How to free up space on the iPhone 4S?

I only have 1.4 GB left on my 30GB iPhone.
I have about 1500 songs, about 600 photos (includes camera roll and photostream) and 4 albums, 56 camera phone videos, 72 Music Videos and 76 Apps.
All my songs are AAC which saves space. As for everything else, i have been removing videos and pictures I don't need on the phone but I am still at 1.4 GB available.
Based on what I posted here, what can I do besides darn near removing everything to free up more space on my iPhone? I see I have 5GB allowed for me to use icloud but how do I use that? Can I put pics, videos, and music on the cloud?
When I went to www.icloud.com, I didn't see anywhere that suggested I could put my music, pictures, and videos on the cloud.
Thanks!

iCloud is primarily for syncing data across devices (mail, calendars, contacts, bookmarks, etc.), backing up your phone's data, allowing you to download purchased music, apps & books, providing temporary (30 day) storage for photos until you can download them on other devices, and storing documents and data created in iWord apps.  You access iCloud by going to https://www.icloud.com/.  An option to store your non-purchased music is to subscribe to iTunes Match.  Beyond that, you can't really upload data.  If you're looking for a more general cloud-based storage solution to upload your data take a look at Dropbox.

I can't update my iphone with the 6.0 because I don't have enough memory. Whats the best way to free up space? I have already deleted some pictures and music..

Delete whatever files you don't need anymore and transfer data to an external hard drive. You can download and run OmniDiskSweeper. This application shows you all the files on your harddrive and what files are taking up the most space, just open the application and run it on your hardrive.

  • How can I free up space on my iphone without connecting to itunes?

How can I free up space on my iphone (by posibbly deleting some music) without connecting to my mac itunes? I'm travelling abroad for some time so can't access my itunes account on my mac at home and the iphone is full. I thought I'd left enought room for plenty of new apps, but alas no. So I need more room for more apps. We have my partners PC laptop with her itunes loaded if thats any use. I've deleted and backed up all my iphone photos already. Thanks.

Claiming that it can be done, but not telling him how is not all that helpful. We were dying for you to share the steps that he must take.

The process is just like deleting an unwanted email in your inbox. Simply find the track(s) you don’t want on your iOS 5 device anymore, slide your finger over the track listing to the left or the right to reveal a hidden “delete” button, and then select “delete” and the track is gone. Unfortunately there’s no mass delete option, so those Backstreet Boys songs are gonna have to be deleted one at a time.

The only way you can do that is to import them into your library first, but you may have done that already.
The easiest way to tell is to select a photo from the photostream album in iPhoto and ctrl-click on it, if it gives you the option to import it isn't in your iPhoto library, if it offers you the option to show in library it has already been imorted.

Connect the computer to another Mac and put it in FireWire Target Disk mode, or use the Disk Utility to clone the drive or image specific folders with the USB drive as the target. After you've copied off everything you want, you'll likely need to erase the drive and reinstall the applications.

  • HT4623 I lost my apps and iTunes after a restore, but it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone 4. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos, but I'm still getting the same message.

I did an iphone 4 software update. It then asked me to do a "restore" in order for me to be able to use the latest iTunes. I did a "restore" to "factory settings" (this was the only option listed) thinking I'd be able to sync later and get everything back and ended up losing all my purchased apps and iTunes. When I open iTunes, "Welcome to your new iphone" and it says I can re-do the "restore" and choose my lastest update. I assume this will give me back my apps and iTunes. When i choose to do this, it says there isn't enough space on the iPhone. How do I know how much space needs to be freed up? I keep deleting photos and videos from the phone, but I'm still getting the same message every time I re-try. I don't want to delete everything, but I don't know what to do...? Thanks!

Thanks but I think it has something to do with the 'restore'. in the newest iTunes 11, when I click on the tab "iphone", it redirects me to the "welcome to your new iphone" page and asks about doing a 'restore'. I already did a 'restore', but it went to the original factory settings and I want to 'restore' to my lastest back up as of April 12. When I choose that option, it says my iphone doesn't have enough space. I don't know how much I need to delete in order to make it work. I've deleted lots, but it only has 4.1 GB available. I'm not sure why this isn't enough to do a 'restore'. I don't want to delete all my photos and videos, but maybe I will have to?...7.7GB is used up for that. I can't sync or do ANYTHING...

  • I have all my music in iTunes and have "Music Match" turned on.  Apparently, I also have music on my iPhone 5.  I need to free up space on my iPhone.  If I delete the music on my phone, will it still be available to me on my phone via the cloud?

The same is true for photo's.  I have too many photo's on my phone taking up space.  Now I realize I can remove a lot of the photo's via sync options, but ...

This can happen if iTunes gets confused about what is and isn't on the device. These steps should resolve.
    Backup the device.
    Restore as a new device.
    Restore the backup made earlier.

  • HT201317 if my photos are uploaded to Photo Stream, can I delete them from my iPhone to free up space on the device?

if my photos are uploaded to Photo Stream, can I delete them from my iPhone to free up space on the device?

If you delete them from the Photo Stream folder on your device they will also be deleted from Photo Stream in iCloud and your other devices.  You can delete them from Camera Roll to free up space.  However, Photo Stream only stores up to 1000 photos for 30 days (not permanently).  If you want to save your photos permanently, a better solution is to import them to your computer by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  You can then choose the option to delete them from your device after importing to free up space.  If you still want some of these photos on your device, you can put them in a folder on your computer and then sync them back to your device by selecting to do so on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings.

  • HT204022 I want to delete my pictures off iPhone because I want to free up space on the Phone. I have the pics on iCloud on my computer in my pics fdlder. I do not want to delete off computer, will it?

I want to delete my pictures off iPhone because I want to free up space on the Phone. I have the pics on iCloud on my computer in my pics fdlder. I do not want to delete off computer, will it?

Open the iCloud control panel on your computer and click "Options" next to "Photo Stream". The pictures must not be copied into either of the folders listed, any other folder is fine.
Before you delete all the photos from your phone I would recommend that you only delete one, at first, to check that it is not deleted from your computer.

  • TS4431 unable to free up space on my iphone 5c

I am unable to free up space on my iphone 5c to install the latest softwere.

If you connect your iPhone to your Mac with its USB cable and use iTunes to update the operating system the download will go to the Mac's hard drive and get installed from there instead of saving the updater on the iPhone.
How much free space do you have on your iPhone?  If it gets too low you'll have problems taking additional photos, videos, etc.
