How to get 802.11n speed for Apple TV?

I installed my first Apple TV yesterday. Great stuff!
My iTunes movie library is on a Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. I have not yet used the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler on this MacBook, since I just found out it exists. If I use it, can I utilize 802.11n sync speeds with the Apple TV? How?
My AirPort network uses only an "old" 802.11g AirPort Extreme base station, not the "new" AirPort Extreme base station with 802.11n.
I have three 802.11g AirPort Express base stations on my network, mainly for using AirTunes.
My iMac connects to my wireless network using 802.11g, and I don't think the 802.11n Enabler works with it.
My cable modem current connects to my Airport Extreme (802.11g) base station via Ethernet.
I understand I can get a new AirPort Extreme 802.11n base station to replace the 802.11g one, and that would let me use the higher 802.11n speed from the MacBook to the Apple TV. It would also allow (unless I misunderstand) all my 802.11g devices to access the network at the lower speeds they are capable of. Correct?
I also understand there is something called a "dual band network" that involves using both base station types in one large network, but I don't know what the advantage of doing that would be, compared with just replacing the old base station. Can someone fill me in on that?
And, is there any way to get 802.11n speeds from the MacBook Pro to the Apple TV without getting an 802.11n base station?
Thanks in advance.

No. Unless you set up an adhoc network between your Mac and the Apple TV.

Yes, it would.

If you set things up this way, then I believe you wont be able to use wideband mode on the AEBSn. Your AEBSn will be opperating in mixed mode and its 802.11n performance will be degraded. The best set up would be to keep your old router to service the G only devices, and have your new AEBSn service the N capable devices. This would allow you to take full advantage of the performance increase provided by 802.11n capable devices.

How to complain to Apple about this company and how to get a formally answer for problem with Apple agent in Kuwait??

You did not buy your iphone from an Apple store.  No Apple employee sold you anything.
Your complaint is not with Apple.  You bought from an unauthorized seller.  Your complain is with that seller.
As you have been told more than once, Apple has nothing to do with this.

  • 802.11n Extreme + Airport Express on same WDS w/802.11n speed?

I'm traveling now, but when I get home on Monday morning a factory refurb Core2Duo Macbook Pro waiting for me. I've had an Airport Extreme 802.11n for a couple months now and would love to upgrade the network for 802.11n (for faster transfer speeds to the Airdisk I use as the depository for all my music). but I have an Airport Express I want to keep on the same network (in order to stream internet radio to my stereo since that feature was conveniently left out of the Apple TV, though the Express also serves as a bridge for my Xbox 360 & PS3). Is there a way to configure a WDS so I can keep the Express in the loop and enjoy 802.11n speeds? I read the Apple support doc, and it was kinda vague about whether it would work if I followed the model that involves running an Ethernet cable from the Extreme to the Express? I'd hoped the manual would clear things up, but it only left me more confused...

I have a similar issue here, only I'm keeping my snow Airport base station around just in case. I assume the following will work:
    Airport Extreme 802.11n
    -connects via ethernet cable to-
    Airport Snow
    -which connects wirelessly to-
    Airport Express.
The Snow has a spare ethernet out, which can connect to a PS3, Network Area Storage Hard Drive, or a TiVo at 802.11n (or higher, since it's all wired) speeds.
The Airport Express has AirTunes out of the mini jack.
My only question is this: does having the Airport Express connected to the Airport Snow (via 802.11g, I assume) put a drag on the overall 802.11n speeds? Or because the Snow and the Express are only on "bridge" setting, it's a non-issue?

  • 802.11n Enabler for MacBook Pro not included

Apple's page about the Airport Extreme Base Station says, "Most new Mac computers ship with built-in 802.11n wireless support that can be easily enabled with the installation of enabler software included with new AirPort Extreme wireless base station (see sidebar)."
Yesterday I purchased the Airport Extreme 802.11n WiFi Wireless Base Station (Model MB053ZA/A A1143). I have installed it OK and it is running fine. But I now want to "enable" 802.11n on my MacBook Pro but can not figure out how to do it.
I have searched everywhere through the box and looked everywhere on the one install disk (disk version 2.1 2Z681-6107-A) but I can not find anything that looks like enabler software for the WiFi network card in my MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo. The en1 page in Network Utility shows Model: Wireless Network Adapter (802.11 a/b/g).
How is the enabler normally shipped in the AirPort Extreme wireless base station package? On a separate disk? On the install disk? As a free download?
    Regards
    Peter

There were several MacBook Pro models with 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processors. Your computer must be have a Core 2 Duo processor to qualify for the enabler.

