How to get free apps with no credit card (exitsing account)

Hi all,
I searched around and i couldnt find the awnser. Can someone tell me how to download the free apps for my iPod touch 4G. Ive seen other threads talking about selecting ''none'' from the list but its not their.
Can anyone help me?

A couple of options:
- Create a new ID especially for free apps. See:

- Purchase an Itunes gift cord or certificate and use that as the payment method for the existing account.

I got this iPod touch for my birthday and I really wanted to get cranking on getting free apps. I had made an account and everything, and it keeps asking me to finalize my payment plans. The thing is, is that i dont have a credit card. And all i want is free apps. So what can I do, because there is no "none" option on iTunes 10.4 to indicate that you dont have a credit card. If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click "iTunes Store" in the left navigation pane. Click the "down arrow" next to your name at the top right side of the page and click "Account." Enter your username and password and click "View Account" to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click "Edit." Select the "None" button and click "Done." Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

I recently just got my ipod touch, and when i try to buy a free app, it comes up with "this apple ID has not been used in the itunes store. tap review to sign in, then review your account information". it then leads you to a page where you write your credit card number in. is there anyway of not having to put it in? or do you have to even with free apps?

You have to have a valid payment method to run an itunes account. That can be credit/debit card or a giftcard.
In some domains there are also others accepted such as click and buy (Charged to phone bill)
This is because many "free apps" may have in app purchases.

Yes I did, I have two apple ID's, one which I created only yesterday this is the one which I do not want my credit card details on.
So I signed out of my existing account (tried this in itunes store and app store, on my mac and ipod touch) then signed in with new ID, can't get past the credit card request. I don't get the none option, on the touch i don,t get the pop up scrolling window with all the options.
I want this seperate account so my son has the freedom to download free games etc on his ipod touch without access to my creditcard.

You haven't been making in-app purchases within the app, and nobody else has access to your account or iPhone and might be playing the game ? You can turn off in-app purchases on your phone via Settings > General > Restrictions. Don't know what you mean by 'why does itunes keep the available for other customers'

I do NOT like using my credit card if I don't have to, and I went out of my way to go buy an Apple gift card, which I successfully redeemed into my Apple account. However, when I use the Apple "Cards" app, it will not let me use anything other than my credit card. I tried purchasing a card, hopefulling it would come out of my Apple store balance, but no such luck -- it came out of my credit card.
Apple is becoming more like Microsoft every day.

Is it an account that hasn't been used in the store yet then how did you create it ? Unless the instructions on this page are followed when creating an account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

If you are being prompted to review the account then you could see if this post by mountaingoatgirl lets you do so without needing to enter credit card details : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24303054
If not then you will either need to enter credit card details (you should be able to remove them after entering them) or create a new account (and use the instructions on that HT2534 page when creating it). If you do create a new account and you want to use the same email address then you will need to replace it on that account first e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and logging into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com
