretty safe as long as you turn off everything (except your PC of course )
and if somehow, the BIOS is corrupt, you can just DL a new one, reflash it and still be okay without ever having to reboot.
I beg to differ. When I had flashed my K8N Neo (7030) board to the now recalled 1.8 bios (in DOS), I tried to flash it to 1.9 beta using Winflash, following the instructions here on the forum to the very last point, and for me Winflash did not work. Not only did it fail to flash, it also failed to flash using several different bioses. So even though I was able to reflash without rebooting, it did not help me since no bios file worked.
My bios was corrupt and I had to order a replacement chip.
There is always the possible hardware fault (bad flash chip), but since it flashed successfully in DOS only a few days before, I see no reason to suspect the hardware.
My recommendation is therefore: *always* *always* *ALWAYS* use DOS when flashing.

  • How can i flash bios without floppy drive

    i need help with flashing bios without a floppy because although the floppy is in windows and the bios every time i try to use it, it says to insert a disc i have seek floopy enabled and it post as if it is ok the drive works i have tried 2 drives 2 cables and turned the cables round tried all i can i think lol ....
    thanks guys

    it can also be done using a CD-rom. I flashed my BIOS twice using cd-rom. Use Nero or any cd-writing program to write the bios files you download to a CD. Afterwards, just use the Windows 98 installation cd to boot into DOS, then take out the Windows 98 CD and put in the CD with the BIOS files on it and run the program just like from a floppy.

  • How to install and use flash on Z2 Tablet (KitKat)

    Hi all, I know that Flash should be dead and also that KitKat made some changes so it´s not easy to use Flash but still I need this.
    I have here an Xperia Z2 Tablet with Android 4.4 and Firefox Stable.
    I was already using firefox and flash on another older Android device, so I thought I install flash also on my new device. Was reading about this post: http://www.androidpit.com/install-flash-player-on-firefox-android-4-4
    I was downloading the oldest flash for Android, installed, checked plugin in Firefox and well everytime there is a flash element (video or whatever), I just see a black screen. There is no "you need flash" or "you have to activate flash", just a black screen.
    Is there some workaround for that problem? Any ideas? Thank you!
    Edit: Tested this with Dolphin, Flash is working there.
    Wish I could use this on Firefox...

    Hi guigs2, I already activated the plugin. When a flash element is coming I just see a black box there, it´s something [https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/gallery/images/2013-12-16-10-24-45-b6d767.png like in your link], there is just no "tap here to activate plugin" (because plugin is already activated). So flash is loading somehow, I'm just not able to see anything.
    Does flash work with FF 28 on Kitkat, did somebody test it?
    Maybe my Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is just broken, that could be also an answer. Just don't know how to find out what is going on...

  • How to install and use Flash Player with Windows 7 64-bit edition and Internet Explorer 8.

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Search for Internet Explorer.
    3. Do not click on "Internet Explorer (64-bit)" or "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
    4. Click on "Internet Explorer."
    5. That will open Internet Explorer 8, 32-bit edition.
    6. Now you can download, install, and use Flash Player. (It is used automatically on websites that support it.)
    7. In the future, make sure you don't use Internet Explorer 64-bit edition. Delete any Internet Explorer shortcut icons that you were formally using. Make sure that any Internet Explorer icons that you now use, are opening the 32-bit edition. To see what edition you are using, click the question mark near the upper-right corner of a webpage and click "About Internet Explorer." If you don't see "64-bit" on the popup, that means you are using the 32-bit edition.

    If you can not see the moving sphere: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
    Check the following:
    Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer 9
    ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer 9
    Also check this:
    In I.E.9, click Tools, click Internet options, click Security tab, ensure that the Internet security level is Medium-high.

  • How to flash bios with NTFS drive?

    How to make a good bootdisk and which procedure to follow?
    Sorry if this question might be asked before, then just put the link to the post if possible.
    Thanks a lot.

    Pitchoop,
    Just go in to your windows explore, put a floppy in your floppy drive. Right click on the Icon for the floppy drive and choose Format. In the format options you will see Create an MS-DOS Boot Disk.
    Then transfer the flash utility and the BIOS to the floppy and you are set for flashing.
    Take Care,
    Richard

  • Flashing BIOS without Floppy drive

    I have a Pavilion zt1185 running windows xp pro which doesn't have a floppy drive.  I'm am trying to flash the bios is there a way this could be done without getting a floppy drive. I have tried using the usb but will not lookup usb on startup.

    Hi:
    As far as I know, regarding a notebook of that vintage you will need a floppy drive to update the BIOS.
    More than likely a USB floppy drive will work.