There is only a single installation disk that is provided with the base station. The enabler software is located within the AirPort.mpkg package. There is a download, but it is not free. (ref: AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac)

  • Will there be a 802.11n enabler for my core duo MBP in the future????

I bought this mbp for 2400. and you are telling me i cant even take advantage of the 802.11n when it comes out. Does anyone have NEWS on whether the core duos will have support for the 802.11n.

<hr>i hope we mbp CD owners can swap the non 802.11n cards for the newer 802.11n cards in the mbp C2D... let's see.
actually it would be nice if someone from apple could post here if that's possible, and if not, why....<hr>
Based on Apple's past track record, I don't see it happening. However, as I've pointed out in at least one other thread, all hope is not lost: For $119 you can get an 802.11n ExpressCard from Belkin. With the Airport card in the MBP turned off, you'll probably get about the same battery life.

  • How to enable 802.11N extended network and WPA2 Personal Security?

    Hello,
I have an aiport express 802.11N, using Radio Mode 802.11N (5Ghz only) and set to "allow this network to be extended". At the same time the wireless security is set to "WPA2 Personal" (and the key defined). This router is also hooked up to the internet as the main bridge.
On the other side, I have an airport extreme set exactly the same way from a security standpoint (WPA2 Personal) and for this one, the wireless is set to "extend a wireless network".
    Both routers have their light green and my computer is wired to the airport extreme. The computer gets its IP address from the main dhcp server and I can FTP to any ftp site; I can ping any machines on my network;
Now the problem:I can not browse the internet nor ping any website. Http traffic is completely blocked.
If I reset the security to none on both routers, I can then access the internet without any problem.
Has anybody been succesful with this configuration and what am I doing wrong?

You need to download and install the AirPort Extreme 802.11n* Enabler for Mac. But it will cost you --- $1.99. Order it from the Apple Store:

  • 802.11n connection with Apple Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I have a 2009 Mac book pro notebook. I would like to purchase a router that would allow me to create a wireless network to which I can connect at 802.11n speed.
My understanding was that, at least until recently, Apple had their own version of 802.11n that was not guaranteed to connect to non-Apple routers.
Can any/all recent current 802.11n Linksys routers connect with Mac Pros using 802.11n?
    Thanks

You can go for Linksys "N" Routers..Some good model no are WRT160N,WRT320N,WRT610N...

  • 802.11n upgrades for iMac & MacBook

For any who have been waiting for upgrades for older intel machines Quickertek has new user installable 802.11n cards for iMacs & MacBooks.
    http://www.quickertek.com/80211N_upgrade.php
2 GHz Power PC iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

This has been said many times, but I'll say it again: Unless you're having them do the installation, the QuickerTek cards are a rip-off. You can save $100 by buying a Mac Pro Airport Extreme Upgrade card for $49. It's the same card that QuickerTek is selling for their MacBook, MacBook Pro, and iMac upgrades, which means they're getting about a 200% markup.

    Hi, pascalegadbois.
Thank you for the question.  From your question it seems like you are looking to change the language setting for a movie downloaded via Digital Copy.  If this is the case, then the instructions below will walk you through how to adjust the language settings.  Also, depending on the region the video was downloaded, not all languages are supported.

  • X120e WiFi Connection Speed - is 802.11n speed possible?

    Dear guru!
Could you please tell me what should I do in order to get 802.11n connection speed on my new x120e? The better speed I get is 65Mbs. On T500 I get 300Mbs with the same WiFi access point (so it definitelly depends on notebokk but not the infrastructure).
    Thanks in advance,
    Vadim

Check if your router has a Channel Width selection. Mine was defaulted on 20mhz, which yielded crap performance, after changing to 40mhz it works as good as it can on this 1x1 card and connects at 150mbps to the router where before it was 72mbps.

What do you mean by "get" and "transfer"?
If the shift register is not what you want, use a plan tunnel instead.
Typically, programmers are interested in the first, not last, error.

How to get rid of an old Apple ID on my iphone 5 ? The ID belongs to a store I bought my iphone from ,and it's in another country.

You can't.  That's the new security feature of iOS7 that users (and others) requested to prevent stolen devices from being restored by theives and reused.  Contact the "store" you purchased your phone from and see what they say.
