How to get bass redirection/Vista Ultimate x64/Audigy 2

This is how I got 2. sound working again (no CMSS "double"-stereo so far, which would be 4., but at least it sounds right now) on Vista x64 and an Audigy 2 ZS.
First of all, get rid of anything creative driver related (in my case, the January Beta), reboot. It should not know both the Gameport and the Soundcard. Then, run the installer with the "No driver for the Gameport found" window open. Install the Audio Console, don't reboot yet, open the Gameport window, say "look for a driver online etc." which should result in some "This inf is for Win98 and up" error. Ok, reboot. The Gameport will not work, no matter what you do ...
Go to the Audioconsole, select 5., insert your original Audigy 2ZS driver CD. Open "Audio\SpkSet", right-click the "setup.exe" and select run in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2. Then, right-click and "Run as administrator". Should take looong (a few minutes), but it installs the Speaker Settings. You can run them from Start Menu->Creative->Speaker Settings, enable bass redirection, done. Didn't work with the beta drivers here because the speaker setting installer complained about no matching hardware found.
Note, the drivers are still WDM based (i.e., actually XP x64 drivers) and not UAA based, so the XP software finds the same hooks. Curious when a /real/ Vista driver will appear (i.e., not WDM based). See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Driver_Model & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uni'versal_Audio_Architecture
Sound quality is a bit lower than on XP (it sounds as if the amplifier has some problems, when I have some bass the rest becomes quieter, which didn't happen on XP, and I have the feeling there is some high-frequency noise floating around ... couldn't equalize it yet), but I have no hickups or scratches.Message Edited by Audigy2ZSUser on 03-0-20070:5 AM

And exactly why don't you simplay use the audio console 2.40.09 which works perfectly with bass redir on vista32 and 64?

  • Vista ultimate x64 any chance to get decoding of dts and dolby digital for audigy 2 zs platinum

    hello,
i need the support of deconding dts or dolby digital for my audigy 2 zs platinum pro.
is there any chance to get this feature back in vista ultimate x64?
i hope anybody can help me.
    thanks for all
    steffen

According to Creative, Vista no longer supports the decoding of Dolby and DTS at the driver level, so no, that feature proabably won't added back in the future. It is gone for all the Creative cards.

  • Distribution of JRE on Windows Vista Ultimate x64

The automatic update of the JRE on my Windows Vista Ultimate x64 system often comes up saying a new update is available but then as soon as I go ahead to install it, the update tells me that the particular version of the JRE is already installed.
How can this automatic update bug for new JRE installations be fixed.

iTunes cannot work if Quicktime doesn't, so that has to be fixed first.
Have you ever installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter
If so the must be uninstalled.
    Then or if you don't have them then continue with this;
Download the version of QUicktime that does not include iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Remove Quicktime using the method for QUicktime in this article:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
When you get to the system32 folder, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
Restart your PC and then install the Quicktime you just downloaded.
Check to see if it works and if it does try iTunes.

  • Boot Camp, Vista Ultimate x64 SP1, 2009 Mac Pro Quad 2.93, ATI 4870 HD

    Hello All,
I’ve run into a problem installing Boot Camp with Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 on my early 2009 Mac Pro Quad 2.93 with Apple’s ATI Radeon 4870 HD (the one with one DVI and one mini-display). I followed the instructions from the Boot Camp Installation and Setup Guide, and everything was going great until I hit page 12 of the Guide (Step 3). The Boot Camp drivers installed without error, and prompted me to reboot. Upon rebooting onto the newly installed Vista x64 partition, the screen went black after the chkdsk screen appeared. I can boot into Vista safe mode, but booting into Vista normally results in the black screen. On a hunch, while in safe mode, I uninstalled the ATI video drivers installed by Boot Camp. I was then able to boot Vista normally, but only with the standard VGA adapter. Then I tried installing the latest 9.4 ATI drivers from the chipset vendor, AMD, http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx. Booting normally after the ATI chipset drivers were installed left me with a mostly black screen, and a few swizzles of horizontal color, but not enough to make out any sort of image. Once again, I was able to boot normally by first booting into safe mode and then uninstalling the ATI driver, leaving me with the standard VGA driver.
The displays I have tried so far are 1) Apple Cinema HD 23”, and 2) Apple Cinema 20”. Also, I have tried all 6 permutations with the ports on the Apple version of the ATI Radeon 4870 HD with both displays (using the mini-display to DVI adapter), 2 permutations with both displays, and 4 permutations with single displays. All permutations result in the same black screen after installing Boot Camp drivers.
Am I missing something? It seems to me that there is a display driver that needs to come from Apple that will work with the Apple version of the ATI Radeon 4870 HD in Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 attached to an Apple display. I’ve installed Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 and many other operating systems in the past 27 years of working with computers, and typically with video cards I’ve had to get the drivers from the vendor that shipped the card, not the chipset vendor. Sure, occasionally the opposite is true, and I don’t mind spending a few days to figure out what works best for me as long as I believe I am making progress.
Has anyone else run into this problem with his or her early 2009 Mac Pro Quad 2.93 with Apple’s ATI Radeon 4870 HD? I’m posting this in the Boot Camp forum as I think this problem is rooted in the Boot Camp drivers, specifically for the Apple ATI Radeon 4870 HD. Please let me know if I should post elsewhere.

