How to force recieving SMS (and not iMessages) when Phone is offline, with iPads onlines

Hello,
I've got a peticular problem on a peticular configuration...
At home, on wifi, I use my iPad to write iMessages on the large screened-keyboard. iMessages are sent back to both my iPad, but to my iPhone too (that I've always on my pocket so use to read the messages I've recieved; I usually don't use the iPad to read them as not always using it...).
But on my iPhone, I don't want to use the cellular data. So when I go out, my phone send SMS to others (as offline); no problem there.
But others are sending iMessages to me as my iPads are online! And I've got the messages only once I'm back on wifi X-C!!!
Is there a way to have all the advantages? A way to do as if iPads were offline once my iPhone is (as if the phone were the "master" and the tablet the "slave"), and that would force SMS to be sent to me as my iPhone is offline even if my iPad are online?
Up by now I turn the wifi off once I go out, but it's boring and sometimes I do forget and miss important messages...
Thx in advance for your help :-D

I don't keep the phone plugged in and it's literally just sitting there, not doing anything. I don't use anything like Pandora that would keep the Wi-Fi. I do everything at home like I do at work.
- Cellular data off
- Wi-Fi on
- Not plugged in
- Leave it alone on the desk
When I get an email in Outlook, the phone instantly vibrates, sometimes before it even shows up in Outlook. At home, it's just dead.
I guess I could reword my question a bit. If the behavior I'm experiencing at home is normal, then logically, the behavior I'm experiencing at work is abnormal. So then, does anyone know about wireless networks who might know what's causing this? I don't imagine I'll be able to replicate it at home since the gear I use at work is a lot fancier. I'm an IT professional and I know quite a bit about networking, but I'm very ignorant of wireless technology.
Since I don't have data service on my current service plan, Wi-Fi is my only avenue for accessing the Internet. It certainly make sense that a signal would come from the cellular network and wake Wi-Fi up to get the rest of the data, so thanks for shedding light on that.

  • If I turn off iMessages on my iphone 5 and only use SMS, I am hoping this will this stop ALL my messages going to partners ipad? I only want 2 use SMS and not have any of my messages go to partners ipad so dont want to alter ipad settings.

My situtation is this, my soon to be ex previously set up an ipad with both our numbers and we share a linked itunes/icloud account so if my phone is off he gets all my messages via his ipad that I DO NOT have access to his ipad at ALL. I can't set up my own itunes account (not yet until I leave him) otherwise he will know I am leaving him and it will cause major problems. So I was hoping that if I turn off iMessages on my iphone 5 and just talk to my family via SMS and NOT touch his precious ipad mini, that he wont be able to get my messages anymore and if I turn off iCloud storage and back up as well on my iphone only. Is this correct? Its just a temporary solution I am hoping. I have searched for days and hours and I just cant find this answer anywhere....
Do I HAVE to turn off my phone number off or delete it on his ipad? I am really hoping I can just do this at my own end and not touch his ipad in anyway or have to change my itunes id YET. Once I leave him shortly, I will create a whole new ID etc.  I just wanna know if I can do this myself on my iphone only. Please any experienced help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much.

SMS messages will not go to the iPad Mini. It's not capable of receving them. If you have access and can do it without it causing a problem, remove your iPhone from the Apple ID Support profile:
    Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
    Click on "Edit Products"
Click on the "X" to the right of the product.
    Click "Unregister"
If anyone in your family uses iMessage, they will go to both you and your boyfriend unless you do that.
To be completely safe, you may want to simply use an alternate message app such as Skype, Viber, Whatsapp (assuming everyone has a smartphone) until the issue is resolved. Google Voice will also allow you to send and receive texts to another number on your phone.
    Best of luck.

  • SMS texts, not Imessages, on multiple phones with the same Apple ID

Is it possible that outgoing and incoming SMS texts, not imessages, could be seen on two seperate Iphones that share the same Apple ID? I'm wondering because I have been SMS texting a friend about a gift for my husband and I'm wondering if he was able to read them.
    Thanks!

