How to get basic cable channels on Touchsmart 310-1037?

I am able to get the local network channels but not any of my cable channels. I know some have stated a cable box is required but I am confused as to why???  In my particular case, my cable company (Cox Communications) does not require a cable box for the first 99 channels on any of my other tvs so I didn't think one would be necessary for my computer tuner.
I have a small computer station and making space for a cable box is not an option.
Just want to make sure there are no other options before I abandon the idea all together.
Thanks.
Cindy

90% of the Comcast boxes out there work just fine with the base Motorola code, this includes the tiny DTA boxes. Just tell it you don't have the remote and to let you pick a code.
I do know that Windows Media Center does not like learning the Comcast remote control codes, but that shouldn't stop you from using the Motorola code (I think it's 0714)
As always, you do need the ir blasters hooked up properly and pointed at the cable box, my preferred method is toss the small cable box in a drawer with the blaster pointing to it. There are also what can best be described as "ir to ir" extension cables that take ir out of the equation with some fancy footwork, they're found on ebay.

The remote refused to work with the Comcast converter, so yes, you do need to use just the Comcast remote to change the channels.  There may be other boxes the TS remote works with, but for me, it just refused to find the right code.

  • Digivox USB all basic cable channels locked

    I just bought a Digivox USB dongle and plugged it into my laptop. When I went through the channel scan, all of the basic cable channels I get when I plug that same cable into my cheap TV show up as "locked". When I look at the properties of the few channels it displays, only 3 or 4 of which correspond to the channel on my cable, they all say ATSC. This product claims to have a QAM tuner just like my cheap TV. So could someone please explain to me how to watch the same channels I get on that same cheap TV which has no set top box or anything?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for responding, xmad. That is the piece of equipment. After one hour and 4 techs, Time Warner says there is nothing to "authorize" (the device does not have that capability). I finally understand the issue. I assumed that since it had a QAM tuner, it would pick up the channels on my TV which also had a QAM tuner. When I did not understand was that my TV also had an NTSC tuner which decodes the analog signals on my cable when it is plugged directly into the TV. Mostly my mistake. However, if anyone from MSI actually wanders through these forums and cares, it seems to me that simply including some information in your marketing, such as "this product won't display basic cable channels like your TV", it would keep people like me from having to return it and share my bad experience (even though I know you might want to try to blame me for not being a technical expert). Since no one here in this forum or at TWC immediately described the reason, I think it's safe to say I am not the only person slightly confused by all the technical crap. End of my two cents and maybe this will help someone else not make the same mistake.

    Hi,
    Is your formula attached to basic salary element or some other element? You need to make sure that basic salary element has some value and is processed before this formula is called. Are you able to see value for basic salary element after payroll run?

  • How to get the edit channel link from within the channel?

    Following problem:
    I want to include a link to edit the settings of a channel in the channel contents. The link should be the same as the edit button on the frame of the channel container. Searching through the provider jsps I found that the edit link is created in single.jsp. The code I need seems to boil down to
    <dt:obtainContainer container="$JSPProvider">
      <dtsingle:singleContainerProvider>
      <dtpc:getStringProperty key="editContainerName" id="editContainerName" scope="request"/>

    TARGET="_self"> EDIT! </A>
        </dtsingle:obtainSelectedChannel>
      </dtsingle:singleContainerProvider>
    </dt:obtainContainer>However I am unable to get that working in the channel, as I always receive a ProviderException on the line with
    <dt:obtainContainer container="$JSPProvider">
    What am I doing wrong, or is does the obtainContainer simply not work from within a channel?
    If anyone can help me out to get the edit link it would be greatly appreciated. Any hints and/or sample code would help alot.

  • How to get discrete AC3 channels with sblive

    When playing DVD movies or DIVX video with AC3 sound I get all the channels mixed in stereo. When choosind four speaker configuration there is no sound from surround channels and in my rear speakers I hear the same channels than in my front speakers. I can get discerete AC3 channel playback even with my Realtek onboard sound, I cannot believe I could not do the same with the much more powerfull SBli've 5..

    Cdbular,
    How are your speakers connected to your SBLi've!? If you are connected using a digital coax connecter then you will need to set up your system to do SPDIF bypass. Here is an article that explains what you will get from this kind of connection:

  • How to get available physical channels by DAQmx in VIs?

