I bought elements last year sometime for my ibook, but just recently upgraded to an imac. I would like to get elements on my new computer but can't figure how to.
I also can't seem to find my serial number anywhere.
any suggestions?

You will need to reinstall it. Do not attempt to bring it over with migration assistant, since PSE is far more complex than a normal neat mac app package and the MA isn't programmed to find alll the bits and bobs. If you bought PSE as a download, go to the main page of adobe.com and look for My Adobe and work your way through the links there and hopefully you'll still have a download link. If you registered it you will also find your serial number there, regardless of whether you bought a disc or a download.

I've had lots of trouble merging my data from a G4 iMac to a new iMac. Now my problem is mail.
After the first Migration all was OK with mail. Then, because of other problems, I had to erase the entire new iMac. In doing so I lost about 10 days of mail. Now I have some new mail in the new Mac and lots of old mail in the old Mac and I can not get them together.
The new Mac has two POP folders in the Mail folder in the users Library. One has messages from 12/09 to 3/24/10. This one is named after an account I had 3+ years ago. The second POP folder has messages from only 3/29/10. It is named with the present account. Neither has the current messages that are in the inbox of Mail now. The current messages are from 3/29/10 until today but I can not find them in a folder, only by opening the mail program.
The mail prefs have been altered also. I had a major problem with a pref causing trouble ejecting disks and forbiding the Mac to start. All prefs were trashed. (I think I can find them, I kept them in folders rather than trashing them. However, there are several of these folders as I had to trash and restart several times.)
How can I get all my mail back together into one current mailbox?

Thanks for this info. I wish I had know this before I migrated. And I wish the Mac sales person had know. And I wish the folks at Mac support had known. Or perhaps with so many experienced folks not knowing could it be controversial?
Be that as it may, the migration was done (several times) the new computer was non-functional but now seems to be OK. All I want now is to get my old email (from the old Mac) together with the new email (The stuff I've collected since being on the new Mac). That didn't work with the migration and getting all this straightened out has taken long enough that there is a collection of new email.

Was your old computer a Mac? If not, I believe Microsoft Word for Mac is a separate product than Microsoft Word for Windows, requiring a separate purchase.
If your old computer was a Mac, then you can use Migration Assistant (in your Applications > Utilities folder) to move it.

If you registered you photoshop 2.0 then you may go to adobe.com website and log in using your email address and password and look at your registered products. If not then you may need to contact HP if it came in bundle with your computer. However even you will have access to that serial number if you you're intending to install photoshop 2.0 on a fresh windows 7 OS I don't think you will be successful since it is not compatible. I would recommend you purchase the full version of photoshop CS5 since version 2.0 is not applicable for upgrade anymore.

There are a few things you could do, from networking the two computers, using an external hard drive or even using your iPod to make the move. Have a look at this User Tip: Migrating iTunes for Windows to a new PC
If you can network the computers there is also this one: Copying songs over a network to use with iTunes for Windows
To use your iPod on two computers without accidentally erasing it, change it to manual update on your old computer before connecting it to the new one. Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have loaded iTunes on your new computer and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync:

Another way to load iTunes on your new PC is to copy the songs directly from the iPod. There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

Ok. My problem currently is that I want to bring music from my old computer to my new one but my old computer is literally destroyed. My notebook had a fatal error and won't work period I've tried everything. So I never got the opportunity to adjust my ipod accordingly. A few of my songs are not payed for and I'd really like them still. So if anyone has any suggestions or ways to get my 1000+ songs back please let me know. There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
One more thing, if your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes on another computer. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

There are two possibilities:
1) after putting music on your mini you've been erasing it from your computer
2) the music on your mini is still on the computer
If you erase music after putting it on your iPod, you'll need to download a program that copies songs from the iPod and puts it on the computer. Go to your favorite download site and search on the word iPod. You'll find several choices. Once you've downloaded and used the program go on to the next paragraph.
So your music is on the computer, it is cataloged by iTunes, and arranged in playlists. Great! If your music collection is small enough to fit on the nano, just plug the nano in and sync. If the collection is too big, you'll either want to manually manage it or create one or more playlists just for the nano and set iTunes to automatically sync just those playlists.

I just bought a new HP desktop computer at BB and it's great. However, I need to move over the documents on my old HP desktop to this new computer. Can Best Buy burn a CD of the documents on my old hard drive, so I can load them onto this new computer? Is that the best way to transfer these files? Cost estimate?

The labor charge is not only time spend working on the unit but the knowledge to do the service completely and without problems. Additionally, if the old computer will not boot, more labor and tools would be required that we do not charge extra for.

For me, using a computer network is the easiest, and fastest.
Next would be using DVDs
then CDs
then the iPod.
Sounds like you have never burned a CD/DVD or backed up any of your music. You do know you only get the one-time download per track from the iTMS, don't you?

How do I get all of my old apps (purchased and free etc) that are on my work macbook pro onto my home imac to sync onto my phone again?

You need to connect the iMac and the MacBook together and copy the iTunes library from your laptop to your new iMac. That will bring over all of your music, books and apps. To copy photos you can copy your iPhoto library over to the new iMac as well.
You might also want to Authorize your new iMac. Do this in the iTunes menu.
When you next connect your iphone to your iMac you will see all of your stuff there.
