How to get mail out of full screen? (want to change preferences)

Hi - New to Mountain Lion. I changed Mail to full screen & can't get out of it. When I quit (command-Q) and reopen, it's still full screen. Frankly, I don't ever want to go to full screen again. I have bunches of other questions about mail but this one is foremost. Thanks.

Either press Ooption-Command-F, or move your mouse to the menu bar and when it appears click the blue button to the far right.

  • How do I switch out of full screen in OS 10.10

I am really frustrated by some of the features in OS 10.10.  When I click on the green button in the top left of a window, the window fills the screen.  I can't bring up the doc and I lose my menu bar unless I mouse to the top of the screen.  Clicking the green button used to just fill the screen with the window but I could still see the menu bar and access the doc.  How do I get out of full screen mode (I can't see any button to click that will do that) so that I can see my menu bar all the time and access my dock.  Is there a way to turn off this new green button feature and go back to the old way?

  • How do you exit out of full screen mode for FCPX? ESC does not work.

Hi guys. I cannot seem to find the exit to full screen viewing mode in final cut pro x. Escape key doesn't do the trick. There are no "exit full screen" buttons that pop up. It is confusing and I have to force quit the program every time I use full screen! Please help!

There are two full screen modes in FCP X when running in MacOS X Lion.
    Fullscreen playback:
Enter using the double arrow on the viewer or with command-shift-F.
         Exit with the Escape key.
    Fullscreen editing:
Enter using the double arrow on the top right of FCP X's windows or control-shift-F.
         Exit using escape or control-shift-F.
This is how it works for me.

  • How to get mail out of Gmail?

I want to EXPORT ALL MAIL, sent and received, from GMail to Apple Mail and to Yahoo Mail. If you ask this question of Google you get many encouraging replies, but NONE OF THEM explain if it can be done and if so, how to do it. Many explain how to FORWARD new mail to another mail program, but that's about it.
I'm trying to move five years worth of email.  25000 emails received and a much smaller number sent.
I have a Gmail account and a Yahoo account, and both are fed by my comcast account, comcast being my longtime ISP.
Trouble is, some years ago I started forwarding all my mail to the Yahoo account, and then, a couple years later to the Gmail account TOO, and I erased some years worth of email from the COmcast account. So now, what i'm trying to do is consolidate into ONE ACCOUNT all emails set and received.
Any ideas on how I can get this done?

Just open up apple mail and it will ask you to setup your mail account by enter ingyour gmail username and password. it should bring all your mail and sent mail to your apple mail.
you can setup another account with your yahoo mail username and password and it will import everything as well to apple mail.

  • Spotlight Search results - how to get the "categories" view full-screen?

I don't use Spotlight that often, but when I did in TIGER I got a nice listing by category when I requested the SHOW ALL results screen. I saw results grouped by documents, folders, images, pdf, contacts etc.
Now with LEOPARD I see the categories when I search by clicking on the upper right-- but then if I choose SHOW ALL the results appear in a smart folder and they are in more or less the standard name, kind or date format-- but the wonderful categories listing (as in the dropdown menu listing) is no longer there. IS THERE A WAY to get that 'categories' listing view back?
    Best regards,

Categories is gone from Leopard's Spotlight. For more on Leopard's Spotlight, see http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/Leopard/leospot.html and my mod to Finder's Find at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6725932 for what you can change so you can find stuff excluded by the default structure.

  • How do I get out of "full screen" view. When I put my crusor at the top of the screen I get SOME menus showing, but nothe the "firefox" drop-down where I selected full screed (I was just trying to zoom out, actually)

I think the question pretty well summed it up. I selected full screen mode from the "firefox" drop-down box at the top left, but once in full screen mode, the drop-down box is not available. How do I get back to the standard view??

Press the F11 key to toggle into and out of full screen mode.
Or, move the mouse pointer to the top of the screen and right-click the "+" (new tab) button, or in a blank area of the tab bar, or in a blank area after the address box, and exit full screen mode from the context menu.

  • How do I get out of "full screen mode" on my tablet?

I don't know how I got into full screen mode first of all and I can not figure out how to get out of full screen mode. I have a tablet, my toolbar with the menu symbol is missing at the top and the bar at the bottom is missing. I don't have any keys with "F" features, so I can't press F11. Does anyone else have this problem? I have windows 8.

Argh. There aren't many things more frustrating than an app hogging your entire screen.
Do you have a compact keyboard? If so, there should be a key labelled ''fn'' and another key which is labelled ''F11'' (maybe in blue writing). Try holding down fn and press the F11 key.
Alternatively touching or swiping right at the very top of the screen should reveal Firefox's toolbar - you can press the [[Image:New Fx Menu]] at the top right and then select ''full screen'' to shrink Firefox back down to size.
    Hope those ideas help! :)

How do you get out of Full Screen mode in Excel? No red or yellow buttons visible. Using just installed Yosemite iOS 10.10.2

I Don't think Microsoft updated it for those buttons. Look for a blue button with arrows in it on the right side of the menu bar.
    Also try Esc key.

The "full screen" button that was on the left in Mavericks has been removed and is now the green dot (or rightmost of the three) on the left side of application windows now.
If you prefer shortcuts you can also use control+command+f to move in and out of full screen mode, assuming the app(s) you are using support full screen.
