How to get iWeb ?

I downloaded iPhoto, iMovie and Garage Band separately and I need iWeb for my job.
How to get iWeb individually ? I cannot dowload it from Apple store.
Thanks

iWeb is no longer supported by Apple and has been discontinued.
Apple has stopped (ended) support of the iLife suite of apps and only sells new versions via the App Store and iWeb and iDVD are not part of the offerings.
Search the Web for iLife '09 DVD's to get a copy.

  • How to get iweb on Mac os x lion

Hey guys, i have just bought the new macbook air with lion, but i've seen that there isn't iweb on it!
How i can get it? On the MacApp store there isn't!

I love iWeb, and think it one of the best pieces of software that Apple has made for home consumers.
But, it really looks like it is end of the line for iWeb, and it makes sense, if one is just starting out to make sites, to consider looking at another piece of website composing software than iweb.
Why pay money for something that is going away and won't be supported.
Here is an awkward, but useful, video I made on switching from iWeb/Mobileme to Sandvox/Machighway.

  • How to get Iweb on OS 10.9.2? and where to download?

I build some sites on my old Imac, and now I would like to go on maintaing the sites on my new Macbook pro. How to do that?

    Hi there --
I too have iWeb (3.0.4.) on Mavericks (10.9.2). The last couple updates I made to my site went without a hitch, but now some images are not making it onto the site -- If you care to take a look, you'll see immediately what I mean.
What I don't understand is, software is software -- even if I'm using an outdated, almost obselete program, shouldn't it function as it always has if I publish to a folder, then use FTP (Transmit) to upload to my host??
In other words, is this image problem iWeb's fault??? (keeping in mind, I did kind of a test upload on my Spanish biography page, and the picture of the flag turned out just fine!).....  That is my main question :-)
I'm in the midst of fooling around with EverWeb, and I think I could put up with it, but at this point I think I'd better step awaaaaay from the laptop, as I am about to throw it out the window. My most basic question is, why does EverWeb view a page like, say, an upright piece of paper instead of a computer screen (like in iWeb). Does that make any sense? Anyway, that's what I'm missing so far -- being able to see the page I'm creating as it will look on the browser, and also some advanced image tricks like masking and instant alpha, which I used on my title page (if you're curious)
I don't really speak computer-ese, but I have managed to create what I think is a pretty awesome website with practically NO computer savvy using iWeb. Heck, I'd pay 80 bucks for it any day, if it meant not having to teach this old dog new tricks!
I'd appreciate any opinion you might have on my image bug! Thanks in advance for any replies
p.s. I'm beginning to regret updating to Mavericks. The new iMovie is *nothing* like the one before it; and (see above: old dog) when I continue to use the old version, some functionality is missing. Grrrr.... woof woof

  • How to get iWeb content from MobileMe

    Hi,
I'm usually making web projects with Adobe programs, but my own (more or less blog) I did it with iWeb ... to try this tool.
Now I switched from iMac to MBP (yes, great present) and after a month I remembered this "iWeb project". Now when I start iWeb the only option is to choose a template, but I would like to connect to MobileMe account where I published my blog and work further on this ... is it possible somehow, or should I copy iWeb files from iMac to MBP?
    Regards,
    Matej

What you will need is the domain.sites2 file that resides in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the iMac. Copy it to the same folder on the MBP, replacing the one that's there now, and you will be good to go.
If you want to work on the site from both computers this MacWorld article may be of some help: Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs.
If you don't have the domain file on the iMac or a backup copy of it you'll have to rebuild the site from scratch. If the site is a true blog you may lose the comments associated with it. Chapter 2.3 of the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the published files in the reconstruction of the site.

  • How do I get iweb to upload to different family pack accounts?

Hi. sorry if this has been covered before, but I can't find this particular problem anywhere. Also sorry this is going to take a while to explain. We feel we wasted an extra 50 bucks on our family pack for mac.com last year to have accounts we never could find out how to upload from our separate iWeb domain files. We needed 4 different "sub accounts" but we use one mac laptop using one desktop. Calling apple customer service was of no help. We have figured out the way to get iWeb to open different domain2 files was to copy and into each person's file (one for the gardener for their garden stuff, one for the budding chef and his cooking stuff, etc). But no matter what domain file is opened and worked on iWeb always uploads it to our main (original) user name thus erasing the site previously uploaded to it. We can't seem to find out how to change the settings in iWeb so when it uploads particular iWeb projects to Mac.com (or now me.com?) it goes to the sub accounts and not overwriting the main account. Our main account is for the entire household's news/photos etc and we don't link to the others from there. We thought by setting up the family pack we could easily get iweb to send up to the other sub accounts. Not so. We ended up last year just doing all our websites on the same iWeb domain file using "new website" function and adding a complete new website to the bottom of the list on our iWeb pages. All of them would be combined into one which uploaded everything to the main account. Not what we wanted but that was the only way that nothing would get erased by anyone else's updates but also not very private as those near the bottom of the list would have a mac.com address as long as my arm. Sorry so long winded here. But if we can't have two iweb domain files on a desk top upload to two separate mac.com accounts or sub accounts, then why pay the extra for them? Is a family pack only good for families with a computer in every room? Our family pack accounts expires in 10 days so would like to know if we need to waste another 50 bucks. And no, setting up separate desktops for for the sake of individual iWeb projects is not an option as all the files are kept together. We tried that once and got so much duplication in photos and stuff, our hard drive was full in no time.