You are the second person I think I've seen with trouble using Mac Pro and ATI drivers (other was on Mac Pro forum).
When updating graphics, there are extra steps that insure you get the best working drivers.
I've always found Apple to be behind the curve on Windows support. Drivers that come with a card from the vendor ususally means ATI or Nvidia, and even then, you go to the web and download and install the latest tested / beta / qualified drivers. Some people try a variety of driver versions to find the one that works best.
Apple has not been updating Boot Camp drivers for Late 2008 and on Macs. Boot Camp 2.1 is now over a year old. What is on your OEM Leopard DVD is the only drivers I would use - if at all! try without is what some do, and then see if you can selectively install. Under Windows 7, I don't need or install, and now with the RC/7077 version of 7, Microsoft 'blocks' installing Apple Boot Camp drivers as known to cause problems.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unistall the various Apple services, drivers, startup items that you can live without or until you narrow it down. iTunes 8.1+ in Windows can break and prevent ability to even use optical drives and devices for instance.
Some tips for upgrading drivers, one from eVGA forum but should translate.

The Radeon 9000 driver works for the Radeon 7500 card.  I have successfully used it on a T43 with Vista Ultimate x86

Unfortunately no.  The Radeon 9000 driver should bring your graphics score up to close to 2, but it will not get it high enough to enable Aero support.

Uninstall the software cleanly via the "Add or Remove programs" panel, then run another install. The breakdown is in the licensing system, not the application itself. Do not run the clean scripts until you have attempted this. If it still fails, then indeed a call to Adobe tech might do wonders...

    Hi
I have a Qosmio F50-10K and I installed Vista ultimate x64 and the Tempro appliaction is not working. After I install it, I left the Start Tempro button checked and when I press finish it gives me this error:
    "internal error 2753
    Toshiba.ui.controlpanelapplication.exe"
Same thing happens when I uncheck the box with start tempro.
For both situations nothing is left in the system, no files, no regstry, nothing.
    Please HELP
    Thank you

    Hi!
I searched on the Toshiba download driver page and I found out, that Tempro is only available for Vista 32bit, not for 64bit.
So I think Tempro will not work on a 64bit OS.
    Bye!

  • ThinkVantage GPS instantly crashes in Vista Ultimate x64

My W500 laptop came with XP preloaded and the GPS application started up fine. Now I installed Vista Ultimate x64, as well as all drivers I could find on the official website, and GPS does not work anymore. As soon as I start it, there is an immediate crash. Device manager does not show a single unknown device plugged in. I have the Ericcson F3507g module and the laptop came with a SIM card for it, which is installed. Can anyone shed some light on this situation?

The GPS app is just past the middle on the drivers page, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70443
I am a little weary of using Windows 7 because it's RC still. Though with all those positive reviews floating around, I may jump on board soon.

Is it Office 365, you can try below:
     configure these settings:
Go to Admin > SharePoint > Settings
In the Global Experience Version Settings section, choose one of the following options:
Allow creation of old version site collections, but prevent creation of new version site collections. Prevent opt-in upgrade to the new version site collections to only allow users to create site collections using the SharePoint Online
2010 templates and to prevent them from upgrading these site collections to SharePoint 2013.

  • Vista Ultimate x64

I have an HP laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate x64. iTunes installs on my PC, but everytime I open it up, this message pops up:
"iTunes has not been properly installed. If you want to burn music to CDs or DVDs, you must reinstall iTunes."
    Any thoughts as to why?
    Thanks.

The 64 bit Gear drivers you need for burning are not supplied with iTunes. Downloading the 64 bit driver from the Gear site usually fixes this:

  • Audigy WORKING with 5.1 AND software(EAX, THX console, bass redirection) Vista 32

