How to generate a crash (or bug) report

I am trying to work with Soho notes (documents management: scanning, archieving, ....). I have a problem while using one functionality of this software: the mouse pointer becomes the spinning wheel with all the colors. After I have waited more than 5 mns like this I have to force Soho Notes to quit. The customer support for Soho asked me to send a crash report in order to help fixing the issue. Can somebody help on how to generate such report. Thanks in advance.

Double click on the file and it will open in the Console. Copy and Paste it into an email

First thing would be to realise the exact error. Second would be to check your logs to see what you have installed/upgraded which might be causing this error. Third, google your error and see if matches turn up. Fourth, search in Arch bugtracker to see if a match exist. Else file a report.

I have a problem with generating Income Statement related reports from CRYSTAL.
For example,
My revenue accounts are: '411000-00-00' and '412000-00-00', my expense accounts are: '510000-00-00' and '520000-00-00'.
I'd like to generate the Income statement for Dec 1 - 31, 2008. Please advise how to generate this report. Thanks!

Currently, what I tested to generate the income statement is:
1. find out the account detail table: JDT1. My database path: Company Name -> dbo -> Tables -> JDT1
2. follow the standard report menu: add 'JDT1', show 'RefDate', 'ContraAct'; group by'Account', summarize by 'Account'.
I have the following problems:
1. with this method, I am not able to find the amount for each transaction. Because the amount does not have a name as 'RefDate' or some other fields.
2. the 'Account' and 'ContraAct' are all shown as 'SYS00000001685'. It's sysmtem message but not the actual account number or contra account number.

I am afraid not.ATR are attributes files contains the object's full name, access controllist (ACL), description, and so on.Each catalog object has a corresponding attributes file, I am not sure why do you have to generate the atr files.In case you need info about atr files: http://businessdecisionsystems.com/blog/?p=7
If you have huge number of similar reports(with filter variations and same kind of layout), try to play around with the xml to minimize the development effort.

How/where to file a iphone bug report by a user

i am just a user. i am not a developer. i would like to file a bug report regarding a bonjour networking "feature."

It may not be possible to see the output of the SAME report in Excel as well. You will have to design another report which can open in Excel. You can follow this demo:

Then you can add an action to your button so that it opens the new report in a new browser window. This new browser window will open MS Excel and show the report inside Excel.
The reason that you can't output the SAME report in HTML as well as MS Excel is because we use page contentType to specify the application that the browser should open the document in (the application can be MS Word, MS Excel, etc). For example,
<%@ page contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
But we can only specify one contentType for a JSP, so the report can either be viewed as HTML or inside MS Excel.

How apex generate LOV values for Interactive report

For interactive report, does APEX full table/index scan to generate the LOV drop down list every time user click the column header? If I set max row count to 100, does LOV values only derived from the first 100 rows that apex hits?
If I enter SQL query in "list of value definition", will that sql get executed every time users click the column header or the result is cached?
For standard and interactive report, does APEX parse (soft/hard) the sql statement again when user do pagination?

How to generate Bar codes from Crystal Report

I understand that Bar Codes can be genrated from Crystal reports. I am using CR 2008 and trying to convert my Inventory items to bar codes. it does convert it and I can see the bar codes but it looks like; just a garbage and scanner does not recognze it plus the numners are missing @ the bottom.
Anybody has ever tried this and have some simple instructions to start with.

What barcode are you using and what barcode font?
If you are using Code39 or Postnet then you need to make sure your values are formatted properly by creating a formula and using the barcode functions.
Have a search in the forum for barcodes. It's been talked about a lot and you should find your solution.

Reproducible Sloooooow Backup Bug (how do I submit a bug report?)

I've been having incredibly slow backup problems with my iPad. My wife was foolish enough to leave her iPad here today, so I'm doing some experiments, and I think I've identified the problem.
Her system had 2.5 gigs of stuff on it, and took less than 2 minutes to backup in iTunes on my desktop computer. I added ComicZeal, and copied 2 gigs of comics (261 issues) onto the machine. It took 90 minutes to back up.
Delete the comics, less than a minute to backup.
Add two gigs of music, less than 5 minutes to back up.
Add back two gigs of Comic Books in ComicZeal, and I gave up on the backup at the 75 minute mark (about 2/3 through).
So how do I file an official bug report?

Yep, this is consistent with what I'm seeing with cloudreader (and other pdf readers the in this case the files were pdfs but also coincidentally comic files as above). After an excruciating first back up the first time I synced, subsequent backups were reasonable (5-10 mins).. until I added a large number of pdfs to various installed pdf readers via itunes app sync tab (I was testing the different apps to see how they handled large pdfs). Adding the files to itunes took minutes but the subsequent backup the next time took hours - I've been following the hidden backup folder and the new back up files are similar in size to the pdfs. Using the time stamps on the backup files, one 100meg file took about 20 minutes to back up. I've tried both the original ipad cable and my iphone cable but little difference in speed. By contrast, my 8gb iphone backs up in 5 minutes is full but does not have any pdfs stored on it.
So Apple either needs to speed up / fix the sync or at least give the user more control over what is and isnt backed up.

