How to flatten a fillable form on iOS

Ever since the latest iOS update, our fillable reader extended PDF's are not working properly in the Reader App. I created fillable forms and save as a "reader extended" file. When we open the file on the Reader App, we can fill in the form and sign, but when we go to email the form it attaches the blank form to an email. It does not offer the "Share Original" or "Flatten copy" option before going into the email. We use this feature for mobile devices to sign contracts on site vs. going on a laptop. If I open a normal PDF file, a non fillable form, I can email the original or flattended copy from the reader app but this is not needed on a normal PDF. How can I share the flattened copy of a fillable form from the reader app on the iPhone/iPAD? Is this issue going to be resolved or are there settings I need to change in the PDF file before saving it for reader extended?

  • How to create online fillable form using acobrat 7.0 ?

I want to create an online fillable form but seems like a fill able PDF form is good to enter the information when end user wants to print the document with the filled information. They won't be able to save the filled information unless they have adobe acrobat and every user don't have acrobat. Majority of users will have adobe reader only which does not have the feature of saving the document with the filled information.
How can I receive the information from this fill able PDF form ?
I have seen on many website that, they people can fill out the form online and submit the information.
I know a way too add submit button using acrobat 7 designer but that is very complicated because the user will have to send xml data and i will have to import the xml data into the original pdf form which is very time consuming and not a good idea when i have to deal will 1000 forms every week.
when a personal is filling a fillable form (which i will upload on my website), that pdf form can't be send directly to me with data in it ?
this seems to be very complicated.

For AA7, you can set the file to submit the data, not the entire form. You would have the FDF data file submitted to you. The e-mail feature is not very reliable, but that was not your question. When you receive the FDF file, you may be able to click it and have it open in the form (if you did not move the form and such -- it has some folder information in the FDF). Otherwise, you can open the form and use the form tools to import the data -- forgot where it is in AA7. The end result of the import will be the same display as the submitter had in the form. You can then save the form to a different name. There may be some data handling within Acrobat 7, I don't remember. If not, you might want to get the FDF Toolkit from Adobe and set up some data manipulation with the toolkit to put data in a database or such.

  • How to create a fillable form that can be saved in Acrobat Reader

I'm new with fillable forms.  I looked at it several months ago and I was sure I saw something about making the filled forms saveable in Reader but now I can't seem to find it.  Anybody know?

Thanks!  Not sure exactly how to extend reader rights, but I imagine I'll figure it out.

  • Help help...Making existing livecycle fillable form mobile(ios/android adobe reader) compitible

    Hello Everyone,
I am new to livecycle  designer. I have a fillable pdf form(having almost all the field types, dynamic image uploads, and javascripts). I don't know if it is possible to have fillable form for mobile devices( for iPhone, ipad,Android).
Does any one have idea how can I make my existing pdf form compatible with mobile devices??
    Thank you all,
    Jay

    Hi Jay Lakhani,
You will not be able to use the form on mobile devices unless it is rendered in HTML format.
If you want your XFA forms to run on mobile devices, you need to do the following:
    - Create a HTML render profile in CRX. A default profile comes with LC installation. Check this for more details on this (http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/help/mobile-forms/rendering-form-temp late.html)
    - Secondly, you need to have LC Mobile workspace application present on your mobile device. This app is available in respective app stores.
This is what you need to render the forms in HTML on mobile devices.
    Additionally,
This documentation (with snapshots) describes mobile workspace working (http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/livecycle/topics/mobile-ws-end- user.html)
One youtube link on ES4 describing use of Mobile workspace (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPZTXfnsMpw)

  • How to create a fillable form without distribution information?

I'm looking to create an informational sheet (PDF) in which some of my offices can insert their own contact information into a single box.  I want to get rid of the purple box on the top of the form which talks about distribution which will confuse many.  Is it possible to create a plain PDF with one box to insert information into without all the fancy stuff to send the form back? I don't need to track it or get it back!
    Thanks

    Hi llvi56,
You might want to refer the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/create-fillable-pdf-forms-acrobat.html

  • How to flatten a completed form after submit?

