How to force the unlock screen Keyboard layout as default?

Hello BB Experts, is there a way to force the unlock screen keyboard layout as the default keyboard layout for everything in my Z30 (except the dial pad). I really love the unlock screen keyboard layout with the top numeric row. Thanks!

Hi everybody...
I've searched on the support and I didn't find anything on that.
I Don't know if it's something on the initial Start of my Palm TX, i don't remember!
Right now my on-screen keyboard have a AZERTY layout, the french on... I've setted the language in french, but I want to have the QWERTY layout like US and Canadian.
How can i do that??? with a hard reset to restart the initial setup??
BTW I don't mind if I must have my device en English, but I want a QWERTY keyboard!!! hehe

Believe you will have to change to English to get qwerty. Alternatively, you might want to take a look at pruss' MyKbd, which you can rearrange to your heart's content.

How to set custom keyboard layout as default?

I've downloaded a german keyboard layout for normal PC keyboards from this page: http://www.nullpointer.de/stuff/keylayout/index.de.
Everything works fine. The layout is showing up in "Input Sources".
But for some reason I cannot uncheck the default "Apple German Keyboard Layout" as you can see in this screenshot:
The TickBox next to it is disabled...
This leads to the problem that in some applications that layout is being used (switched to) automatically instead of keeping the new one...
How do I set a custom keyboard layout as default and/or deactivate built-in one?

This has come up before, and I think it is not possible. The OS always keeps one of its own Latin keyboards active, and unfortunately I have not seen any way that these (located in system/library/keyboard layouts/applekeyboardlayouts.bundle) can be modified by the user.
PS Another possible source for "PC" layouts for people using that kind of hardware instead of Apple keyboards is the set of Logitech layouts provided when you download Ukelele.

Is there a way to force the unlock of a resource locked by other user?Yes. get a DBA to kill the session. Actually it might be better to kill the OS process.
Alternatively get the DBA to find out who the user is, and phone them up. This won't help if it's not an actual person (it might be a batch process).

How can I type "š" with english keyboard layout?

I was wondering if somewho can tell me, how I can type "š" with englis keyboard layout, because when I have restart iMac, layout was changed back to english (from Slovak) and now I cant start Mac OS X, cause in my login is "š"

Start with the Apple menu in the upper left of the Menu Bar and select System Preferences. On the System Preferences pane on the top row is the UN flag icon. For Tiger (OS-X 10.4) it was called "International". Click to take you to the Language Options:

How do I get on-screen keyboard to work in tablet mode for Satellite Radius?

I have a Radius P55W-B5318. I love it, but when I use it in tablet mode, I can't seem to figure out how to get the on-screen touch keyboard to come up, which is necessary if I'm going to use it as a tablet. Any solutions? What am I missing here?

Why is the unlock-screen of my iPad mini showing black or blue lines?

3 days ago, i bought an iPad mini at the apple store. Everything is working perfectly, but ever since I first started it, I'm noticing some black or blue lines at the bottom of the screeen on the unlock screen. They disappear after one second.
I already updated to the latest version, and I did a hard-reset, but this didn't help.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

HI i have the same issue with my ipad mini retina. it appeared too out of nowhere after more than a month of using it. my device wasn't dropped or exposed to any liquid substance. At first only a single line appeared and then it grew to this. How did you fix yours? did you return it?

Wont show me the unlock screen???

I just receently undated my iphone and restored it although I lost all of my pictures and contacts. Now when I use the phone and it goes in lock after I'm not using it I cant get to see the unlock screen by pressing the home key. The screen just goes black and stays black. The only way I can get it to come back on it by pressing and holding the two buttons the one time for about 30 seconds. Anyone know how to fix this?

You can set a passcode to be requied to unlock the iPad via Settings > General > Passcode Lock. In terms of locking the actual screen whilst using an app, then that isn't currently possible, but with iOS 6 in the Autumn there will be a new 'accessibility' feature (from here) which will allow you :

Windows Welcome Screen Keyboard Layout

Hello, I'm a Dvorak typist and I have changed my Windows settings to use that layout, but I cannot find (or there doesn't exist) an option to change the initial Welcome screen keyboard layout. When locking my session or returning from screen saver
mode, the layout is correct, but if I've logged out or restarted, the welcome screen reverts to Qwerty. Is there an option to change this?

I made a test in our testing environment, Windows 10 Technical Preview 9926 X64 English edition. After add the keyboard layout, such as Dvorak, we do need to restart the computer to let the setting come into effective.
Therefore, please restart your computer for test.