How to do a union with a report query

I've looked all over but can't seem to find any documentation that would suggest how to generate a union for a report query.
The "all java" method would be two disparate report queries and then co-mingle the results. But wed really like to have Oracle do the union and process only one result set.
We are trying desperately to avoid the code the SQL yourself solution.
Why a union? The Toplink expression generates SQL that takes Oracle over a minute to resolve. The Oracle Plan/Optimizer has several joins and full table scans in it that burn up the clock. If we break the expression apart at a very important or clause each of the individual expressions takes a second or so no full table scans. If we manually bolt the two expressions back together with a union the home grown expression takes a couple of seconds as the Oracle Optimizer executes each select and then combines the results.
So any suggestions about how to get a Toplink union would be appreciated.

I'm not much of a DBA or SQL guru, but here are a couple thoughts:
- Is it possible to use a hint in association with the query to help Oracle with the join? Specifying hints is a new feature in 904 and may be your best solution here.
- I don't think there is any union facility in the expression framework, but you might want to take a look at making an ExpressionOperator to do this. I think if you search this forum for ExpressionOperator you would hit some ideas.
- Would it be reasonable or feasable to break the queries in two and then do the union in the middle tier? Just thinking out loud...

First get the position of Manager Employee. Then get all the subordinate Positions using relation ship 002 (Reports to) then ,
for all the subordinate positions get the employees for that positions. And for that employees get the absence details. This logic will gives the employees who will directly reports to Manager. To get all the employees we need to loop until all the subordinates reached or you can use RH_STRUC_GET to get hierarchy

Exporting the Contents of a Spool Request
Use
You want to export the content of a spool request in one of the following ways:
·        As a text file to the SAP GUI working directory
·        Unconverted or as a table, RTF, or HTML to a directory of your choice
·        As a PDF file to a directory of your choice
Procedure
Follow the procedure below:
Exporting to the SAP GUI Working Directory
If you are exporting large quantities of data, downloading the spool request as a text file to the SAP GUI working directory is a good solution.
Choose Spool Request ® Forward® Export as Text.
The entire text is stored in your SAP GUI working directory in ASCII format.
A file of this type is named using the following pattern:

Example: ABC0000004327.txt
You require appropriate authorization for this function from your administrator.
Exporting Unconverted or as a table, RTF, or HTML to a Directory of Your Choice
With this method of exporting a spool request, the content of the spool request is first displayed, and you then download the content in the format of your choice to a directory of your choice.
       1.      Select the spool request to be exported and choose Display Contents.
       2.      In the case of SAPscript/Smart Forms documents, activate list display by choosing Goto.
       3.      Choose System ® List ® Save ® Local File.
       4.      Choose one of the available formats and confirm your choice.
       5.      Choose a directory and save the spool request.
By default, only the first 10 pages of a spool request are saved in a file. You can increase the number of pages to be saved by choosing Goto ® Display Requests ® Settings and making the desired entries in the Display Area group box.
Exporting as a PDF File
You want to export the contents of a spool request as a PDF file to a directory of your choice, and print the file as required. The PDF file contains the print data in the format in which it would be output by the printer.
The following procedure is irrelevant for the printing of PDF-based forms, since a PDF file is already returned with this method. See also Displaying and Printing PDF-Based Forms.
You also require authorization from your administrator to run this report.
The PDF file is generated as follows with report RSTXPDFT4:
       1.      Generate a spool request from the document to be printed.
       2.      In transaction SE38, start report rstxpdft4.
       3.      In the displayed window, enter the spool request number and the directory in which the PDF file is to be stored.
Leave the Download PDF File option selected.
Choose Execute.
       4.      In the next window, you can confirm or change the path in which the file is be stored.
Save your entries.
       5.      The system displays a log from which you can see whether the report was successfully performed.
You can then open the file from the directory and print it as required.
Restrictions for Exporting as a PDF File
·        The PDF conversion only supports true bar codes for Smart Forms, which were generated with the new bar code technology as of SAP NetWeaver 04. In all other cases, the bar code is only simulated.
·        PDF conversion, especially of ABAP lists, is slower and is therefore not suitable for mass printing. However, you can speed up the conversion to PDF using the FASTLISTCONV option in report RSTXPDF3.
·        The font selection for ABAP lists is predefined in the PDF converter and cannot be changed.

How to do a bug report when firefox doesn't crash ?

Hello everybody,
I have Firefox nightly since a long time now. But since the beginning of the week, I've got some issues with it. New packages doesn't changed anything.
I have 2 Firefox windows opened, but I can only go to one of them, the other one is inaccessible. I can see it with the Windows task-bar, but, when I click on it nothing occurs.
I'd like to open a bug report, but I don't know what information I have to send with it : everything is about crash report and it isn't.
And yes, I tried to restart with plug-in disabled, ... and it doesn't change anything.

I would suggest first of all that you try using a normal release of Firefox. It is easy to use both an ordinary release and another version of Firefox on the same computer,post again if you need help with that.
It is possible the problem you see is not unique to firefox nightly and may even relate to the use of Windows 7.