  • HELP: Failure flashing BIOS using Live Update 5

    Hi,
    I used Live Update 5 to download the latest BIOS version for my MB. Then when I was running the update, I chose "". (I know it's incorrect and I should have chosen the other one.) After the update, the machine restarted and showed a cursor blinking on the top left on a black screen, and it wouldn't proceed any more. I can enter the BIOS without a problem. I can also boot from CD or USB, but the windows on my machine simply wouldn't boot.
    After the problem arose, I have tried flashing the BIOS with the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing tool on this forum. It tells me that  but the same problem remains.
    What should I do now?
    Thanks for your time and consideration!

    After any flash, the battery should be removed for awhile and the CMOS cleared. Reset all your BIOS menu settings again making sure the boot order etc. is correct and the proper mode is selected that your OS was installed under, i.e. IDE or AHCI mode.

  • How can i modifying my flash template using flash software?

    like changing text pictures...in an existing template ..i do
    have flash but how can i use it?

    If your template requires flash to modify, then you are going
    to need to learn some basic flash functions to modify it. There is
    no easy or fast way to modify a flash template, other than learning
    some flash itself.

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks for answering. t.name works but it creates a blank file on the server. I am not sure how to transfer the contents to the server. Can you help me regarding stuffing the byte array to the server. I am not sure how to send this to the server.
    I was able to write the contents of the file to a variable :
    var t = air.File.desktopDirectory.resolvePath('Resume.txt');
    var z= new air.FileStream();
    z.open(t, air.FileMode.READ);
    var data = z.readMultiByte(z.bytesAvailable, air.File.systemCharset);
    z.close();
    But how should I send it to the server. That's where I am stumped.
    Thanks

  • MOVED: howto easly flash bios using usbstick

    This topic has been moved to Off-Topic Technical.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=111381.0

    Update:
    I ended up going for bios emulation because the nouveau dri wasn't cutting it for running vms.  As best I can tell, the apple firmware loader just loads the first partition marked as bootable in the hybrid mbr, so I couldn't get the efi grub to boot both windows and linux.  The same thing happens for me in refit -- it sees both the windows and linux installs, but selecting either one just boots the first partition marked as bootable.  Maybe that's just something screwy particular to my system though.
    The problem above made me come to the conclusion that I've pretty much got to chain bootloaders together if I want to triple-boot.  I guess grub-bios needs it's own partition on a gpt disk, and I also noticed a note on the gentoo wiki that recommends using lilo, so I went with lilo for booting both arch and windows.  It works great.  (I also didn't want to try to deal with more than 4 partitions with the hybrid mbr setup).
    This setup works with the apple bootloader, but I wasn't able to set it as my startup disk in os x (I guess because lilo is installed to my linux partition).  I didn't want to get stuck booting into os x every time I forget to hold down the option key, so I stuck with my original grub-efi install.  That way I can also still boot arch in efi mode without jumping through any extra hoops/bootloaders.  I guess refit would probably be fine too, but I didn't see an entry for this particular model in it's source, and it's behaved kind of erratically for me, so I'm sticking with grub for now.
    The appleloader patch has been accepted into grub, so it may be possible to just use the bzr version.
    I also noticed that after I upgraded to 4GB memory, linux only reports 3702MB, even though the graphics card should only be using 256MB.  I'm not sure what's up with that, but maybe it's normal.  OS X and Windows both report the correct amount.  And memtest86+ reports 3836M if I remember correctly.

  • How to create screensavers using flash lite

    Hi All,
    I am new in creating screensavers for mobiles Nokia s60 . Can
    anyone guide me to create screensavers for mobiles.
    Thank you,
    eeswardelihi

    Oracle Lite is primarily a database - that runs on Palm, CE and other small devices. On Palm JDBC is not supported, but ODBC is, so you could develop with whatever tool can access ODBC. I guess that means CodeWarrior C or GCC. [Satellite Forms is also supported.]
    There are other parts of the toolset which allow you to sync your OLite database to a regular Oracle corporate database.
    It looks like there are tools to help you build simple remote applications - at least in a W32 environment. But - I've not seen anything from Oracle themselves which will build an application which runs on a Palm device.

  • How to make Aperture use new drive

    Hi
    I recently bought a new 3TB HDD to replace my 1TB drive which was nearly full. How do I copy my existing files across and make Aperture continue to read them from its database?
    Regards
    Mark

    Thanks, Matthew, but I don't think I gave enough details. I have my aperture library file on the main drive under ~/Pictures. The raw files from my camera are on the external 1TB drive called Elements, as referenced files. On the external drive is a system of folders like this /Volumes/Elements/Photos/Aperture/2012/06, and within that the raw files downloaded from my camera for that day.
    So the issue is how to harmonize the library on the iMac with the referenced files on the external drive.

    One reply - not possible.
    DSN/DSNless refers to a specific driver. And that driver is not a type 4 driver. So it is not possible.
