  • How do I unlock audio from video in iMovie '11?

    I've transferred some old videos to iMovie '11 using an ADVC-55 and there are some places where the audio has slipped out of sync with the images.
    I have extracted the audio from these clips, so I can move it along the timeline to get it back into sync with the pictures - however, I cannot find how to unlock the extracted audio from the video, so I can move it along the timeline.
    I've tried everything I can think of and iMovie's Help function doesn't reveal the answer.
    This would have been easy in earlier versions of iMovie, but it's got me stumped in this version. Can anybody help, please?

    Just drag the audio left or right.
    Select a portion, then right-click/Split Clip, or EDIT/SPLIT CLIP. Then detach audio and drag it left or right.
    This was exactly my problem - that didn't work!
    I've realised now, though, that it was because I'd cut the clips so precisely that the audio couldn't be dragged either way - there was nowhere for it to be dragged to. I added some black space at the beginning and ends of the images and all now works OK

  • Why is there no image just audio on videos saved on the computer from iOS 6 and 6.0.1?

    I use my iPhone for pics and vids a whole lot. Before switching iPhones I had over 1200 pics and over 150 vids on my iPhone 4.
    About 6 weeks ago I bought a 64GB 4s to be able to save even more pics and vids. Well this 4s was on the original iOS 6 already.
    I just updated to iOS 6.0.1 about an hour ago. I tried saving all my pics and vids before doing so. Pics are saved just fine but all of
    my vids aren't. When I play them back I only get the audio from it and a black screen. I've been saving my pics and vids like you
    would from a camera going through (My Computer) on my PC and saving them to a folder. All of my old videos still play through
    QuickTime which were recorded while using iOS 5 and iOS 4  I recently did an updated on on QT as well... so what's happening?
    Please help.
    Thanks

    But it's always worked and still works on all of my older videos.
    It has something to do with the new iOS 6 but I'll try your
    suggestion.
    Thanks

  • How do I route audio from a YouTube video to AU Lab using SoundFlower so that I can capture the YouTube video's sound stream?

    How do I route audio from a YouTube video to AU Lab using SoundFlower so that I can capture the YouTube video's sound stream?

    Attach camera via USB or put card in card reader.
    Go to FCP, and go to the Log and TRANSFER window.
    If FCP recognizes the card, you will see your clips listed on the left.
    You can view them, set Ins and Outs, and import just what you want.
    Once you choose a section of video and import it, FCP converts (transcodes) from its original camera format to Apple ProRes422 - a more edit friendly video file.

    You can use some third party software to copy the music from your old iPod back to computer first, and then import the music into iTunes and re-sync them to yournew iPod. Here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • Split audio from video doesn't split video at the same point ?

    When I split the audio from a video in GarageBand I would like the video to be split at the same point (so that I can insert audio in between without everything getting out of sync).
    Is this possible?
    (I don't want to use iMovie since that turns my 150 MB mov file into a 8 GB file..take ages to import)
    The reason I want to insert audio in between video fragments is that I am creating an audio description of a tv series for a blind friend. I watch the video, pause that, and describe. Then continue.
    If I can split both the video and "audio from video" at the same point and drag those to the right, so there's room to record something in between (then in the end I'll just drag it all so that the parts join up, delete the video and merge the audio. I hope.)
    Thanks in advance!!

    I figured out how to reset the Youtube video upon hiding thanks to Heathrowe's answer and FigFrance's contribution to the thread found here:
    https://forums.adobe.com/message/4979969#4979969
    The secret was adding .empty() to my video container.  Here is my functioning button code:
    Show Video:
    //code to embed youtube into symbol
    var youtube = $("<iframe/>");
    sym.$("video").empty().append(youtube);
    youtube.attr('type', 'text/html');
    youtube.attr('width', '640');
    youtube.attr('height', '360');
    youtube.attr('src', 'https://www.youtube.com/embed/MyFv6UKsW70?rel=0');
    youtube.attr('frameborder', '1');
    youtube.attr('allowfullscreen', '0');
    // Show an element
    sym.$("video").show();
    Hide Video:
    sym.$("video").empty();
    // Hide an element
    sym.$("video").hide();

  • How do I just have a video as my theme?

    How do I just have a video as my theme?
    I don't want any of these themes, I just want a video to play full screen in the background while you're selecting buttons etc...
    Can this be done?

    Hello eric.lahm,
    Welcome to the discussions. Yes, you can do this easily if you have the old themes from prior versions of iDVD.
    If you can get the old themes, there are several that will work for you. I tested these by dropping a short video into the drop zone well, and they gave just what you want: a full screen video (with its audio) playing with the buttons overlaying it. By opening Inspector and selecting 'Free Position' I moved the buttons so that they did not obscure the video.
    Was remarkably simple! You can always mute the audio if you don't want that to play.
    The themes that work best: Marquee, Sky, Chalkboard, YourPhotoHere..because the buttons are text buttons that do not interfere with the running video. Others that will work but have the buttons showing clips/stills are Kids Blue, Kids Pink, Baby Blue, Baby Pink, Graphite, Sage, Brushed Metal9, Burlap, Leather,Happy Days--you get the idea--basically any theme that has just one drop zone for the main menu, so that the chosen video (or Photo) fills the screen.
    Hope this helps you.

