But, if you decide to purchase after the trial, you can convert that build over to a perpetual (standalone) version with a serial number. Need step by step instructions on how to get Lightroom to run in Windows

First I downloaded Lightroom successfully using newest version of Creative Cloud. It would not run. Literally, nothing happens.
Then I found some info online that says when Lightroom CC doesn't run, you must uninstall it and download it from the Adobe website instead of using Creative Cloud.
When I try to download it in either Firefox or Chrome, I get this error message "Firefox/Chrome doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (aam) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context."
After a lot of searching around, I discovered that I needed to download the Adobe Application Manger. I did so but it calls itself the Adobe Update Management Tool. Very confusing.
Then I went back to the Adobe website and tried to download Lightroom again and got the same error message.
Next, I ran the Adobe Update Management Tool and clicked on Get and Install Online Updates which seemed to be the only relevant choice. In the dropdown box under Select Product Type, there are many Adobe programs listed but Lightroom isn't one of them. I gave up on trying to download Lightroom directly from the Adobe website.
I then re-downloaded Lightroom successfully using Creative Cloud. It still would not run.
Next I found some info online that says you have to go into Appdata > Adobe > Local and rename the OOBE file to OOBE.old, so I did that. Lightroom still would not run. I rebooted. This time when I tried to run Lightroom, I got the screen where you have to accept Adobe's terms and conditions. I did so. Lightroom but still would not run.
Is there anyone who has been through this and knows exactly what steps in what order I need to take to get Lightroom to run? I have Photoshop CC and it runs without any problems.

You might reboot and try the other Solution #1/2 items, again. Since you did so much hacking which may not have been related to the issue, there may be something else not right because of it.
You also might try uninstalling and reinstalling LR 5.5 from the cloud, again, or installing the LR 5.5 standalone update from the Adobe updates page: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
You also might try uninstalling your all Adobe software, running the CS Cleaner and installing, again:

You haven't said what other Adobe software you're running.
Is this the very first time you've tried to run LR on this computer or have you upgraded from previous versions that worked ok?

Photoshop Photographers Program -- How to Get Lightroom?

I purchased the PPP and was directed to the creative cloud download of PS. How do I get Lightroom? Going to the LR download page, and clicking on the download icon opened up my CC desktop application, and I could not download from there. I went and downloaded the trial version. So how do I register it under the Photographer's Program? Or, having paid for the PPP, where's the license code?

How can I get Lightroom 5.7 to display in full screen mode in Yosemite (Mac OS X 10.10.1)?
Of course, that old full screen button at the top right of the window is gone now in Yosemite, but the third button in the top left of the window (the one that used to be green) should perform the same function, but it doesn't -- it just resizes the window, which was the default behaviour in Mavericks.
And there's no "Enter Full Screen" command under the View menu, either.
Seems pretty essential that a photo editing app would have a full screen view to remove all the clutter. How do you do it in Lightroom?

Shift+F Toggles the different screen modes for the Lightroom application, pressing F Takes an individual image into full-screen mode.

Volker- You should update to v. 2.1 asap, and 2.2 when released in the next couple of weeks.
LR doesn't depend on ACR, but has a parallel, more or less, conversion engine built in.

Welcome to the forum.
As CS4 is no longer current, I kind of doubt that you will find the trial. You might try a site like ProDesign Tools, but most of their links are directly to Adobe's download site, so may not be of use.
I have not heard of any facility that maintains older trial downloads, but there are a few people here, who always surprise me with their "finds."

How to get lightroom adjustments to be applied to original file?

So I'm new to the lightroom platform and I've tried searching around to figure this out but can't quite get the answer I'm looking for. I added some files to a new folder in my lightroom library. They are all JPEGs that I just wanted to learn the system with. When I make changes to a photograph (shadows, exposure, lens corrections, etc.) the photograph looks good in lightroom, but when I go to where the original image is stored and try to open that image in mac's preview it shows the original image with none of the adjustments I have applied in lightroom. Is there any way to get the changes that I'm making to the added photos in Lightroom to appear on the original images on the desktop or external hard drive when I open them outside of lightroom? Or do I need to export another copy of that image and then have 2 of the same images in my folder? (one original, and one processed?)

