How to get more volume on european ZEN mic

Hi folks,
I am using an european ZEN micro which has a quite low max volume. It's hard to listen to it in the tram filled with school kids :smileysurprised:
I heard that the max volume of the EU iPod is limited due to some special laws. Is that also true for the ZEN? And is there any possibility to get rid of this limiter?

I was really pleased with my ZMP which I have had for about 6 weeks now. However I made a train journey recently and found that the volume was not sufficient to overcome the background noise on the train. I also found I need to turn up the volume on my car stereo whe using my cassette adaptor.
I found a few posts on this forum regarding the European firmware, and the belief that it is volume-limited. I downloaded the US firmware from the Creative website and flashed the ZMP. I can confirm that there is a considerable volume increase with this firmware, and I recommend it to any European users who are looking for a boost to the volume on their player. The usual caveat applies about upgrading firmware at your own risk. Make sure you know what you're doing before you begin.
Now, I don't need the ZMP above about 4 when listening in a quiet environment, (max volume is 25), and it is now balanced with the radio volume in my car when using the cassette adaptor, so no more blasting of the radio when I eject the cassette adaptor, since the ZMP is driving the adaptor at a better level.

How to get more volume out of an iPod Touch

I've got what I think is a second generation iPod Touch (chrome back plate, and no camera).
Version: 4.2.1 (8C148)
Model: MB531LL
It has very low volume - with the volume turned up to maximum, I can't really hear it. (It doesn't help any that I have hearing issues...)
According to the "Sound Level" app on my iphone, the volume ranges from 30 to 50 db - but who knows how accurate that is.
Doing the same test with my Nokia N8, it plays at 70 to 80 db for comparison - and to me, it's far from being "loud".
With a set of headphones plugged in, the iPod works just fine. I'm new to iPod - is the device only supposed to be used with headphones/earphones, and is it normal that I can barely hear it without them?
What I've done so far...
For a different reason, I completely re-set the device back to factory settings, wiping all the old data. I think I did that right - it should be back to "new" condition.
Maybe it's supposed to be this way, or maybe it needs repair, or (as I hope) maybe there is some additional setting so I can fix the volume.
As a related question, I installed Viber on the device yesterday, so it's now on both of my idevices. On the iPhone 3GS, when someone calls me, it rings quite loudly. On the iPod, it's almost impossible to tell it's ringing unless it's right in front of me.
Any advice? For $190 or so, I guess I can always buy the latest model.

Good thought, thanks. It does look like the 250 setting is the lower frequency, and by raising that and loewring the others the bass sound is somewhat improved.
My husband, who has been in the music industry for years, explained to me that there will likely always be a difference between listening to an MP3 through headphones and a CD through speakers. The MP3 files are compressed and thus lose some of the richness of their sound. Speakers have woofers, which headphones do not (although he has a pair with some built in, which is unusual) and that's why sound is richer from speakers than headphones.
I also have purchased Creative's noise cancelling head phones for use when I'm traveling. They may offer a better sound than any ear buds can offer.

Many governments now limit how loud headphones can go. Europe has been plagued with this for many years. Separate amplifiers are available.
I believe volumes should be kept at reasonable levels to avoid hearing loss, but it's not the governments job to protect me.
I prefer Beyerdynamic over Bose Headphones. (They spend a lot less money on advertising.)

How to get more features for Captivate 6

Hi all,
I've installed Captivate 6 on my laptop at work, I use it for creating training material for our project management system. I was just looking at some Adobe video tutorial and there are some features shown in the videos that I can't find on my captivate (for example Drag and Drop interaction, some particular widget like "Hangman" etc...). I tried to download them, clicking on the "Download more interactions" but there are any available. So, is there a way to get those features, at least those shown in your video tutorial for Captivate 6?

Even if I click on "Download more" on the Interactions window, there are no Interactions available, but is it a problem related to my version or it's because there aren't available new features?

