How to get Desktop Software to update Automatically
Hello Blackberry Community,
I have someone trying to update there Blackberry Bold through the Desktop Manager.
When he connects the device it updates nicely.
However, after the update and he makes changes to his calendar, or dismisses a appointment on Outlook 2003 the Blackberry Bold is not updated.
For him to update the Blackberry again, he needs to manually synchronize the device.
On the Main Menu for the BB Desktop Manager, in Synchronize, the "Synchronize automatically" is ticked.

From home, download the file again. it sounds like the download wasn't complete or the tranfer of the file to the thumb drive had a problem.
Another option is to download the file again from home then upload it to box or dropbox.
Now you can access these links from work.

If the iTunes purchases are not in your iTunes library you can redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you restore from backup, not that synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup and thus if those items are not in the iTunes library they can't be restored to the iPod during the latter part of the restore process. -

my blackberry desktop software cannot update and load an os to the phone. i have error 507 which means there is no os on my phone as i read somewhere. but the problem is.... i have tried all the intruction on the solution on error507 but to no avail. the device software alwas says " "There is no BlackBerry® Software available." with Cancel, Update and Retry option. Please check carefully these instructions, most importantly the part about deleting VENDOR.XML file(s).
1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

How to connect Desktop Software with BES ?
Hi,
I have installed latest BB Desktop Software on a system other than BES (4.1.6). Also installed BB simulator 4.2.2 (8830) on same system. I connected the Simulator to Desktop software successfully using USB, but can't connect it with BES server (installed on separate system) .
Please tell me how to connect Desktop software with BES ?

You can try reducing the bit depth of the screen image via the slider in the upper-right of the Control window. If that doesn't help, you may just not have a sufficiently fast network connection to correctly handle the data transfer necessary. This is often the case if you're connecting across the Internet. What is your network speed between the administration system and the client?

Here's what I am asking:
1. I need something that is animated that blinks or flashes to alert the viewer to scroll down the page. I would put the wording: Scroll Down for more (and then an arrow blinks or gently moves up and down to alert the user to move down).

How do I get Adobe Acrobat to update automatically?
When I open a pdf I get a message that says, "Adobe Acrobat Updater has not been able to update in a while". Then it gives me the option to click a link to search for a problem online. I end up with a million update options but have no idea which one to click on. How do I get it to update automatically?
Duplex is a property of the printer and by itself Acrobat cannot globally set the attribute.
You might create (install) a second instance of the printer and name it accordingly - "Duplex Printer" -
Can't get Desktop software to show on PC :(
Hi - I've just "upgraded" my previous BB from the older wide style to the 7130v and am now trying to setup the Desktop software so I can transfer some ringtones to it. I downloaded the file from the phone supplier's site (Vodafone) and it seemed to run okay but all it did ultimately was to setup the software on the phone itself - I never got any icon or folder on my PC to run the desktop component. There were a load of other files that were of various versions, but no info on which one I should be downloading, so I'm presuming I need one of them but no idea which. Go to Solution.That's my problem - it's not showing up in the Programs nor in the folder I installed it from, which is why I'm stumped as to how to get it show itself! Really frustrating. Even in the D&S/Application Data folder it only has a couple of entries for Loader history but no actual Loader in there either It never actually asked me where I wanted to install the program anyway, if memory serves me right, just went ahead and started connecting to the phone and updating the software, which is why I'm assuming it's the wrong program perhaps?

How to Install Desktop Software 6 Silently
In previous versions of Blackberry Desktop Manger, there was a file in the installation directory called 'install.txt.' In this file were parameters for the [INSTALL_OPTIONS] tag, which you could copy/paste into the setup.ini file in the install directory to customize your installation.
Desktop Software 6 does not have the 'install.ext' file, but it does have the setup.ini file. I tried adding my old [INSTALL_OPTIONS] tags to the new setup.ini file but they don't work. I ran the setup.exe file with the /? tag to see if I could get any insight on how to install silently. All this gives me is the following:
Command line parameters:
/L language ID
/S Hide initialization dialog. For silent mode use: /S /v /qn.
/V parameters to MsiExec.exe
/UA<url to InstMsiA.exe>
/UW<url to InstMsiW.exe>
/UM<url to msi package>
/US<url to lsScript.msi>
Do any of these command line parameters actually work? Nope.
I am trying to perform silent installations of Desktop Manager, which is something I had no problem doing with previous versions, but now I can no longer perform silent installations. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.Ended up solving my own problem.
For those of you that want a completely silent unattended installation of desktop manager, just run the Blackberry Desktop Software.msi file with a /qn tag. Simple enough. -
Can't get Desktop Software configured properly to work with Outlook 2007 and Blackberry 8703E
I have a Blackberry 8703E and I have Outlook 2007 on my laptop. I keep trying to install the Desktop software but don't know what option to choose, how to configure it to recognize Outlook, etc. My goal is to be able to sync my contacts, appointments, tasks, etc. between the laptop and my Blackberry. I have no clue what I am doing or how to install and configure the software to work.
Also, I am going to uninstall the Desktop software and want to know what the link is to download the most current version that will work with my phone and my laptop (running Vista). I do not subscribe to the Blackberry service but only want to sync between my computer and the phone.
PLEASE HELP! I am not knowledgeable in this stuff and any detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated!