Outgoing or Incoming texts? I was texting with a person with an iphone that is one the same network, if that matters.  But they were all green, so i know they were SMS.

  • Will I lose my sms and notes if I upgrade to 6.0.1

I have an iPhone 4 which currently is running on iOS 6. Will I lose my sms and notes if I upgrade to iOS 6.0.1? Other things I am not worried about. SMS is a must. Please suggest a wayout.

If you are updating from iOS 6, you won't lose data. However, you must make an iTunes or iCloud backup before updating in case the update fails and you have to restore the iPhone

You sync music the same way as on the Classic. What you sync to an iPod does not effect the iTunes library on your computer.

    Follow this procedure:

  • HT4191 iPhone Local Storage "My iPhone" - How do you create this folder for use by the Notes app on a iPhone or iPad?  If I want to keep some notes only on my device and not in a cloud environment associated with an e-mail account.

iPhone Local Storage "My iPhone" - How do you create this folder for use by the Notes app on a iPhone or iPad?  If I want to keep some notes only on my device and not in a cloud environment associated with an e-mail account.  I've seen reference to the  "My iPhone" local storage put no mention on how you create this folder or access this folder within the Notes app.  I realize storing information in a local storage like this provides no syncing between other iDevices but that is exactly what I'm looking for.  I'm running iOS7.0.4 on a iPhone 5S, and a iPad Air.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to Settings > Notes > Default Account you will see "On My iPhone" as the default account and the only choice if you have not enabled syncing Notes in Settings >iCloud or Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. If you have enabled syncing you can still select "On My iPhone" as the default account. When you are in the Notes app you won't see any accounts listed if you have not enabled syncing because they are all in the On My iPhone account and that is the only place possible. It is not a folder that you create.

I want to delete my current exchange account and replace it with my new one. How can I achieve this and not lose my contacts, photos, etc associated with this account? Please help..
    Thank you,

    Bad idea.
What information do you want to share, exactly?  You can share contacts, reminders, and calendars with other iCloud users without the need for both of you to use the same iCloud account.  You can authorize both phones to use apps purchased under the same Apple ID without sharing an iCloud account.
Sharing an iCloud account is a bad idea in general. There is too much opportunity for someone to damage or delete data that will affect both.

It's either in local folders, as it seem you had been doing, or in icloud.  If you go into the mac's Pages and view the icloud files, you can drag on onto another to create a folder.  But you can only have folder one level deep, so you can't organize your files/folders like you can on a mac, using nested folder several levels deep.

    Hello dancetoday07,
Let's see if we can square this away for you. With backing up your iPhone, it will back everything you have using iTunes and if you use iCloud, by default, backs up everything. After you have made a backup you can restore that to put the contents of the backup on your replacement iPhone. If you want to put certain things back on, you will at least need to export the content to your computer, like your photos and videos. If you only want to put certain things back on, then you will need to sync that over with iTunes. All the information you will need are in the articles below.

  • I had a second hard drive added to my Mac Pro.  How do I format it and not effect my orginal hard drive?

I had a second hard drive added to my Mac Pro.  How do I format it and not effect my orginal hard drive?

Just format it with Disk Utility as mentioned above.  Select the new disk on the list at the left.  Click the erase tab.  Specify Mac OS Extended (Journaled) if not already specified and give the disk a name of your choice.  Then click the erase button.
That's the simplest way to format a disk with a single partition (volum). If you want to create multiple volume (partitions) then click the Partition tab instead of Erase.  You can then use then specify a number of volumes and size each volume by specifying its size or just dragging the slider in the bootm right of each partition.  Give each a name as before and again Mac OS Extended (Journaled).  Click Apply button to create the partitions.
Since you appear to be new at this just "play" with the erase and partition settings so you can become comfortable with them.  So long as you have the new disk selected on the left you can't really hurt anything since it's a new disk and no data to loose.  You can always go back and erase it back to a single partition.