I am creating a form in Acrobat 9 and would like the form once submitted to us as a "PDF The complete document" to be flattened so no changes can be made. This filled inform is an agreement that must be saved in the customer file.
I have tried the javascript to flatten the form within the submit button. It works to freeze it on the customer end, but when I receive it back via email I have an interactive form again.
I really need the form to be completely flat so no erroneous changes can be made when received from my customers.
Another problem, If you have a script to pick up the current date in your form the flatten script will not flatten the date. Every time the submitted form is opened the date changes again.
Anyone have any ideas for me?

You appear to high jacking the OP's post.
You have to identify the products the users filling in the form will be using. Only Acrobat or maybe some other full feature editing program can dynamically change a script using the setActiion or addScript methods.
That means you need to figure out another technique to prevent the update. The easiest test is to only change the date field if it is empty. But this means the saved copy of the form that is distributed must have the date field empty when distributed.
You do not want users to use Apple's Preview application!
If there are mobile devices involved, you need to test on each platform and with each app that will be used because not all mobile device apps support JavaScript within PDF forms and many do  not support forms at all.
    var cDateField = "MyDateField";
    if(this.getField(cDateField).value == "") {
    // date field is empty so we fill it in;
    cDate.value = util.printd("d-mmm-yyyy", new Date());
    } // end fill-in date field;

  • How to Save a Fillable Form?

    Hi guys,
I've searched and read other posts on this same quesiton, but I've gotten no luck.
I open the form in Acrobat X Pro and save as > reader extended > enable additonal features.
I then open the new enabled copy, fill some fields out, and then save it. When I reopen the document for the first time in acrobat, the data in the fields are saved. However, upon additional closing and reopening, the data is gone.
I can't seem to hold the data there further than 1 reopen.

A script can be used to reset the form when it is opened (or closed), but this might not be sufficient for your purposes. You can also set the file itself as read-only, preventing the user from saving it in the first place.
May I ask what's the point of adding form fields to this file? Is it just so that it could be printed?

  • How to automate PDF fillable form using QTP?

    Hi,
I have a test scenario wherein it involves filling up and verifying the contents of a PDF form. I have the following installed:
    - Adobe Reader 9.2
    - QTP 10
I followed the steps in the pdftesttoolkit and was able to see the pdf objects but wasn't able to record any when I fill up the form. Is the Adobe Reader 9.2 sufficient for this or do I have to install Acrobat?

Yes, you can automate using Reader. I automated using QTP 10 and Reader 9.3/9.4.
Try specifying the path to Reader explicitly in the Record & Run Settings dialog, then restart QTP and Reader.

  • I want to create a fillable form using the templates that were in adobe acrobat

    Hi all,
I am having trouble finding the templates that were offered in the previous version of Adobe. Before, when I wanted to create a form, I could simply click "create form" select from template, and I had access to dozens of varieties of forms. Now when I try the same thing, it only lets me scan in a paper form. I don't have a paper form. That's why I'm trying to make one.
Any advice would be appreciated, I have tried to search for my question but the help function keeps redirecting me back to "how to prepare a fillable form" and tells me to use a paper document. Why did this simple task become so difficult all of a sudden?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards
    Michael

That was the FormsCentral designer software. Adobe has decided to discontinue FormsCentral, so it wasn't included with Acrobat DC.
The usual way to create a form in Acrobat is to create the layout in a program such as InDesign or Word and create a PDF. You can then add the fields in Acrobat, which can attempt to automatically add fields where it thinks they belong.

  • Fillable Forms with Required Fields

So I know how to create a fillable form, but is there a way to force a user to fill out all of the fields on the form before they can save the form?  Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestions.  Clicking the required checkbox only highlights the field in red, it doesn't actually notify the user that the field is in fact required.  I don't think I'll be able to go the java script route.  I've done some research through Pro's help site and there doesn't seem to be any way to do this at this point in time.
They should add this in the future!