Wade RearicDon't know if you got your answer by now, but thought I'd try to help.
First, let me preface by saying I use Vista, not XP, but my Outlook is 2007.
Next, you need to be careful as to which versions of the software you use both (a) on your Blackberry desktop and (b) on your Blackberry itself. For example, I use the 8703e via Verizon, but so far the phone's software only goes up to 4.2, which is two iterations short of Blackberry's latest smartphone software. Why do they do this? Because they typically introduce the new software via a new phone via an "exclusive" with a certain carrier, leaving all other users to either salivate or switch to the "exclusive" carrier. Over time (6 months to a year) the "new" software may get rolled out to patient users with (by then) "older" phones, but they clearly want to incentivize consumers to just upgrade to new phones via special carriers.
As for the Desktop software, it is easy to get tripped up here, as Blackberry's download site in not very intuitive for this. Your problem could be that you downloaded and installed a Blackberry Desktop Software that is too advanced a version for your phone. (To add further confusion, the desktop software tends to have version numbers similar to the the phone software, such as "4.2.")
Bottom line: call your help number of your carrier to get the correct info for both sets of software for your phone.
Once all the right software/drivers are installed, the Desktop interface si fairly user-friendly. From a few choices you can backup your Blackberry data; synchronize it (if you are not already doing that wirelessly), etc.

How to get desktop files to stay on the desktop
Please help. Desktop files keep disappearing from the desktop. So far, the only way that I can return them to the desktop is by a Restart. I can find the items in a folder labeled "Desktop" in User/(Name), but I can't find how to get them to return to the desktop proper, in a way that they stay there. How to get my custom controller updated with the global custom controller?

I'm new to CRM Web UI and need some advice from the expert. Currently I'm working on component ICCMP_BT_DATES and noticed something weird with this component. When this component is first launch it display the dates of a service ticket correctly. However when I navigate to another screen, save a new ticket and back, the dates are not reflected. When I went in and debug the component, I noticed that the context is still tied to the previous ticket. I think the custom controller is not updated with the latest from the global custom controller.
My question is how do I get my custom controller updated with the latest.

RickyYou have to bind your custom controllers context node to the event NEW_FOCUS of the collection wrapper on the global custom controller.
Best place to do this might be the CONNECT_NODES of the context of your custom controller.
Get the global CuCo with GET_CUSTOM_CONTROLLER() and then the appropriate context node. Now:
SET HANDLER yourMethod for lr_global_cuco->typed_context->thecontextnode->collection_wrapper activation iv_activate.
Of course you have to implement a method similar to ON_NEW_FOCUS as it is on many other nodes.

How to get bulk action to update resource
I have to update some users data in a particular resource. I'm attempting to add a location to their user object, the resource and their waveset info via a bulk action script (which I have very little experience with). Currently I have it set up so the bulk action starts in a form which calls a rule and then a workflow. I've been able to get it to update the user object and the waveset data, but I can't get it to write to the resource. (In this case the resource is a simulated resource - a file on the file system). I've tried everything I can think of but I'm missing some key piece in getting the resource updated. I may not need the rule, but I couldn't get the resource to update from my workflow, so I decided to try a rule. In any case, here's my form:

. . . Any ideas? Pointers? Suggestions? I can't find any information on how to write to the resource. What is it that triggers that to happen? What do I need to add to my rule, task definition or form to get that to update? Any ideas are much appreciated!

hi i have a solaris system hostname sun router (IP) 10.xx.xx.1 IP 10.xx.xx.20 network id 10.xx.xx.0 mask 255.255.255.0 where problem is i can't ping from solaris machine(sun) to any PC across the subnet ( with IP as well as name). resolution --> /etc
