How to get back purchased music when computers are no longer available...

We were hit by lightning, again, and lost my wife's Bondi iMac. Those of you who know them realize that they didn't come with CD burners...so we didn't back up her music purchases. In addition, I recently lost my job. The music I purchased on my work computer was purged while I was getting my pink slip. So, I was unable to back it up as well.
So, we have a handful of songs that we purchased on other computers that are no longer available to us. I emailed Apple a couple weeks ago and have not received any answer on how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.

You have posted on the iTunes for Windows forum
If you have tracks on an iPod then this post which covers macs as well may help:

I am afraid Apple has a download once policy, but you have done the right thing contacting them as I understand they they will occasionally make an exception in special circumstances and allow another download.
Here is a link to an iTunes store contact page, but I expect you have that already:

    Hey CrystalKean,
Thanks for the question. If you have purchased content on your iPhone that has not yet been transferred to your computer, see the following article:

  • My purchases from Apple TV are no longer available on the device.

I'm not sure what I've done but my purchases from Apple TV are no longer available on the device. They can only be found on Itunes under 'library/tv shows' and 'apple tv/tv shows'. How can I transfer the shows back onto my Apple TV and then erase the files from itunes? Once accomplished, how can I prevent my Apple TV purchses from syncing with my itunes (to save space on itunes, I prefer not to sync purchases from apple tv).
Thank you in advance for any advice!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You haven't done anything wrong, this is the way it is supposed to work. You cannot sync the content back to the Apple TV and then erase it from iTunes because the Apple TV mirrors iTunes, and if it is deleted from iTunes it will also then get deleted from the Apple TV.
You might also see this, however I strongly recommend against it.

  • Lost some files, how do I get back purchased music?

Had a system crash few days ago and Itunes recognizes that I have already purchased some tunes. How do I redownload the music I have already purchased? It would seem intuitive that you could just download it again from Itunes if you've already paid for it, but that would just be too easy.

How do I redownload the music I have already purchased?
Restore it from a backup, purchase it again, or click here and ask for a free redownload.

  • Why do all of my previously purchased app say they are no longer available?

Each time I try to download a previously purchased app, a message says it is no longer available.  It even happens with my movies I've purchased.  Is iCloud down or something?

There currently appears to be a problem with the iTunes Store. Try again tomorrow.

  • How to get my purchased music back on new computer

I just traded in my 3 month old, older version iMac intel, for the new one, not sure I got a good deal, but wanted it and it's another story heh..anyway, I backed up my music library on a DVD-R, but how do I get them into my library on the new computer? It's blank there when I hit the iTune icon. All I have is the U2 library, and they're on my iPod, but I'd still like them there. So what should I do?
    Thanks!

  • How to get non-purchased music to apple tv?

I have a lot of songs that I have downloaded to itunes from CD's.  I recently downloaded the app to my iphone to play Apple TV but when I go into ATV only my itunes purchased songs show up.  How do I fix this?

Ok, let me see if I can help clear up some of the mystery behind both iTunes and AirPlay.
Let's start with iTunes. iTunes is comprised of basically three parts: 1) The host application or front-end, 2) The iTunes Library, & 3) The iTunes Media Folder. By default, all three components reside on either a Mac or PC. However, each can be located on a separate hard drive on the same computer, on separate hard drives on different computers/servers, or across different network drives.
You can bring songs into iTunes in a number of ways: 1) iTunes Store, or 2) Via audio files. The former is over the Internet. The latter can be from CDs or other audio files stored on hard drives. No matter what the source is the music files are placed in the iTunes Media Folder and pointers to these files are stored in the iTunes Library. So, in your case, you either used the iTunes front-end to import the CD audio files directly into the iTunes Media Folder or used another means to copy the CD's audio files to an external hard drive ... and then, imported them into iTunes. Regardless of which technique you used, iTunes would need access to both the Library and the Media Folder in order to play any of these files. Again, typically, you would do this using the iTunes app on either a Mac or PC.
The remote app, on the other hand, just allows you to use iOS device to control iTunes running on a computer.
For streaming we need to add AirPlay to the equation. AirPlay is a streaming protocol that runs on top of TCP/IP. AirPlay requires three things: 1) An iTunes server, 2) a wired or wireless network connection, & 3) an AirPlay "speaker." In this case the server is the iTunes application and the speaker is your Apple TV.
You can stream iTunes audio from a computer or an iOS device. However, each does it differently, specifically where the source audio comes from. For a computer, that will be the iTunes Media Folder. For an iOS device, that would be either audio files on the device or from iCloud. So if you don't have an iCloud account, you won't be able to use iTunes Match for streaming. Note: However, you could use other Internet sources, like Pandora, instead.
When using the Remote app, the source is the same as the computer. That is, your computer must be on with iTunes running to stream to the Apple TV that is being controlled by the Remote app on an iOS device.
Does any of this make sense?

  • Computer Crashed... Is there a way to get back purchased music?

    Hi,
does anyone know if it is possible to get music that was purchased thought the itunes store back without having to pay for it again. My hard drive got destroyed. Thank you for your time and thoughts!

Use the form on this page to request a free redownload, or use the Transfer Purchases feature if applicable. If neither of these works, you will need to purchase the songs and other content again to get them back; Apple needs to pay the copyright holders for each download from the iTunes Store other than podcasts and album artwork.

Can anyone help me figure out how to sync my ipod with my purchased music?  I have used several computer and at one point synced my ipod with a computer that only had about half of my music.  My other computers are no longer working.  Not sure how to get my purchased music back onto my ipod?

    Hi kimcinma!
Your previous purchases are saved on iCloud even if you bought them on another computer. If you can't find them on your current computer, you might need to unhide them. Go to iTunes preferences, and click on Store Preferences. Then click the box for "show iTunes in the Cloud purchases". Then click on OK, and everything you've ever bought from iTunes on that Apple ID will show up in your library. You will need to download them from iCloud first before you can synch them to your iPod Classic. To do this, click on the little cloud with the arrow in it next to your song, and it will download to your computer. When you have the music that you want downloaded, plug in your iPod and synch away. Hope this helps!

  • My purchased songs from iTunes songs no longer available in us store

    Hi,
I am trying to re-download purchased tunes from the iTunes Store. I get a warning that some songs are no longer available in the US Store!
How do I get my music back? Is it tough luck if I did not back up those files/

Unfortunately if the iTunes store does not sell the music anymore, you would not be able to re-download what is already purchased. I hope this answered your question.

  • HOw do I get my purchased music back after having to restore my Ipod touch

I had to restore my Ipod touch because of a corrupted file. How do I get my purchased music back?

The answer is that the iCloud advertising in Danish speaks of restoring apps, books and music and shows this, and in small print / gray print adds that in some countries this is not available. The Danish copy does not say that in Denmark the service is unavailable (suppose the English copy in US spelling showed the service, but did not say that the service was unavailable in the US).
    http://www.apple.com/dk/icloud/features/apps-books-backup.html
After another couple of hours of hunting around, a Knowledge Base article in Danish turns up which begins by saying that purchases from the App Store, the iBookstore and the iTunes Store are restorable, but in small print / gray print advises which countries the service in fact covers. Denmark is not covered.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4539?viewlocale=da_DK
Naturally, the Danish copy should in both the advertising and in the additional information start by clarifying that music is not restorable for Danish customers. Instead, the Danish copy extolls a service that does not cover the iTunes Store in Denmark. The term for this in Danish is 'vildledende markedsføring' which is to say that the marketing is misleading.