so you have 45 different users on your one computer? ie: 45 different desktop users or am I still not understanding. To me a "user" you are referring to is what I would go up to the upper right of my toolbar and use the drop down menu and select another name (or in this case another alias of myself) but those additional accounts (users) would all have to be tied into my files on the main account to access them from all users, correct? All my files are on my one main user (myself) and not all of them are in iPhoto or iTunes, for instance any swf files. If I have other iWeb domain files (which I know how to create, duplicate and know about the last one used in iweb etc) then I have to create a separate user name (myself again) in my computer for as many iweb/me.com accounts or sub accounts that I have? But my problem with that is if I copy those domain files and move them into another account/user (which I tried) the link (the stuff at the bottom of the iWeb work window) still says my original Mac.com (me.com) address and will not let me change even when the new "user" has not even logged into Mac.com ever or the second computer is linked to a completely different mac.com account. I would have to start all over from scratch. I am sorry that I am not getting this. I know you are trying hard to explain it to me but it is just a bit too complicated to do a simple task of: I want to create a new iWeb/domain2 file on my own desktop with my own user name and have it go to "here" and not "here" within the me.com environment. I have actually copied and moved over 20 domain and domain2 files between our two macs to work on them, but each time the same connection indicated at the bottom is always the same and they will all upload to the master account at Mac I am referring to thus deleting anything we uploaded before no matter which computer they are located on. Once that domain file is created it is locked into that Mobileme account no matter what. So it has been easier to simply save to folders and purchase hosting from someone else than try to figure out what I am doing wrong with mac and me. (me, not myself)

  • How do I get iWeb to publish just the files to my root directory

Hey all, when I publish my site to my hosting server via iWeb it's just copying the entire folder into my root directory instead of copying the files to the root directory. This is causing my site url to look like this: www.mysite.com/myfolder/ how do I get iWeb to publich the files in the "myfolder" to my server instead of the entire folder?

I needed to do this while keeping ftp publishing inside iWeb, and so I developed a sneaky solution. I just figured this out, so there may be some extra steps in here. Here goes:
Find the iWeb application on the computer you are publishing from.
Control-Click on the application and choose "Show Package Contents".
In the window that appears, open the folder "Contents".
Control-Click on the folder "Resources" and choose "Get Info".
In the window that appears, open the "Sharing and Permissions" drop-down.
Click the lock in the lower-right corner and enter your password.
Where it says "Read Only" across from "Everyone", click the arrows and choose "Read and Write".
Close the "Info" window and open the "Resources" folder.
Find the "defaultPublishConfiguration.plist" file and change the permissions (repeat steps 4-7 but with "defaultPublishConfiguration.plist" instead of the "Resources" folder).
Open the "defaultPublishConfiguration.plist" file in TextEdit.
    Find the line "<string>/Web/Sites</string>".
    Change it to "<string>/Web</string>".
Save and close the text file.
    Restart iWeb.
Go to your publishing settings and enter the information for your server. Point the "Directory/Path" to the folder above your server's root web folder.
Set "Site Name" to the name of your server's web folder.
Make sure that none of the files in your server's web folder have the same name as those iWeb would upload.
    Select File>Publish Entire Site.
It should now publish your site to "http://www.yourdomain.org/Home.html".
    Hope it works!

  • How do I Get IWEB to open saved files?

    Here's the problem...
I was building a "new site" to show my boss how easy and excellent the iweb program is for making any kind of site... (my site is www.crossfitmyrtlebeach.com) and i web was copying the site to my crossfit folders.
So I found "iwebSites" app program, and created '2' distinct sites.
And created this mock up of a site for my boss.
Then was UNABLE to open the CrossFit sites though all the folders showed up...
So... I've deleted ALL the files, and somewhere, somehow...the mockup is STILL showing up when I open IWEB.
Under my user/library/appsuprt/iweb folder...there is NOTHING in the folder... no domain site name, nothing.
Yet it is still opening up?
Can anyone advise how I can get Iweb to look at and OPEN the files saved in my CrossFit folder?
    Or am a screwed?
    Thanks

yeah, I found the file...put it BACK in the proper iweb support folder, along with the site files, etc.... seems to be working now..
    Thanks!

  • Hard Drive Failed - How to get Blog/iWeb back to new hard drive?

Our hard drive failed and none of the data is recoverable. I have a new hard drive and want to do a new post on our blog, but am worried it will delete our old blog (hence all our pix etc too) if I publish from this empty new blog. How do I get the old blog back on our computer from the iDisk I guess? Any help would be great cuz I have no clue what I'm doing!

