How to format without re installing software in macbook pro

gd mng one and all
i accidentally opened adult sites so i think there is some virus in this mac so i would like to erase all the information on this mac without re installing the software as it is a lengthy process. kindly inform the best solution for it.
thank u.

Without any specific symptoms, there is no reason whatsoever to believe you are infected with anything. Mac malware is quite rare and very difficult to become infected with. Mac adware is less rare, but has definite symptoms associated with it. The past symptoms you describe with iTunes and with your iPod are not malware-related.
Unless there's something else going on that you're not mentioning, you can relax and stop worrying about malware.

  • How to install software on macbook pro

    Hi,
So I have the Macbook Pro with the Retina display. It does not have a CD-rom slot.
I have a Logic software that I want to install for my laptop. I installed this software on my previous Macbook that had a CD-rom slot.
Does anyone know how to install such a big file/program without having it to do a MacBook Share from another laptop?

If you know someone with one, ask if you can borrow it. Otherwise, using another computer's internal drive is the free way; there is no credit in the Mac App Store for having bought the DVD version of a product.

  • How many RAMs can i install into my macbook pro-13 inches?

I'm considering to buy RAMs for my mac, originally there are two 2GB RAMs installed,is there only 2 plugs? Do i need to replace the original RAM or i can just add the new RAM into my mac?

There are 'only' two slots for RAM modules in the 13" MacBook Pros.
So you have to replace the RAMs that are curently in it.
Pick the one you have from this list http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/index-macbookpro.html to see how much RAM you can out into it.

  • How much RAM can I install in my Macbook Pro?

    I have a late 2011 model Macbook Pro. It is a 13 inch with 2.8 Ghz Intel i7 duo core processor and 4 GB (2 x 2) RAM. Can I upgrade to 16 GB (2 x 8) RAM?

Installing RAM in a 2011-2012 MacBook Pro
There is really only one way to install RAM into a 2011-2012 MacBook Pro and while there are hundreds of DIY videos online, I just like this one, found on YouTube, by “macmixing”.
Note that there is a difference in the RAM that should be used in 2011 and 2012 models.
    2011 models must use:
    •204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
    And 2012 models must use:
    •204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
    So here's the video:
Remember that the 13", 15" and 17" 2011 models (early or late) and the 13" and 15" mid-2012 non-Retina models can handle 4GB, 8GB or (unofficially, but, believe me, it works) 16GB of RAM. There are, in my opinion, only three 100% Mac-compatible vendors out there: Corsair, Crucial and OWC. I really can't recommend any other brands, even though it may work, as these are the only brands that I've personally used in quite a while. Also remember to stay away from any RAM that is a “value” brand - Macs are picky about RAM and often these value RAM modules just don’t work very well.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • How to format HDD and reinstall OS on macbook pro mid 2010 without the installation DVD.

After updated the OS with MAVERICKS becomme my macbook very slow. So I want to format the HDD and reinstall the OS but without the installation DVD - (lost).
Could some one advise me how to proceed? Thank you

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X Lion and newer include OS X Recovery to reinstall Mac OS X without the need of a DVD. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
First of all, copy your most important files to an external drive, or make a backup of your files. Then, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting, open Disk Utility and erase Macintosh HD by choosing it in the Disk Utility's sidebar and going to Erase tab.
Finally, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X

  • How do i remove file or software from macbook pro

i installed some programs and now i want to remove them from my macbook how do i do it??

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.

  • How much RAM can I install on my MacBook Pro?

I'm thinking of upgrading the RAM on my MacBook Pro 13-inch Late 2012 Non-Retina with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 chip in it. I currently have 4GB of RAM in it (2x4) and I want to upgrade to 16GB of RAM (2x8). Can I do this upgrade?

Sure, you can remove the Ram that you have and replace it with 2 x 8GB chips. Macs are picky about Ram, buy it from OWC, or Crucial.

  • Lost Elements when I installed Yosemite on Macbook Pro

I have just installed the new Yosemite OS on both my older iMac desktop (early 2008) and my one month old Macbook Pro. Photoshop Elements 9.0.3 installed along with everything else just fine on the older iMac BUT I lost it entirely during the upload to the nearly new Macbook Pro. How can I get it installed on my Macbook Pro? Both are running Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.

Greetings Mycrazylive – Thank you for the added details. I see you reside in the Netherlands. I suspected that you were a non-USA user.
Both Barbara B.’s and GoletaMum’s advice are good suggestions. Barbara B.’s advice is more intricate, and involves “deleting & trashing” actions. Therefore, I would suggest, first, trying GoletaMum’s, “…re-installing PSE -- and make sure you've updated Yosemite… find PSE 11 and reinstall it, then run the updates… first, make sure your MacOS is up to date.” --- If you are lucky, executing a clean reinstall of the Photoshop Elements 11 application you purchased and downloaded from i-Tunes to your “Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch medio 2012,” back in JAN 2014, after you re-update to “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.1, might resolve your problem.
If GoletaMum’s suggestion does not resolve things for you, consider cautiously and intelligently proceeding with implementing the technical procedural details of “Adobe top contributor…MEMBER SINCE: August 16, 2002…Adobe Community Professional” Barbara B.’s “Resolution-Fix.”
It is not clear to me what is going on between your MacBook Pro computer & Apple Central’s “Gatekeepers,” with regard to “After startup…asks to sign up with my Apple ID…then…gives the error message: YOUR DEVICE OR COMPUTER COULD NOT BE VERIFIED.”
Did you install “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.0, first, and then do an install of the “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.1 update, after which your problems with PSE 11 began to appear or did you go from some other Pre-(???) “Yosemite” [???...Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks???] OS X (where PSE 11 functioned), and then upgrade straight to “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.1 from there, rather than upgrading to and then from a “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.0 install?
FYI: I am running the PSE 11 Application on a 15.3-Inch MacBook Pro “Retina” (2013) at “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.1, and no longer have any problems with PSE 11.
Read my prior posts on this thread for the background on the “Trackpad Glitch In PSE 11,” which installation of “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.0 caused to happen to PSE Elements 11 running on my MacBook Pro. I was running PSE 11 with the latest “Mavericks” OS X version update before updating to the baseline, initial “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.0, after which my “Trackpad, et.al. ‘Glitches’ with PSE 11” commenced. Installation of the “Yosemite” OS X version 10.10.1 update resolved my “Trackpad Glitch In PSE 11.”

  • HT1349 How do I go about installing software from a disc onto my ipad2? I have no external drive, but do have a PC with iTunes on it. Someone suggested I could load it into iTunes and then sync with the iPad, but this suggestion doesn't seem to work.

How do I go about installing software from a disc (a language programme) onto my ipad2? Someone told me if I downloaded it to iTunes on my PC I could then sync it to the iPad but hav not been able to do that.

Even if there was a convenient way, the software will not run on the pad.  Ios is a unique language, and only programs written for ios will run on the pad.   All of the programs are in the app store.  You might look there and see if the company that makes your sfotware also has an ios version, which would be in the store.

You may be able to download and install the update from here: Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.01
If I upgrade to Yosemite will I be forced to go to the new Photos program
No. After upgrading (and of course make a back up first) you will need to update iPhoto to v9.6.1 (you won't be able to do this prior to upgrading). Here's how:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
Photos is v1 of a new app, as yes it's not as mature as iPhoto. It uses a different technology for working with external editors. That requires Adobe to write an extension to let it hook into the new app. Not done yet, neither has anyone else.
Going forward: iPhoto will run on OS 10.10., but there is no guarantee for subsequent versions of the OS. You might want to factor that into your anger term thinking.

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that.  iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.