  • ? about Adobe Fillable Forms?

this may be a stupid question because i've only had a half a day to figure out how to make a fillable form, which i did and i understand that you receive a datafile when they hit the submit button. What i want to know if there any way to set it up to actually get the form back with the info filled in without having the recipient having to save the file to their computer and re-attach it.
thanks for any info. When i have time i'll read the book :)

I believe you have posted to the wrong forum. The Adobe Output Designer is the form design software used with the Adobe Output Server ("Central Pro" server) software for producing hard copy output. It can make filled PDF files but it doesn't have a user "fill" feature - you have to use other software for that purpose.
Your question is very similar to those that have been asked at the Adobe LiveCycle Designer forum over the past several months. Unfortunately, for what you want it to do it appears that the answer is that the software doesn't support that capability.
If I'm correct and this is the wrong forum and the Live Cycle one is the correct one, then browse the posts there or repost your question there for a more definitive answer.
One good thing about that forum (over this one) is that it is monitored by actual Adobe staff that are very helpful.

  • How good is the new Adobe Reader IOS for fillable forms and interactive pdfs?

At last adobe reader for ios has been updated so now fillable forms can be completed on ipad/iphone but how good is it?
I've tested a form and reset form/print form and save as buttons do not seem to work.
Form submit seems ok, just wondered what others thought?
Also the new Adobe Reader IOS is now able to display interactive pdfs with buttons such as go to next page etc yet page transitions do not work? Again whats everyone elses opinion on the reader ios update?

My preliminary experience is that Reader does better with forms than with interactivity.
I've written a couple postings on InDesignSecrets.com about PDF readers for tablets. Here's the latest one:
Finding the Best Tablet PDF Reader
You should also check out PDF Expert (US $9.99) which handles interactivity better than Reader if that is important to you.

  • Fillable Forms and Distribution : Flatten Author's text but not Form Fields

Ok folks, first time posting on this forum though definitely not my first time searching for answers!  I've been pretty successful with other questions though I think I've stumped myself on this one.
I've created a "generic" Fillable Form that I will be using to distribute to various contacts for certain upcoming projects that we will be participating in.  Because each project will be different, instead of having to create a new form each time, I am hoping that with my base model form I can input various information with the type writer tool and somehow protect this information from being edited/deleted while still allowing my contacts to input their information within the form fields.
I've tried applying different variations of the security features, but the drawback of doing this is that it will not allow me to "distribute" my form so that it can be track with Adobe Tracker.  The only way I can succefully distribute this form to the masses and track responses is if all security settings for the document are turned off.
I hope this all makes sense how I'm explaining it.  Because the information (not the form fields) on the document being sent out is changing every week, I was hoping there would be an easier way other than creating an entirely new Fillable Form for each.  I'm not an expert with Actions but would it be possible to create an Action that would "Flatten" the type writer text only?  That would at least prevent others from manipulating or deleting the information I have placed on the document.

This free JavaScript-based tool for Acrobat is what you need: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/
The Typewriter tool creates a type of text box, so you'd select just that check box to flatten them.

  • How do I NOT allow a PDF Fillable form I've created to be saved?

I just got XI Pro ... I've never had a pro version before.  A co-worker who has used pro for ages (but has an older version) showed me how to make it so that a PDF filled form could be saved by another user.  However, in the version I have it seems that the ability for another user to save a PDF filled form is automatic ... I can't figure out how to shut it off.
Our PDF fillable forms will be on our website, but we DO NOT WANT a user to be able to save the filled or the blank form.  Looking for a PRINT-ONLY option once it's been filled out.
    Anyone have any ideas??
    Thanks!

This was recent;y discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5881211
There was a major change made with Reader 11 that allows it to save filled-in forms, add all sorts of comments/markups, and some other things without the document needing to be Reader-enabled, unlike all previous versions. This is what you're noticing. So the best you can do is attempt to clear the fields when the document is saved and/or when it's opened.