  • How to get a top name for your iweb website on google?

    Hey everyone
I've started a website on iweb. I was wondering how to get it so my website will have a good search result, first page, on google. I know my question isn't that descriptive but any help would help.
    Thanks
    Bevan James Eyles

For example, if your site had a title of "three twee kings", when it finally showed up on Google, it would be number one since there's currently not an entry for that. For other more common phrases, your site has to be where Google would think users searching on those terms would be most likely tending to go.
For me, if you do a search for keynote 3 symbols, my site is the site Google figures most users would be looking for when searching on those terms. (Incidentally, just typing Mr. Shmallow gives you one of my pages on the first page, just a couple under homestarrunner's

  • Can anyone advise on how to get a shopping cart on iweb please

can anyone advise on how to get a shopping cart on iweb please

I would suggest using Pay Pal. If you sign up for a free business account you can use the merchant services to set up buy now buttons, add to cart buttons, and the shopping cart. The only draw back is that your can't customize the look to match your site. I would use pay pal for two reasons, people know and trust them and its much cheaper than having your own merchant account. Good luck

  • How do I get iWeb to open another iWeb backup file? (I accidentally saved the file iWeb is pointing to, and don't want it.  I want to use a prior back-up iWeb version.)

How do I get iWeb to open another iWeb backup file? (Made a mistake and don't want current file iWeb is pointing to)

    Thanks Roddy.
FYI- I downloaded the "Domain.sites2" file from your page (because I deleted mine yeterday)  So now the file is sitting on my desktop in my "Download" window.
I see the good back-up file I want to use on my desktop, but when I go to drag the file from my desktop and drop it in "Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb", it does not take.  I am not allowed to drop files on that iWeb page directly.  (I tried to drop the the "Domain.sites2" file from the Download window, but that also does not allow me to drag and drop it directly to the iWeb folder.)

  • How to get my old iWeb files working in iweb'08 (version 2.0.4)

    Hi folks!
OK, so I have new iMac with iWeb'08.
I then copied all website data to the sites folder on the new machine.
Now I do not see my old websites in iWeb anymore. I start investigating and now I learnt that I need to copy a domain.sites2 file located in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb to the same location on the new iMac.
But that file is lost now because the old iMac went to my son who re-installed MacOSX.
Does anyone know how to get my old files working again????
    Thanks!

  • Have new install/How do  I get iWeb to load my current site?

I had to reload my OS. I backed up all the files before the install. I copied my site over to the Sites directory. However iWeb does not recognize it. How do I get iWeb to recognize an already published site (on .mac)? I don;t want to recreate the site again. Thx.

make sure you take your domain file from your backup and replace it in the new user library, then you should be able to double click the domain file and it will open in iweb...

  • HD died... how do I get iWeb "See" the existing published MobileMe website

Hard Drive died, lost everything. Apple replaced HD but could not save data on old drive. iWeb thinks it is "new" again and wants to start with a blank site. I have YEARS worth of published blog and content on my MobileMe account. How do I get iWeb to recognize this and not write over it destroying years of work?

Brian ~ With "years of work" at stake, you've probably prudently been regularly running some kind of backup, such as _Time Machine_ or SuperDuper! ...So wherever you've been backing up to, look for iWeb's Domain file — its filename ends in an invisible ".sites", so you could search for that. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.

  • I have recently had to fire my web designer who was using iWeb.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the site to open in iWeb on my new MacBook Pro.  Is there a way?

I have recently had to fire my web designer who was using iWeb.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to get the site to open in iWeb on my new MacBook Pro.  Is there a way?

Firstly iWeb CAN'T IMPORT any kind of published html code as it has no import facility.  You can however add html code, javascript and css by selecting the html snippet and placing it on your page the entering the code in here and clicking on Apply.  You DO NOT create a shape as you say - you use the html snippet and place your code in there.
There are not really a lot of ways in which you can write code - if you want to enter small amounts of code, then you would use an ordinary text editor to do this such as Text Edit on a Mac or Text Wrangler.  If you want to add code to iWeb like this, then you would either use the html snippet method in iWeb itself or you would have to publish the site to a local folder from iWeb and open the relevant html page with a text editor and add the additional code in this way and then publish.  However, if he decided to add the code with a text editor, then you would have to upload the pages directly to the server using an ftp client - if you try to upload the site directly from iWeb, all the extra code will be overwritten.
As for checking whether the site was created using iWeb, all you need do is view the site in Safari and then click on View and then select View Source Code and it will tell you.
Even thoough extra code was added to the site and he might well have done this by publishing to a local folder and adding the code with a text editor, he should still have the domain file for the site too.
Ask again.  I'm sure that for adding quick code, most would not want to use programmes such as Dreamweaver, but a simple text editor will suffice.  As OT already said, if he claims that he does not have the domain.sites file, then try Flux 4 which is a web design programme and has full import facilities.  At least this way, if he just gives you the published version of the site, you have some way of opening it.
You can download a free trial of Flux 4 and you can also purchase the full version from the Mac App Store if you decide you like it.
