How to format an iPod on a MacBook Pro?

I plugged my iPod into my new MacBook Pro. The menu did not have a choice to format the iPod. Previously the iPod was hooked up to iTunes on a PC. I formatted the iPod on the PC.
Now I would like to format the iPod on my MacBook Pro. How can I do that?

Restore the iPod in iTunes for Mac. Restoring will erase and reformat the iPod's hard drive, reload the software with the Mac version and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions to name the iPod and automatically sync your songs and videos onto the fresh installation. Press Done and the iPod will appear in iTunes and start to sync. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists uncheck the box beside the sync automatically instruction and press Done, it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes

I have a 30g ipod which is formatted for Windows for my PC. I recently got a MacBook Pro and would like to keep all of my itunes here now. I'm confused as to how to transfer my ipod to my MacBook without loosing everything. I only use my ipod for music (not videos or photos). I more or less need very simplistic instructions. I have been reading some of the posts and am thoroughly confused. Thank you in advance!!!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Good sound costs money. And with a 5.1 system your usually doing surround sound decoding for BlueRay movies etc. for home theater purposes.
The PC 5.1 surround sound systems require a audio card in a PC tower and mainly used for playing 3D games so that won't work for any Mac at all. So don't buy a PC 5.1 surround sound system for your Mac.
Harmon Kardon has the GoPlay, it's a portable stereo with awesome sound (not as good as their theater systems) and you can hook up a analog male/male stereo mini cable to it from the Mac.
$200 and it has a iPod dock and also takes like 8 batteries so it's portable.

More then likely that external drive is formatted the Windows NTFS format which Mac OS X can Read but it can not Write to that format. So you would need to copy all the data off that drive, to either a Windows PC or to your Mac, thenn use the Mac to format it for the Mac OS. Which would be Mac Extended (Journaled) with a Partition Table of GUID.
If you want to use that drive on both Mac and PC then you would need to format it either FAT32 or exFAT.

most reliable method found is get an AppleTV hooked to TV, and get program called BEAMER (free trial or $15 purchase application). Lots of programs CAN stream to TV via wifi, but many of them get audio syncing wrong/bad. Best addition upgrade to any Apple PC or laptop isnt internal, but the AppleTV BEAMER app is the best Apple/Mac app out there to me, ... After looking at a few of the links I found a mathematical equation that assisted me.
Inches = Pixels/DPI
eg: 3 inches = 300 pixels/100 DPI
Using this equation and the fact that iPhone 4s takes photos that are 3264 x 2448 I was able to work out the largest print I could make with 300 DPI.
Width 3264 pix/ 300 DPI = 10.88 inches
Height 2448 pix/ 300 DPI = 8.16 inches
Therefore, the largest print (with 300DPI) I can make of these photos is 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches.
Which is great!
So is it critical for me to change the dpi in say photoshop or does it not matter as long as I don't go above the 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches?
From what I can gather the smaller I resize the photo the higher the DPI and the bigger I stretch the photo the lower the DPI?

I know this doesn't help you much, but, I think you have to see if your Mac pro does audio out via HDMI. I don't even know if mine does via DVI. I think it may have to do with the adapter. Try going into Audio MIDI and setting the digital out to multichannel
and using the toslink cable for now. Lemme see...apparently DVI does not carry audio at all. Hm. apparently monoprice could be helpful? If I understand what you're saying correctly: you want to take DVI and multichannel audio via the Toslink and have it all go out over HDMI, right?
