How to get a list in the album pane

Question

Down loaded the new version, now my albums show in big album pictures instead of a easily read list
cannot find how to change back to a list in the "album" pane
Funny, notice the new format online, more really big pictures that mean a lot of scrolling to find anything
itunes moving away from efficiency?
it is still unable to locate over 9,000 (was 4,000 when I last looked, at this rate itunes is losing files faster than I am converting them) missing files.
the earlier versions would locate the one missing file and use it to replace other missing files
now it seems I will have to re do them all, one album or audio book at a time
maybe easier to get an mp3 for my next device.

That field depends upon information in the Sort Album field for a song (found by highlighting a song and selecting File/Get Info/Sorting>Sort Album), but in my Library, very few songs have anything in there (even though most information came from Gracenote) and those that do, appear greyed out when I have that column showing (as you do) - and - the songs don't sort on that column, even when I ask iTunes to do so. To be honest, I can't see the point of that column.

Anyway, more to the point, in your view, if you want to sort by album name, why not use the column in your view currently named Album by Artist? If you click on the top of that column (not the arrow), it toggles between
Album by Artist ▲
Album by Artist/Year ▲
Album ▲
However - if once, it's on the one you want, click on the arrow itself to reverse the sort order. So if you have Album ▲ showing, simply click on that arrow to have Album ▼.
(I think this may be new in iTunes 11. Prior to this, simply clicking in the bar would toggle between every option.)

I cannot understand why the Show Column Browser should be greyed out in your iTunes. But as the browser is showing in your screenshot, that confirms that your iTunes can show the columns. I've already mentioned how to remove the two columns you don't want. If you manage to get that view back (and I don't see why you can't), then you would then have the choice of displaying only the artists in the column browser (I can do this in my iTunes, I've tried again just now), or using the Album ▲ option, see below.
I often need to check an album and I will use the the following view (but with the Artist and Genre in the Column Browser). For this example, I have removed Artists and Genre, to show the view you might use:

... this, have changed in iTunes 11, then old instructions will only serve to confuse you. In fact, I'd say that anyway. It's immaterial how or why you found instructions for iTunes 10, the fact is that if your're using iTunes 11, then reading instructions for iTunes 10 won't help you.
****************I agree, my point was not that I somehow chose to try to use an old instruction to work the new version, but that is what itunes presents on a search for instuctions, agree, confusing the issue.
