How to get iTunes 10 back on Mac OS 10.8.x?

Hello,
When I upgraded my system, MacOS overwrote my iTunes with 11.04 which for me is a big step back in ease of use.
Is there anywhere an option to download an older iTunes (10.x) somewhere and overwrite this nasty new one under 10.8.4?
Any help would be welcome.

I know how to get it to act and look like the previous itunes - at least as much as possible.
However:
- The search now comes up with this pop-up menu which gets in my way. I would like to turn it off completely.
When you have a large datase, the fastest way is to type into the search a name followed by other criteria such as album name year or genre. Anything else involves extra clicking and scrolling.
- The album cover cannot be seen in the lower left corner. I don't want it floating in a separate window, and even floating, it only comes up when the piece is playing. Sometimes I just want to verify a name or something on the cover image and for that reason I just want to click a song name once without starting it.

Anyone know how I get iTunes back onto my new 4S?

Just noticed this evening, when I wanted to go to the iTunes store, that the application is missing. Does anyone know how this could have happened or how I get it back (short of doing a complete re-install of the OS).

You cannot delete it. It is likely on another sceen, in a folder or you have restrictions set.
Check all of these.
If this fails then just reset your homescreen layout.

Itunes music on external drive - how to get it back onto mac.

hi - some time ago I transferred my growing itunes library to an external hard drive. The database remained on the mac. My mac was an old powerpc imac. So far no problem. Things moved on and I have just bought a new imac i3 etc. I would now like to transfer my itunes content to the new mac as it has loads of space. Alternatively I would be happy to keep the music on the external drive. I transferred the contents of the old mac to the new mac without any difficulty. The database on itunes arrived seemlessly on the new mac. I plugged in the external hard drive and nothing worked. I had forgotten that the old mac was power pc and the new mac was of course intel.
My question is now, how do I get the library on the external drive back onto my old mac so that I can transfer it to the new mac? Any ideas. I am sure it is simple, but am not the best on computers. I can follow instructions.

ok so i have a fresh computer, i just finished installing itunes 8.0
im pretty sure i backed up all my itunes info and folders properly to my external HD
i just plugged in my iphone to the fresh PC and it didn't transfer all my info from phone to PC....but at the bottom it does give the detail info or space used for songs, video, apps, other and free space.....but when clicking on the tabs at the top (ie info, music, videos, apps, ringtones....none of my stuff is there, it's all blank.
I was hoping my phone would dump its contents onto itunes....no luck
SO MY QUESTION IS: how do i re-fill itunes with all the files and folders i backed up on the external?? I tried dragging and dropping or right clicking and coping into the itunes icon on my desk top screen but no luck, it won't accept it.
Any help would be amazing guys!!

The itunes to iphone music sync is one way. Iphone does not support transfer of music from iphone to itunes.
If you saved your itunes folder, then you can replace the itunes folder on your new computer with the copy you saved to external drive. I'm not sure about PC but with Mac I just drag all the music to itunes and it imports.
You can use the help function in itunes to assist you as well.

My Itunes was regularly freezing when I added any type of file to my library. To fix this problem, I followed the steps to enter Safe Mode. While it did work, the steps afterwards to lead me to my Plugins and 3rd party software were futile, as opening these folders displayed nothing. I dont believe I have any 3rd party plugins at all, so what could the problem be, and how can I fix it?
Itunes has already been reinstalled and updated, so this is not the issue. Running on Win7 Aspire.

Also, I cannot edit the playlist. Once it's on there, it's on there for good.

If you purchased it on your ipad, then you would have to transfer it to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
You can then listen to it on your computer.

I already tried reloading ITunes and it still doesn't startup.

You didn't mention but are you still running a version of iPhoto older than iPhoto 11?
If yes, then go to the App Store and purchase the iP 11 app and install it. Back up your photo library first.
Once iP 11 is installed and has imported all your photos do a restart of the Mac.
This should resolve most issues with iTunes 10.6 and you should be able to run iTunes and sync up your iOS devices.

WIthout a backup of your data previously, they are all gone.
The only option you have now is data recovery.
You need to purchase, download, install and use a data recovery app like this.

You need to completely stop using your computer ASAP, at this point and just run the data recovery app and let it do its thing.
Every moment that you keep regularly using your computer risks rewriting new data in the locations where your deleted data may still reside.
A very expensive and time consuming lesson to be learned here.
Purchase and connect up a large capacity external hard drive (a drive larger than your Mac's internal hard drive) preferably a hard drive that uses FireWire 400/800 connection and use a data cloning app like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to make yourself a exact, bootable copy of your Mac's internal drive to the new external hard drive.
This will be your data backup drive.

The App store is a iOS function and cannot be deleted. Try checking other home screens/folders and see if you can locate it. If not, go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