You need to export. That is how LR is designed. All adjustments are non-destructive and stored in the database (catalog). adjustments are applied when you export a version to the desktop or a selected folder.

I did down loaded LR 5 from Adobe CC where is the only location I can down load Adobe app by following instructions from Adobe online store before I bought CC full function subscription. Then I un-installed it by deleting it while I saw it was not showed in my CC desktop after I bought full function subscription and installed CC. I understood the correct way to uninstall Adobe SW is by uninstaller. However, I could not find uninstaller from folder you mentioned or anywhere else (even now, I still can not locate to /application/utilities/Adobe installer, no Adobe installer can be seen in the location you mentioned. I just can find an Installers folder in resource/application support/adobe or application/tool/adobe installers instead, but I could not find any message directly related to Lightroom in Installers but Photoshop from CS3 till Photoshop cc & of course Create Cloud installer) for uninstalling Lightroom 5 then, so I just can simply remove it by delete it. I had ever thought I may have to remove all versions of Lightroom I bought from Adobe in order to let CC to re-allocate Lightroom to CC desktop app list. I finally did not delete all versions of Lightroom for I am currently using Lightroom 4 for developing photos I took in past few weeks including in the wedding of my daughter. I can not sure if I can install Lightroom 4 back after uninstalled it. I should not take this risk so I did not delete Lightroom 2-4 after I deleted Lightroom 5.

I purchased Photoshop CC today. Trying to find where I can find Lightroom 5 to download. I use a Mac system.

Have you joined the Cloud as a Single App member for Photoshop only?
Lightroom 5 is only included in the membership fee of full Cloud members.
If you're a Single App member then you'll have to purchase Lightoom 5 separately.

How do I get Lightroom 4 to recognize my .nef raw pics from D5300 Nikon?

Adobe lists my D5300 Nikon as compatible, and others I know can upload .nef from different Nikons. (Don't know another with D5300 to ask)

I am using Windows 8.1, and no updates are listed for Windows or for my version of Lightroom 4.

I did have to install a codex in windows to view .nef. But that didn't help my LR4.

The above list shows that support for the Nikon D5300 was introduced in Lightroom version 5.3.
You have two options a. Upgrade to LR version 5 (latest version is 5.5) or b. Download and utilize the Adobe DNG Converter version 8.3 or later, to convert the .nef files from the D5300 to dng format. Lightroom version 4 will be able to read and process the dng files.
If you choose the b. option its best you use the option to retain your original raw files. For one your Nikon software will not read the dng files.

You haven't seen the raw image data until you look at the DNG files in Lightroom. The DNG file contains precisely the same raw data that was in the NEF file. The image that you see on your camera is the JPEG preview that is built into the NEF file. And the JPEG preview is affected by all of the in camera settings. And those settings COULD include Active D-lighting, sharpening, style settings, Expeed processing, etc. And none of those settings are going to be picked up by Lightroom.
It's natural and expected that the raw image data won't appear to be as good as what you saw on the camera display. But you can make adjustments to get the images looking even better than what the camera displayed. And that is what shooting raw is all about. If you read in your manual it will indicate that shooting raw produces an image that must be processed. And that is what you do in Lightroom. If you find a set of adjustments that you make consistently to all of your images you can make those adjustments on a newly imported image and then save new camera defaults. Then those settings will be applied to all images that are imported from that point onward. And will be applied to any already imported images when you click on the reset button in the develop module.

Lightroom 5.7 standalone version prompted me to upgrade to 6.0 and routed me to Adobe web site, but I can't pay the upgrade version due to incorrect country.
So I tried to get my Lightroom 6 standalone version from Hong Kong Adobe. I paid around HK$680 to get Lightroom 6 standalone upgrade version. There was no platform to select and only one option "multiple platform" in download form, so I select the ONLY option and started to download. However, I got a DMG file finally and I can't install it in my Windows 7 desktop ... What can I do now?
I am very frustrated in upgrading process from 5.7 to 6, it waste me two nights and still can get Lightroom 6 installed in my machine.

I do not think that Creative Cloud is an application that gets installed on your PC.
