  • How to get Aperture on new MacBook

    Hello!
I purchased Aperture 1.0 on DVD and have also purchased updates to 2.x and 3.x via DVD.  Aperture 3.x is installed on my iMac and working well.
However, I have just purchased a Macbook Pro Retina and want to install it there as well.  Trouble is, you can no longer download the trial version and input your license key.  All downloads are restricted to the App Store.
I have my 2.x and 3.x upgrade DVD's, but can't find my original 1.x DVD.
So my question is, how do I go about getting some form of Aperture installed on the Macbook so I can license it and upgrade it?
I realize I can purchase it again via the App Store, but am trying to avoid that if at all possible.
Thank you in advance for any tips.
    Brian

Hi Brian.  Iirc, users have been able to overcome this relatively easily:

If you have a moment, post a message detailing your reaction to using Aperture on the rMBP -- it's a topic of some interest here.

  • ???????????HOW TO GET SURROUND SOUND ON MACBOOK???????????????????????

I have a macbook osx 10.5.8. I purchased some Logitech X-540 5.1 surround sound speakers to hook up to my laptop. There are 3 cables (an orange, green, and black) that come from the different speakers/subwoofer that are supposed to plug into the computer, but i can only plug in 1 of the 3 into the headphone jack my macbook. Here's some pics of the speakers:
    http://techgage.com/print/logitechx-540_51speakers
When I do so, only some of the speakers play, not all of them. I went to BestBuy and asked someone if surround sound is possible for a macbook, but he said "no". I have seen online many people claiming it is possible to get 5.1 surround sound for mac, but haven't figured out how. Can someone please be of some assistance????

Since you only want to play CD's why not just use the two for the normal Left/Right channels your CD was created with?
If you want to use ALL of your speakers, you'll need to invest in a USB or Firewire device that will connect to your Macbook and then allow you to connect all your speakers.

  • How to get library onto new MacBook

I just bought a new Macbook. My ipod video was always used on a pc. How do I get my library onto my new mac?

    Try Senuti.
It's a program that transfers music from iPod to iTunes on a Mac.
It should work with a Windows formatted iPod because Macs can read and write to FAT32 formatted drives.

  • How to get a revision D MacBook Pro in London, UK

I want ONLY revision D models, so here are few questions:
    1. are they available now in UK?
    2. if i went to the regent street apple store, can i actually open the package and test the machine (to make sure no overheat / screen issues / whiininine ) before I pay for it?
    3. Do they sell 7200rpm models in store? becoz that's the only upgrade i need atm.
    4. if i order online, can i specifically require for revision D models?
anyway... i just want to get precisly a Revision D model becoz Im spending quite a lot (to me as a student) and don't want to get a DEFECTIVE machine...
    many thanks.

As someone pointed out, don't refer to "rev c or rev d". That was posted on a blog, and it was from a second/thirdhand source, not from an official Apple statement.
A "rev" is a hardware spin. It costs hundreds of thousands, if not MILLIONS of dollars to rev a board. Not to mention, it takes weeks of testing to make sure a hardware fix is good enough to warrant spending the investment to spin a new rev of the board.
If a W8612+ board is any better than a previous one, it's likely Apple identified a bad batch of components and they've simply replaced that batch with better ones.
How else can I explain that both a W8607 and W8610 at my Apple store worked perfectly with no whines or heat problems?
None-the-less, when I visited my Apple store to buy my MBP, I kindly asked the person to find me a box with a W8612 or later serial number. And luckily, it also appears to run great.

  • How to get battery information for macbook air 13"

    Hi,
I am using macbook air 13" released by the end of last year.
For personal reason, I have to buy a new battery for my mba through the internet.
So, how can I check the battery information (such as release day and last day of warranty) using its serial number?
It is not easy to find such service in apple.com in case of macbook air battery.
    Thanks for your reply.
    Jonghun Park.

That page supports for (as it mentioned below)
iPhone, iPad, Mice and Trackpad, iSight, Portable Computers, AirPort, iPod, Displays, Xserve, Desktop Computers, Keyboards, Apple TV
NOT FOR THE BATTERY EMBEDDED IN MACBOOK AIR!! :<
(And the length of serial number of battery is longer than above HW products)
Thanks for your answer, by the way.

