How to get it back?

I recently reinstalled Leopard--unfortunately, Final Cut Express did not transfer from my external hard drive (backup) without asking for a key. All I have is my disk, and no key. I just got the program. Am I going to have to purchase it again? Why don't they just put the key on the CD??

You must have used the key when you first installed it, and therefore presumably knew where the key was printed. If you ditched all the packaging after knowing the key was on it ......??!
If they printed the key on the DVD then you wouldn't be able to see it when the installer asked for it. Printing a unique key on every DVD would certainly add to the cost of the product.
