I have a problem with my windows 8 - suddenly C driver turns to NTFS and Windows Refresh or Remove does not working.
How can I perform format without windows cd?

Are you sure to perform a format ? You will lose all the data in the drive after you performed a format.

What is the exact issue? Do you mean the original format of the C drive is FAT32 or other formats except the NTFS format ?

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. You need to discard or save to an external disk and then discard some of the stuff we all tend to keep forever (movies, music, pictures, docs, apps no longer used, etc.). A clogged up disk also does not function ideally either.

Soo - as mentioned every time I open photoshop it crashes - it just says there's an error and the program will shut down and if there's a solution windows will notify me. Then nothing...

I have just created a JInternalFrame appclication and now I want to structure up my code. I have a Superclass that contains the usual settings for the two JInternalFrame:s, and the two subclasses with frame specific information. Both the JInternalFrames use the same OK button. I want to have the actionListener outside the classes to avoid repetition of code. But the dispose()-function does not work properly, it does not close the opened JInternalFrame. What�s wrong?

First of all I think I misunderstood your question. You said you had two internal frames, so I thought you wanted to close the internal frame.
It now looks to me like you want to close the entire JFrame, which makes the code even a little easier. Something like:

Go to iPhoto>Preferences...>Accounts...and remove the MobileMe account. Then go to System Preferences...>MobileMe, and sign out.

Installed my SSD from my Windows 8 PC onto it getting the bootmgr is missing. I formatted the SSD but when I try and plug in my external harddrive to restore my mac settings I backed up using time machine, the computer doesn't show it as an option.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro. I had a windows 8 pc that had hardware issues that didn't deal with the harddrive. When I got the mbp, I installed the SSD from my windows 8 pc into the macbook. Before doing this, I made a time machine backup on my external hard drive. When I booted up the macbook pro with the windows 8 SSD in it, windows 8 started up. I tried formating the harddrive from within windows but it wouldn't work. From there, I put a spare windows 7 ultimate disk into the macbook and formatted the hard drive using that. Now, bootmgr is missing error keeps coming up and I can't put my time maching backup onto the macbook. Quick replies are appreciated, thanks!

You need to boot from an OS X installer disc compatible with this model's hardware or you must connect it by Target Disk Mode - Target Disk Mode - so you can re-partition and reformat the hard drive before you can install Mountain Lion on it or any other version of OS X. Here's the process:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
If you are preparing an external or a non-startup drive, then open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

How to format HDD for mixed Mac/Windows on shared USB drive

I've been doing a lot of reading so that I can get my new Seagate 500MB USB external drive connected via my AEBS. I'll be sharing the USB with a G3 PowerMac, an iBook, two XP and one Vista Laptop. I've been able to print from all machines to my Canon i960 and set up seemed easy. I'm confused as to how I should format the HD, should if be HFS+ so both windows and Mac can use? I've read some say MS-DOS partition will be best especially if you want to have bigger than 32GB partition and for files greater than 300MB. I'll be putting pictures, iTunes and likely some ripped DiVX videos as well as some DVR's to share across the network. I'll be using a Belkin powered USB Hub to connect the HD and the printer to the AEBS.

If you are connecting the drive to the USB port on theAirPort Extreme base station (AEBS), for best performance format the drive HFS+ (Mac OS Extended). Both Windows and Mac clients will be able to access and use the drive.
The only other formats recognized by the AEBS are FAT32 and FAT16.

Use the SMTP server that your outlook uses, if you look at the "Account Settings" > "More Settings" > "Outgoing Server" (Outlook 2007) you will see what server outlook is using. You can tell the Java Mail system to use this directly, bypassing outlook. Don't do it too often at once though, or it may decide you are spamming and shut you down.

AppleScript: How to reload a Safari window without bring the window to the foreground while I am on other Desktop space

I want to write an AppleScript to achive a simple task. That is, I open a Safari window on Desktop 1 and automatically reload every 30 minutes while I do my dialy work on desktop 2.
Here is my script:

This script works. However, whenever the script is executed, my current Desktop 2 will be brought back to Desktop 1. It is distracting to my workflow.
Is there any way to just let Safari to reload in the background without bring Safari window to foreground on Desktop 1?
I have done a coumple of researches; many of them say I should not use "activate" in my script. I tried that but then the script will just do nothing.

Firefox asks (twice) to save and close tabs, on new open windows without tabs, when i close them.

About one month ago, i started to receive a message box from firefox, asking if i wanted to save and close tabs, on newly open windows (and pop-ups) without any tabs open on them.
And everytime i close the windows without tabs, firefox asks it twice...
I did not made any changes, so i don't know why it started doing this.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

How to Format an External Drive for Windows-only

I'm a mac user, and I'm selling a used external hard drive on eBay. I want to offer to format it correctly if a Windows user buys it, and I don't want to assume newbie eBay people will have the knowledge/interest in formatting themselves.
Will "MS-DOS (FAT)" work perfectly fine for a modern Windows user? If not, is there some other way I can format this thing on my end?

I found s/w called Tuxera NTFS for Mac allowing you to format NTFS on a Mac. Costs $31 but there's a 15 day free trial.
There's also a freeware app floating around out there using MacFuse and NTFS-3G, but there are conflicting reports on Mavericks compatibility and overall reliability.