  • How to get digital sound from macbook air?

i know the new air does not have digital output in the headphone jack, but is there another way to approach this problem? I heard there are ways to connect an external sound card to make it work (i'm new to this and not sure exactly how it works). I use to have my macbook pro linked to a Dell u2711 and ran toslink from the Pro, but now I'm on an Air, i have to use the analog output from the monitor which is driving me nuts comparing to the digital quality. Hoping there is another solution. thanks!

    Hi fjing28,
You could do MiniDisplay Port to HDMI (with Audio-Out) support.

  • How to get 5.1 sound macbook pro

I have plugged my mac to my 5.1  bose sound system but only the two left and right speakers are working, how can i get 5.1 sound

    Read here:
OUTPUT SURROUND SOUND FROM YOUR MAC: (simplest way)
(*Check first to see if your Mac is capable of outputting surround sound through the Mini Displayport. Most models before early 2009 are not able to output multi-channel audio)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241?viewlocale=en_US
    - Use a Mini Display Port to HDMI cable and connect the HDMI into the Blu-Ray/DVD HDMI input on the receiver and the Mini Display to the Mini Display Port on your Mac.
    - Go to System Preferences on your Mac. Click on the "Sound" icon. Then in the "Output" tab, select SONYAVAMP - HDMI
    - Then go into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. On the left side of the window select HDMI. On the right side it then should say "Source: SONY AVAMP"
    - Click the "Configure Speakers..." button in the bottom right of the window. Click the "Multichannel" tab. Then select "5.1 Surround" from the pull down menu. Click on each speaker to provide a test tone to make sure each is connect properly. Then click on "Apply"
    - Last set is to go into the DVD Player to test it. Go to "Preferences" and click on the "Disc Setup" tab. Under Audio at the bottom of the window select "Digital Out - SONY AVAMP" from the drop down menu for "Audio output" *You now have 5.1 Channel Surround Sound from you Mac!

Where it says 'Sony AVAMP", plugin your speaker system name.

  • How to get virtual window in macbook air

i have purchased macbook sir 6 days back . i am finding it difficult to work on macbook . Mostly i need to use ms office and another designing softwares like adobe photoshop and adobe flash etc .
Please tell me the procedure of creating a virtual window in my macbook.
    TIA

Please explain what you mean by a virtual window? I assume you mean run Windows in a virtual machine?
I think you would be better off using the Mac versions of those software, Office, Photoshop & Flash can all be installed on a Mac.
Running a virtual machine will decrease performance and should be used when an app has no Mac version. The other option is to use bootcamp, which makes a complete Windows install on your Mac in addition to OS X. This basically defeats the purpose of buying a Mac if you only plan to run Windows.
You will need a Mac licence for Office & Photoshop, see if you can 'cross grade' them…
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-languag e-swap.html#main_Request_a_platform_or_language_swap
I can't see the option for Microsoft Office so have  search on MS's site.

  • How to get airplay working on macbook pro 2012

I have a Macbook Pro (Retina display) mid 2012 and am unable to connect to Apple TV using Airplay.
Under 'user preferences' 'displays' there is no option to activate airplay mirroring.
I have ensured all software updates are done.
iTunes is also current and airplay will work connecting via Apple TV to play music on TV speakers.
Both PC and Apple TV are connected to same wireless network, and same apple logon.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks.
I decided that upgrading was the best option, and am now on Mavericks.
    Airplay is working successfully.
Thanks for the quick response.  Most helpful.

  • How to get ANTS out of Macbook Pro

Im traveling through Hawaii, often camping out. Today sitting at this internet cafe, I realize that my computer has been infected with ANTS! Whats the best way to get rid of them?!?!?!

Go to your local supermarket and buy one of those self-enclosed ant traps. Power down your computer, and leave the ant trap within a foot of the computer for a day.
The ants will migrate out of the computer to the trap over time.
If you have dead ants in your computer, you might consider taking the computer to an Apple-authorized service center or retail store and have them cleaned out (it's just a matter of opening up the laptop and blowing them out with compressed air).