    I can get available DAQ devices by calling DAQmx System property. What should I do if I want to get all available physical channels in my VI?
    My NI DAQ version is 7.3, and my LabVIEW version is LabVIEW Professional 7.1.
    Thanks!

    There really isn't a great way to do this. I've attached a zip file with a couple of VIs that might give you a an idea or two about how you might want to go about it. Hope one of these helps!

  • How to get rid of Channel.Security.Error when developing locally?

    okay here's the rundown, I'm trying to use an HTTPService
    that's on https://mydomain.com, when I hit the run button in flex
    builder I get a Channel.Security.Error because
    file:///User/.../main.html is not the same domain as mydomain.com,
    so in order to run it I'm hitting the run button, then sftping the
    swf to mydomain.com/~myname/ and then I don't get the error. The
    big issue with this is I can't figure out how to attach the
    debugger when I do this.
    So the question is, is there a way I can either disable the
    url security settings when the flash file is being run from file://
    or do something to make it so I can debug just by hitting the
    button instead of having to jump through all these copying
    hoops?

    so I need to put a file on the root of the domain with the
    service on it?:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "
    http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
    <allow-access-from domain="localhost" />
    </cross-domain-policy>
    If I can't get it on the root of the server, is there another
    way without running a webserver on my local box?

  • How to get longer cable connecting SCXI-1000 to DAQ-6036E?

    Hello,
    Our chassis SCXI-1000 is about 5 to 7 meter away from the DAQ6036E host computer. But the maximum length of the cable seems to be 2 meter from NI. So are there any solution for my quesition? Can we make one or does NI have the middle-link to connect 2 or more cable together?
    thanks
    feilong

    An SCXI chassis can be cabled up to 10m away from the host PC using a shielded 68 pin cable:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/B30DF2FE6B6C2E2786256A62005BADE2?OpenDocument
    NI does sell a 10m cable - see this webpage:
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/11799
    The part number for the cable appears to be 184749-10.

    Hi,
    Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, NVidia or Intel.
    Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click once ( just to highlight the entry ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter and then click the Set Default button - see if you now have audio.

  • How does DIADEM import TDMS files? How gets every channel his number and groupindex? How can I determine which channel has which groupindex and number?

    I store different channels in a TDMS file.
    I like to have a time channel at the first position with group index 1 and number 1.
    When I read the TDMS file with DIADEM the time channel (Float64) is on a differernt position, and the channels are not sorted alphabetically.
    Here are my questions:
    How does DIADEM import TDMS files?
    How gets every channel his number and groupindex?
    How can I determine which channel has which groupindex and number?
    Best regards
    Joerg

    Hi Jörg,
    i suppose that you´re programme whose create the *.tdms file is writing on false position. Try to create datas with timechannel on first indes in diadem, then save it and then open it again. you see that all is correct. So please tell me what programm in what version do you use and please attache it here.
    Did you use the library for creating *.tdms files like in the link ?
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6471
    Here you find the gtdms_8.x.zip - when you extract it and opened the *.llb you find vi´s for all functions e.g. writing 2d array of strings to *.tdms file
    when you open the subvi´s then you see how created and writing datas/structure to *.tdms files. Because *.tdms is binary you can´t see structure with open it in editor.
    When you don´t have Labview you can use the 30 days test of current version 8.5 under following link

  • How can I use the NI PXI-6508 with Lab View 7? what are the first steps to get started??How can I use the channels with lab view 7????

    I have a 8 slot PXI system with 2 NI PXI 6508 and 1 DMM 4070 in it. I want to get started with programming the digital I/O cards (6508)! How can I use this cards with LabView 7?what is the best way to get started, or where can I get examples showing how to use the several channels?
    Thanks!
    Philipp

    Philipp,
    The best way to get started is to decide if you want to use traditional NI-DAQ or NI-DAQmx. Recently we released NI-DAQ 7.1 which provides NI-DAQmx support for the PXI-6508. In my opinion, NI-DAQmx is more efficient and much easier to use.
    To get started with examples, simply launch LabVIEW and go to Help>>Find Examples. Then expand Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx and select the appropriate digital group for your application. This should help get you started.
    Please repost if you need addition assistance. Good luck with your application!
