How to force iPad to respect Home Sharing limits?

I recently purchased a new iPad 2 and Apple TV 2 and have found that while other machines (laptops and desktops) respect the limits I've selected for Home Sharing from my main computer (selected from within iTunes > Preferences > Sharing) the iPad and new Apple TV do not: they continue to see everything I have in my iTunes library. This goes for my iPad too, but that's another story. My question for this forum is this: is there something I can do to make these iOS devices respect the selected parameters in iTunes Home Sharing?

As I read the article it sounds like only those computers or users on the same network will be affected. The Apple TV and iPad connect via wireless and may not respect the settings. Those settings in iTunes are not supposed to affect devices that connect via Home Sharing as I interpreted the article.
Perhaps someone will come along with a more definitive explanation, but there is a support link you can use to direct the question to an Apple employee or tech person or you could could call AppleCare about it.

No need to "import". Just find the photo in iPhoto (i.e. within the application), click it once so it's highlighted with a blue outline, then select Edit menu > Copy (or just ⌘-C). Go to Address Book, select the contact, click the Edit button at the bottom, click once on the blank photo icon so it's highlighted with a blue outline, then select Edit menu > Paste (or just ⌘-V).
FYI, the original iPhoto images are stored as individual files, in ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Originals/subfolders.

Honestly, if you want help it is generally a good idea to ask a specific question and give some details of what problem is occurring.
If trying to move media, using home sharing is simply a bad idea. Follow some of the other instructions in the article from which the question was posted to move media.

I have a Users/Shared folder but since the files we are talking about are invisible, I can see how it is structured.

and it did not work. However, when I install a fresh copy of Tiger on the external it did authorize the computer and was able to play the downloads. But coping the invisible file to my boot drive was not successful. But , like I said the music did play when I started up from the external. So I guess that may be my only solution, unless someone can tell what the correct directory is and where it for iTunes downloads.

How do I share my iTunes library to an iPad without using "Home Sharing"?

I have set up my iTunes library to be shared with others over our home network. This is the "Share your library" option, and NOT "Home Sharing" since my wife has her own Apple ID and I, unfortunatly, have 2. She was wanting to listen to our music on her iPad but could not figure out how to access the shared library. The "Music" app (click more, select library) only seems to work for Home Shared libraries. (In fact, I had tried Home Sharing first and when I turned it off, all of the buttons at the bottom of the Music app's screen disappeared - note: she has no music stored on the iPad.)
So, how can an iPad access a shared iTunes music library without using Home Sharing?

You enable Home Sharing using one AppleID. Doesn't matter which you use but all devices must use the same AppleID for Home Sharing.

The content manually inserted into the Description field in iTunes does not display in either the iPad Video App nor when using Home Sharing. Why can't I see all my songs for an artist when I search by artist using iPad remote? I'm listening to music via home sharing through apple tv using iPad 2 as my remote. All my songs seem to be listed fine under "songs", but when I select "artist" many of the songs I have for that artist are not there, any idea why that is or how I can fix this.....I suspect it's because many songs may not be associated with an album and it seems only songs in albums are displayed when I search by artist.

Thanks Ferretbite, but that's not the issue in my case, the songs are not part of a compilation. I just checked several of them and the "Part of a compilation" box is unchecked.....it seems as if the song does not have an album associated with it, it will not display under the artist when I search by artist on the iPad remote which REALLY stinks.
Hope someone else might have a solution.

As indicated by ckuan, as long as all devices are using the same Apple ID for store purchases then you will be able to share everything you purchase from iTunes. Just make sure you log-in to the iTunes Store on each device using the same Apple ID.

Do you and your husband share one Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases. If not, that is a requirement for you to be able to access his purchases and vise versa.

When I plug my ipad into my Macbook an error message comes up "The ipad cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.7 of later.
My Macbook is running itunes 10.6.3 and won't seem to accept 10.7, so now I can't put any of my music onto my iphone, ipad or ipod!

You can only play music from the computer when you use Home Sharing. You cannot download music to the I pad with Home Sharing.