This has taken me a week of fiddling, but now on Vista Ultimate 32bit I have most things up and running...
EAX effects and environments from the control panel work, THX console works, surround mixer, speaker settings work..Also I'm getting proper surround output =]
This isn't a complete fix; EAX console and the EQ don't work, and also it only lets me set 6bit@96khz in the control panel, 24bit isn't there =[
    I'm using an Audigy 4...
First, I installed creative official vista drivers. Then uninstalled the drivers but left audio console installed.
    Install Pax-Apps 2.32sp2 http://www.youp-pax.org/viewthread.php?tid=443&extra=page%3D
Reboot...now my audigy was not working here but all the creative apps were installed. THe youp-pax drivers caused a BSOD after the reboot but after another reboot it went into windows just without the sound working.
Run the Pax installer again, select remove drivers and remove them but leave the software, reboot.
Install the official Creative windows XP drivers. This is the hard step, I had some problems and had to reboot and uninstall-reinstall about 0 times before I finally got it working...but now it works.
Still, I want my 24bit and my EAX console =[

I have this (well kinda) problem also. Sometimes my system (see below) will work fine, but then suddenly the channels will swap or the sub just won't give any bass.
Have tried contacting both Creative and Microsoft support for some insight but nothing apart from the standard stuff so far. I guess its a vista/4Gb RAM issue. Looking forward to using WaveRt drivers in case they give a difference.

  • How to get bass ba

Since i used XP untill today, i've used Creative Volume Panel to fix settings with the sound, but now im on vista and i have no idea of how i can get bass sound in my speakers. Before i used the THX console and the +5dB bass setting. So i wounder if there is a way to install Volume Panel on Vista or how i fix the sound settings with the Creative Audio Console. Help please, cause only discant sound suxz ;P?(Excuse my English, it sucks i know, no need to tell, cause i always hear it from people on this forum.)

at the moment the vista drivers dont have compatable software like your THX console, its been well documented by us unhapppy customers of creative, the only way to get more bass would be thru media player and turn on the the SRS wow effect,?before you do any of this. I must warn you that without the THX console working, the subwoofer that you have is recieving any and all frequencies which is damaging to the speakers as well, subwoofers shouldnt play and sounds/voices below 30hz depending on how good ur sub is, the tweeters should play sub 30hz either, so please dont have too much volume until this software is released for your soundcard, It wont blow them up instantly, but slowly degenerates them after time. im no bs talker I know my hi fi

  • Ghost taskbar in Vista Ultimate x64 after undocking T61p with external displays

I use my T61p with the advanced docking station and two external monitors (DVI + VGA).
Frequently when I undock, my taskbar becomes a ghost, in that I only can see a small line that comes up (I have it in autohide) yet totally transparent. No content. I can get it to come back by "killing"  the explorer task, and restarting that manually. Yet this erases the power manager part of the lenovo tools in the taskbar.
Anyone any idea why this would be happening?
I do press the undock button, and wait for the "undock complete" message before I physically take it out of the dock.
I have tried to find a reproducable sequence, but have not found any. It does not do it all the time. Just occasionally.
I guess it must be some driver issue, but was wondering if anyone has seen the same.

could this problem be related to the graphics BSOD and Computer Shutoffs we are see-ing in T61p's?
have you tried running any games like Bioshock, Crisis or Call of Duty 4 ?   The demo versions would be enough to tell if its the same thing.
also are both RAM slots used for your memory ?

  • Vista Ultimate x64 Loading up slowly

On my new Unibody 2.4Ghz MBP, I had 32bit Windows Vista installed for awhile. Everything was flawless and it loaded pretty quickly.
Recently I upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64bit. Bootcamp installed all the drivers and OS is working without any issues.
When it loads, right after the initial white screen, it goes to blank screen with cursor blinking at left top. It flashes for about 2 seconds then I can see it clears, but the same screen comes back but this time it stays on for about 2 mins. This seems very odd, because soon as I get the Vista progress bar, it loads OS fast in about 10 seconds.
I defragged the drive, checked for errors. I did go thrugh regular "Make Vista Boot Faster" tricks, but they seemed to make it load faster right after I get the progress bar, but did not cure the cursor issue.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    1) You could get Mark R.'s Sysinternals Autoruns:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
and see more of what is going on at startup.
    2) in Run->msconfig, I disable all but bootcamp.
    3) delete all *.PF files from \Windows\Prefetch. They will come back but I've found this speeded start-up.
    4) You may have "Services" running that are not needed: right click My Computer icon, selecting Manage; but need to be careful disabling those critical to startup. I disable things unused: Bluetooth & Media Center etc.
    5) Let Merlin check out your PC. Copy/paste following script into new text document

Is anyone else experiencing BSOD crashes while running a Video Call on Skype on a T61p running under 64bit Vista?
I have a 15.4" T61p, with the 570M Nvidia card, Intel Turbo Memory, and 4GB ram... the only time my machine experiences a BSOD crash is when in a video call in Skype.  I have tried this with two different video camera (a MS lifecam and a Logitech Quickcam) with all the latest drivers.  I have a suspicion it is some interaction between the audio drivers and Skype that may be causing the crashes... but can't be certain.  Sometimes it crashes after a couple of minutes, sometimes an hour into the call.
