How to get 10.4 on my new 10.5 macBook Pro
I need to install OSX 10.4 on my new MacBook Pro 2.44gHz which came with 10.5 (which I cannot use and really don't like much) and when I try to install 10.4 it won't allow it. It says can't install on this Mac. What can I do?? Maybe it's my older 10.4 install dvd.

You need to use a Mac OS X 10.4 disk designed for that model of Mac if one exists; if not, you cannot run Mac OS X 10.4 on that machine. The retail package will not work.

Get the correct settings for your account from Yahoo and set it up manually.
By the way, I also find the "password" issue problematical. It seems Apple want my Apple password rather than my eMail password. All very confusing.

How to get rid of shadowed border around screen on MacBook Pro?
Just wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of this shadowed border on the screen of my macbook pro. I think my young daughter made it appear when she was striking various keys at random on my computer when I was not there. The cursor does not work when its over the shadow (i.e. will not depress the red 'x' button to exit a window and I have to drag window out from under shadow to close it).
It also appears in the middle of screen when airplay is turned on. (See screen shots below)
I have been unable to find any other discussion on this issue.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro 13" with Lion. I have a IMac desktop and want to put my address book from it to the MacBook Pro and don't know how to do it. Can someone help me with this? I also need to move my word documents. I have Microsoft Word for Mac 2004, Version 11.6.3 on the desktop. Is it possible to move over also?
Office 2004 wont work on Lion 10.7. You should upgrade. From your iMac:
User/Library/Application Support. Copy the AddressBook folder to the desktop of your new MBP. On the MBP:
From the Finder. Hold down the option key and click on Go from the menu and select Library. That'll open the User/Library folder. Open the Application Support folder and put your AddressBook folder there. Moving documents: Connect the two with firewire cables. The iMac should be shut down. Boot the iMac while holding down the 't' key. That'll boot it into target disk mode and you should see the iMac's hard drive on the MBP's desktop. Copy the files over. -

If you Macbook Pro is a 2009 model the mini display port does not carry audio. You must use a separate audio cable from your computer's audio out to your TV's audio in.

Thanks for the post. With this one, check this:
To repair disk permissions: Open Finder. Select Apps. Search for Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility. Select the drive the OS is installed on. Click Repair Disk Permissions. Try scanning now.
If you are still having scanning issues, then: See if uninstalling and re-installing the printer's software and driver will correct the problem. Good Luck!

How to get rid of tap to click delay in MacBook Pro
Does anybody have any suggestions for getting rid of this delay? When i tap, i have to wait likely .5 sec to open any folder or link.
On my MBP, most of the files and folders that I click on are retrieved almost instantaneously ex. iCal, Finder, text edit. Some like iTunes and Aperture take several seconds. The response time with the Internet is all over the map. I am assuming that with the smaller applications and files you are experiencing this delay.
I scoured the Apple support files and found no information regarding your issue. Perhaps you should look on the right hand side of this page where ii says 'More Like This'. If you do not find the answer there and still see this as a problem, go to the Genius Bar at an Apple store.
Perhaps some more knowledgeable person will see this post and have a solution.
I'm sad to say I can't do any thing more for you.

Replacing System hard drive with a new one. How to get everything over to the new boot drive? Should I use Carbon Copy or does apple have a better untility to do this?
I can't get my current system drive (OSX 10.8.3) to start on the first try. I always have to shut down and restart again to finally see the Apple logo.
Have used disc utility to repair the disc and permissions several times and that works. The next time I boot up, it works fine and I get the apple logo, but then the second time I boot up, it's back to the blank screen again and it only boots after the second try. I have tried this repair three different times now always with the same result. Works right the first try (after the repair) then from the second time on it doesn't work. I just get the white screen until I reboot a second time.
Thinking I should change drives but what's the easist and best way to move everything over to the new drive so it will boot correctly with all my data on it. This is the system drive for a Pro Tools 10HD setup. MacPro 3,1 with 16 gigs ram and OSX10.8.3 on it.

Shut down your computer, install the new drive. While the computer is off plug in the external hard drive that you have your time machine back up on. Hold Option key while the computer turnes on, let go of the option key once you get a grey screen. Shortly after you'll see a list of bootable drives, select the one that has your time machine back up on it and boot into that drive.
From there go into disk utility, format your new drive too, osx extended journaled ( I think, double check that, its been awhile since ive had to do this), hit format
Exit disk utility and then you can use time machine to copy all your exisit data to the new hhd and then your pretty much done.
There is also a program called Carbon Cloner that will do esentially the same thing however I've never uesed it. -