  • How do I synchronise audio and video with an mpg file created in elements 11 ?

    How do I synchronise audio and video with an mpg file created in Premier Elements 11 ?
    The source files are VOB files, and there is no problem with those source files.  But after creating the mpg file, the audio can be out of sync by 1 second or even 10 seconds, and sometimes zero seconds (ie perfectly OK).  That varies.  The variation might be linked to some of the VOB files.  ie. some are OK, and some are not.
    Can I fix this automatically in Elements 11, or am I doing something wrong ?

    Hartwood,
    First, Premiere (both Pro and Elements) do not handle MPEG Audio perfectly - they like some files, but not all files with MPEG Audio. That makes a VOB a less-than-perfect source file. Still, with a bit of work, one should be able to edit it just fine. One of the factors is that there is a very slight block-size difference between the Encoded Video Stream and the Encode Audio Stream in a muxed MPEG-2 file. That often does not play into things, but can cause slight OOS (Out of Sync) issues. Also, both Premieres need to create all I-Frame files for the Video Stream, which is in GOP (Group of Pictures) structure, so what one sees on the Timeline is really a proxy of the MPEG-2 file's Video Stream. The Audio Stream must also be Conformed to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 32-bit floating point, to be edited. That Conforming is perfect when one has PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit for the Audio Stream, but requires more work, when the Audio Stream is MPEG (one reason that some MP3's do not work well in Premiere). Several factors involved here, and a fair amount of work for the program. That is why DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio works so perfectly.
    Now, fixing OOS might be easy, or might require a bit more work. This article goes into some workflows, that might be helpful: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/436751?tstart=0
    I can feel your pain, as I almost went crazy trying to fix OOS in a client's Project. They ONLY had the finished DVD, from which to work. The disc met the DVD-standards, so everything ripped/Imported fine, and when the simple edits were done (IIRC, there were four scenes, that had to be shortened, and then several Titles added), everything played fine in the Timeline. However, when I Transcoded that Timeline to be authored in Adobe Encore, two scenes went OOS. I went back to Premiere, and checked - all perfect there. I tried to judge the number of Frames that the Audio was out, in those scenes, and nudged them, tested, nudged, tested, and no matter what I did, I could never get the output files perfect, when Imported into Encore for authoring to DVD-Video. I tried DV-AVI, and letting Encore set the Transcoding automatically (usually a great way to work), I tried manually setting the Transcoding in Encore. I tried outputting to MPEG-2 from Premiere, and Importing that. No matter what I did, those two scenes were just OOS, and I could not even seem to improve them - it was like they were just locked OOS. I finally did some more editing, to break things up a bit, added a cut-away shot here, and there, and minimized the perceived OOS, but could never get it perfect. It was like trying to pick up quicksilver with a pair of tweezers!
    Good luck,

  • Ipad background audio from video when multitasking

    Hello.
    This is a request if people can either feedback On their present experience or try this out themselves first and feedback.
    I have an ipad 1. When ever i try to get background audio to play from video when multitasking in another app, eg safari, from any video app including plex, airvideo, vlc,  and the original apple video app. All that occurs is that the icon changes to the ipod and a random song is played from my music library instead of the audio from the video i was watching. This does not matter if the video file is streamed or stored on the ipad itself.
    There is one slight and occasional proviso to this, as at times if the video file is tagged in itunes as 'music' rather than 'movie' or 'tv show' etc then it does on occasions work, and on occasions youtube videos will play in the background. But most of the time these aspects also dont function int he background with the ipod icon instantly replacing which ever video app icon i tried to use in the background.
    Now my sons iphone 4 manages to function correctly and always plays video in the background when multitasking.
    I have asked this question before on this forum, with no response, so booked a visit to my local genius bar. Where they checked my ipad and agreed it wasnt working as ios should, then interestingly they attempted to do the same on an ipad 2 and it failed to work in exactly the same way.  Their response was that this was obviously a fault of the ipad ios, possibly due to the ipad having a separate video app where as the iphone has video within its generic ipod app.
    I did the usual by informing apple via of this bug through the feedback system, and requested that the genius bar do the same. But having thought about this, and failed to see any other users on this forum who are also puzzled at this lack of what i think is an important function, i wonder if this means that i am the only one who likes to listen to video when im browsing, so dont need it, or wether everyone elses ipads function as ios should do, and for some reason both my ipad, and the ipad 2 tested in the shop are at fault.
    So can i request if others reading this can have a go to see if their ipad will play background audio from video when multitasking, or if the same problem occurs.
    Thanks very much this is really appreciated.

    Oops clicked the wrong button, I meant to click a 'helpful answer' as it  hard to have a correct answer to such a question.
    But thanks for the replies.
    It looks like this is a bug in ios solely for the ipad, as it does work fine on the iphone  although wonder which way the ipod touch will perform. interestingly it looks like i may also be in the minority of wishing to listen to video files as I browse:)
    Which probably means apple may never get around to sorting it, as no one else uses the function.
    Anyway thanks for the replies, if any one else wants to see the bug have a go and comment, i find it funny how I seem to be the only one to have found it to date.
