How to forget or delete unknown wifi network?

Hi everybody,
I use my iPad in wifi connexion with a Eye-fi card in my camera.
When I take a picture, it goes through the iPad with the Eye-fi wifi network created.
BUT, when in the neighborhood a wifi network exist, my iPad disconnect from the Eye-fi card.
Do you know how can I delete or forget the unknown wifi network to keep only my Eye-fi card wifi on the wifi network list?
Thanks a lot.
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy Fiori,

Forget a network:  Tap next to a network you’ve joined before. Then tap Forget this Network.

Thank you but I tried that and it still shows up as a network. I live out in the country and shouldn't have any other networks close. I am afraid of a security breach.
As far as networks showing up when you right click the WiFi icon in the Menu Bar, you will always see those that are close by. I know of no way to hide or remove those.
What leroydouglas provided is correct to remove any WiFi networks you have previously connected to.

  • How do I delete a wifi network when I don't have the password?

Yesterday, I had some work done on my home network, which affected all my wireless devices.  I was able to get everything up and running, but the Ipad.  I have a different type of encryption now and can't connect to my Ipad.  My nephew, who did the work, wants me to delete the current wifi and then start over so it will see the current wifi network.  The network that is showing is my new network name, but I type in the password and I get an unable to join/dismiss message.  I have tried to reset network settings, but I still see the same network.  My nephew won't be back until later in the week, I miss the wifi.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Nan

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but it's worth a shot.
    TRY THIS:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > select 'Other...' > Enter Network Name and Security Password > select 'Join'
    MY SETTINGS:
The router is set to WPA2 Encryption.  The iPhone 'Wi-Fi Networks' settings is set to 'Ask to Join Networks'
    ISSUE BACKGROUND:
I had a problem where my iDevice (iPhone 4) would not automatically connect to my Wi-Fi router even though the name - linksys - was always present.  I didn't want to 'Reset Network Settings' yet as there were some  hotspots I didn't want to have to go through the hassle of entering 16 to 32 character passwords again.  I was planning to try the 'Forget this Network' option, but it wasn't present.  I tried the step above as a long shot and it worked.  Hope this helps.

  • How do I delete old wifi networks from appearing in the wifi icon in the menu bar.

Just bought a new Airport Time Capsule and is up and running OK.
When I click on the wifi icon in the menu bar all my old wifi networks appear
which are then viewable by neighbours although the networks themselves are PW protected.
In system preferences>network>advanced I have deleted all my old N/Works allowing only
    my new one to appear.
How can I delete the old networks I no longer use from re-appearing in the list under the wifi icon?
    Alan

When you delete old networks in System Preferences > Network > WiFi > Advanced, be sure to click the OK button, then click the Apply button in the next window that appears.
You also need to delete the old networks in KeyChain Access as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Click on the name of an old wireless network to highlight it
Click the Delete key on your Mac
Do the same for other old wireless networks that you no longer use, then restart your Mac.

  • How to delete unwanted WiFi networks

I’m picking up 7 closed Wi-Fi networks in addition to my own. Periodically my wireless printer will somehow default to one of these other networks & I have to do a factory reset then input my network settings to get it working again. Is there a way to delete these other networks or at least prevent them from showing up? No settings I could find in Network, Airport Utility, Print & Scan or the printer’s configuration settings seem to allow me to do this.

If they are closed networks the printer could not connect to them.. it can only connect to open network if it doesn't have the passkey.
Unfortunately if people do not close their networks and password them, there is no way if their signal exceeds yours.. usually wireless will connect to the strongest signal of a known network or open one.
So live in a Faraday cage.. very effective.. See movie Enemy of the State.. the Faraday cage in the film was so effective the wireless microphones used by the actors would not work. ie they actually built the set properly to represent a paranoid person towards wireless survelliance..

  • How do I remove a wifi network account from iMac? Or how do I encrpyt an open wifi network account to make it secure?

Somehow a wifi network connection  has been created either on my airport router or iMac or iPad which is non secured, I.e. Open. I cannot workout how to delete it or make it a secure connection. My concern is that other users may able to access my computers via this open wifi connection.
What can I do to correct this?

click on the wifi icon and go all the way down to network preference click and open it once you on network window on the bottom right there is a advance icon click that then you should be able to delete all the network that your mac is remember.
    hope this is help.

  • Modify/delete a wifi network created in Time Capsule.

Hello, I created some wifi networks with Time Capsule. Now I want to eliminate some of them in order to keep only 2 or 3 "on air"; how can I do it? My Airport Utility is updated; v. 6.3.2

You cannot create multiple wifi networks.. you can create 2.. one for 2.4ghz and one for 5ghz. (Guest network I guess is also possible).. once you change the name of the network the previous ones no longer exist.
If you have a long list of wireless names in your computer.. delete them from your computer. They are simply history and no longer current.
Tesserax has info for deleting all the old names that are stored on your computer to fix connection after wake from sleep issues.

  • How can I to omitt a wifi network in ios7?

Hi, I need to omitt, eliminate a known Wifi network from my iPhone. In iOs6 there was a red button for this in the details of the network, even if you were not connected to it. In iOs7 you can only forget a network if you are connected, or so it seems. How can you eliminate a network?

Not sure what you mean by 'eliminate'.  You can tap the "i" to the right of the network name to "Forget this Network" (even if you're not connected to it).  But you cannot prevent it from showing up as an available network to choose from, that's never been available.

  • Will a locked iPod touch connect to an unknown wifi network?

Lost an ipod touch a few days ago.  It does have a passcode and find my iphone is activated.  However I am wondering how it is supposed to even receive commands/messages through icloud if whoever finds it cant access the settings to set it up on a wifi network.  Will it automatically connect to unlocked wifi networks? Will something pop up on the lock screen enabling wifi access?

It will only join known networks.  Otherwise, you would need to manually join them or respond if you had "ask to join" enabled.  Either way, no it will not just connect to any unknown network, even if completely unsecured.
This is one of the limitations of any network dependent location service.
With the passcode on it at least your information is safe.
