  • How to force empty trash?

    Hello
I can't empty my trash. I get these signs:
"This operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
"Empty Trash", and "Secure Empty Trash" in the finder doesn't work
"command, option, shift, delete" - doesn't work either
Who can help me with this?
    Thank you

usually, pressing option an selecting +empty trash+ from the finder menu does the trick. if it don't, you will have to get some panadol and work yourself through that article
    good luck !

Usually rebooting clears it so you can empty the trash, otherwise:

  • How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?

How do I empty trash after deleting music, apps and photos from my iPhone to make more room for upgrading to iOS 8.1?  It says I don't have enough room to upgrade so I have deleted some of everything but do not see an improvement in my storage space. Help?

    No need to empty anything.
You can update by connecting your phone to iTunes on your computer. This way you bypass the space limitations.
    Good Luck

  • I cannot empty trash on my Mac Pro when I have external drives attached

I try emptying trash and get the message, "Operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items."  When I remove the external flash drives, the trash is empty.  As soon as I reconnect the drives, same message occurs when I try to empty the trash.  Help!

Every file and folder in Mac OS X has some permission settings to help define what you or other users can do with the file or folder, for example whether you may modify it or not. If see an alert box with a message that says you do not have "sufficient" privilege or permission, see the tips in the "Emptying the Trash" section ofthis article.

  • Force empty trash

This may be more of an osx thing, but is there a way to force empty the trash? It says a graphic file is still in use, even when I quit all apps. I know a restart will probably fix this, but still curious if there is another option.

Rename the file to end in .rtf, and then open TextEdit. Save a new document to the same folder as the file you're trying to delete, and overwrite the existing file when prompted. You may need to move the file out of the Trash first.

  • How can I empty .trashes on my win2003 server automatically?

    Hello,
We have to use win2003 server for some of our macs running 10.4.11. The volumes are mounted via smb. Obviously the win server does not delete the files in the .trashes folder, although the trash on the osx desktop is emptied. Does anyone know how to make win2003 delete this when emptying the local trash?
    Regards,
    Stefan

Hi Stefan, welcome to discussions. Maybe just deleting them is an option?
With the share mounted, you could try something like this from terminal a Mac.
    sudo find /Volumes/nameof_smbshare/ -name '.Trashes'
    and see what that finds.
    This command
    sudo find / -name '.Trashes*' -exec rm {} ;
should find and delete the .Trashes, so don't use without testing for unexpected results.
    I used to use this
    find <SMB_SHARE> -name ".DS_Store" -exec rm {} ;
to find and remove the .DS_Store rubbish before they came out with /usr/sbin/dot_clean
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

  • HELP, I lost my photos. How to undo empty trash?

    Hello,
I did a stupid thing and my iphoto library ended up in the trash, which I emptied.
I did not SECURE empty. Any way to recover from this?
    Help please,
    Thank you,

First, stop using the computer. Everything you do now overwrites the space where your photos used to be.
    Second, invest in Data Rescue:
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
It is not cheap, and it probably won't get everything back, but if you value your photos, that's really the only shot you have.
(There is a new thing called "Disk Drill" ( http://www.cleverfiles.com/ )that seems to be free in beta test mode, but I have no experience with it and cannot say whether it will work or not. Data Rescue has saved my data in the past.)