Obtaining the standard US keyboard layout file

Is there a way to obtain the .keylayout file for the standard US keyboard layout in Leopard?
Back in the 10.3 days, I created myself a personalized "US International" keyboard layout - basically a US, but with a way to conveniently create the 4 accented characters used in Estonian through a dead key. This survived the upgrade to Tiger, but for some reason, not Leopard.
Having forgotten how I did this back in 10.3, I ran across Ukelele after some Googling. Downloaded that and recreated my keyboard based on the US.keylayout file that came bundled with the download. This seems to generally work fine, except for one small thing - in BBEdit's Search & Replace dialog, the keyboard shortcut for "Replace All", which is CMD-ALT-R, does not work. On the other hand, the combo works as a menu shortcut for example in Fireworks.
So my plan at this moment is to try to obtain the US .keylayout file of Leopard and try to create my own keyboard layout based on that to see if that fixes the problem, since I'm hitting this bug annoyingly often.
Anyone know if this is possible? On a standard install, the layout resides inside the AppleKeyboardLayouts.bundle file in /System/Library/KeyboardLayouts, but unfortunately in some encoded/compiled way.

It's not the Leopards's, it's the Estonian layout itself - it has [] {} positioned in such uncomfortable places that makes it unusable for me to use while doing my everyday work - coding. That's why I created myself a US layout with a dead key that let's me make accented characters used in Estonian (õäöü) easily, but still use the comfort of the US layout.
I see the Ukelele author is aware of the issue with working from the new system layouts but not found a fix. You might want to ask your question about that shortcut in the little forum at the bottom of the Ukelele page (or at BBEdit) as well.

While using bluetooth wireless on iPad, it stalls and the on screen keyboard comes up.

I just bought my iPad 2 about two weeks ago. Before that I was playing around with my parent's iPad first generation.
For both iPads, I have the same problems while using the same wireless keyboard on both of them.
1. While typing, at random times the wireless keyboard stops responding and the on screen keyboard shows up.
2. While typing, also at random times, the wireless keyboard stops responding and the same alphabet that I last typed in would multiply itself until I either press "command + A" and delete or lock my parent's iPad and iPad 2.
3. While typing, my wireless keyboard stops responding, on screen keyboard shows up, I select my on screen keyboard to hide, continued typing on the wireless keyboard, it stops responding again and my iPad2 restarts in a split second with the black backdrop and apple logo in the middle and goes to lock screen. Then everything is fine.
4. While not typing, on screen keyboard shows up at random times while bluetooth is paired to wireless keyboard and then goes back down, all this while bluetooth icon at the top screen of the iPad2 flashes.
I don't know what is wrong. At first I thought my iPad 2 has a problem but when I remembered the same problems occurred on my parent's iPad first generation, I don't know if it is just my keyboard or the iPad(s) have a problem.
Please help me!

If this is only one specific app, it is a problem with that application's programming.
You can try to reset your iPad by holding down both the Home and Lock buttons for approximately 15 seconds or until the device restarts while ignoring the power slider.

Where's the on-screen keyboard?

I'm actually using a Dell Venue 11 Pro tablet, but i'm hoping this is a Windows issue and maybe somebody with a Surface has seen it too..
I've recently discovered that the on-screen keyboard no longer comes up automatically as it should.<o:p></o:p>
Example: Swipe in the corner to bring up the charms. Tap on "search", then tap into the search field. The keyboard *should* come up automatically at that point, right? Nope.
I know I can tap the keyboard from the desktop screen, but want to use it in the Start screen. If you have the keyboard up manually in the desktop screen and then go to the Start screen, the keyboard goes away.
I'm running 8.1 with all the latest patches and updates from Dell and Microsoft. And like I said, this could be specific to Dell, or maybe just the Venue Pro.
Anyone encounter this issue?

use external speakers if your going to 'crank' it out max.
Most laptops dont have the quality speakers to output anything LOUD enough to make the laptop 'dance' from sound vibrations. The Mac however does.
Both a good thing and a 'bad' thing. At least its got it.

Why does the on-screen keyboard disappear once a Bluetooth device has been attached?

Once I've connected a bluetooth device to my ipad 2, the on-screen keyboard disappears and doesn't return until I re-start the ipad. I've tried this with both a bluetooth keyboard, as well as with a bluetooth pedal, which will do page up, page down, right and left arrows, etc.

Reset your phone , you wont lose anything. Hold the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up.

Firefox crashes as soon as I type into it (anywhere: search bars, pages) unless I have the on-screen keyboard open ..??

When I start a Firefox session, everything works normally until I try to type anything anywhere (the address bar, either of my search bars, or on a webpage). If I try to type it freezes up and I have to go to the Task Manager to quit it (I have Windows obviously and use Firefox 3.6).
I tried opening the on-screen keyboard, just to see what happens, and as long as I have that open, even downsized, everything works fine and I can type wherever I want.
Is this a keyboard problem or something else?? Plugins?

Yeah, it still locks up. I just realized that it happens in Word, IE and other programs as well. It is obviously a problem with my keyboard/display drivers and not any one program (I think it is happening after my computer is in "sleep" or "hibernate" and not general start up). I guess I assumed it was a Firefox problem since the I noticed the problem while using it.