I cannot remember for the Hangman interaction anymore, but Drag&Drop was only available for subscription users, for version 6.1.0.3190 Maybe it was not clear in the video you are pointing at, that not all features were available for box licenses. Which version do you have?

You can look at the material stored and see what you don't need and delete. But a better way is to get an external hard drive and move large quantities of material to the external storage. That will free up internal storage capacity.

I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that.
Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
1. See Lion's Storage Display.
2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.

I Believe that when i purchased my ipod classic in the UK quite a few years ago that they were being limited to the amount of volume you
could have on them compaired to other countries?? My 120GB ipod classic has 2.0.1 software on it and i wondered if there is any way
to get unlimited volume?? I seem to have issues playing it in my car through my FM transmitter too (volume is terrible), not sure if this is
due to a rather bad connection there is at the charging point??

iPods purchased within the European Union are volume restricted compared to ones purchased outside the EU. You cannot over-ride this restriction.
However, there are several things you need to check and try;
make sure that the Volume limit (on the iPod) is not set on. This is different to the volume restriction. When you turn the volume up to maximum on the iPod's Now Playing screen, if the speaker icon on the right turns into a padlock, then the volume limit is on. To change this setting, go (on the iPod) into Settings/Volume Limit and set it so that the small up-facing arrow stays at the top end of the scale. The bar will not be at the top end of the scale unless you have the Now Playing volume set to maximum, so don't worry where the bar indicator sits.
I assume from what you say that you have an FM transmitter connected to the headphone socket of your iPod, so make sure that the Now Playing screen's volume is at maximum once you have checked the above. If this doesn't give you enough volume, try moving the FM transmitter to a different place in your car to see if it makes any difference. It may not, but it's worth a try.
If the above doesn't solve the issue, you could try buying a "Line Out Dock Cable" such as this; http://www.amazon.co.uk/FiiO-Line-Dock-Cable-iPhone/dp/B004M172HW/ref=sr_1_7?ie= UTF8&qid=1332457355&sr=8-7 . It takes the unrestricted output from the iPod's dock connector (obviously, I hope) which you then connect to the FM transmitter.
As a last resort if none of the above works for you, you could try a headphone amplifier such as this; http://www.amazon.co.uk/FiiO-E5-Headphone-Amplifier-Black/dp/B0026RJQJ6/ref=sr_1 _1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332457355&sr=8-1 one. There are other makes available, this was the first one I found.

How to get more control over DVR recordings

Looking for some advice on how to make sure the DVR records (and keeps) the episodes I want.
An example:
I want to record a series that is still producing new episodes, but is also in repeats in syndication. For example, Big Bang Theory. This has new episodes each week on CBS, but has about twenty or so repeats each day on TBS.
Due to the high number of repeats, any new episodes pretty quickly get overwritten by the repeats. So is there a way to record both first-run and repeat episodes, but prevent the first-runs from getting overwritten before I can watch them?

Put simply, I cannot change the settings on how I record each show.
Try the Box's Menu/customer support/tops support tools/Fix Fios TV option. (exact working may be different on your box)

The Jet OLE DB provider reads a registry key to determine how many rows are to be read to guess the type of the source column. The registry setting is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Excel\TypeGuessRows

By default, the value for this key is 8. Hence, the provider scans the first 8 rows of the source data to determine the data types for the columns. If any field looks like text and the length of data is more than 255 characters, the column is typed as a
memo field. So, if there is no data with a length greater than 255 characters in the first 8 rows of the source, Jet cannot accurately determine the nature of the data type. Therefore, values longer than 255 characters may be truncated or ignored.
To import data from a memo column, we must make sure that the memo column in at least one of the sampled rows contains a value longer than 255 characters. Or we can increase the number of rows sampled by the driver to include such a row by increasing the

Error shows up in default trace, but nowhere else; how to get more info ?

Our default (java) traces get filled up quickly with the following messages :

based on the phrase "Klantnaam" and "mt_Order" I could find the likely culprit interface. this is a plain and
simple SOAP-to-IDOC scenario.
these messages never show up in RWB, so they must fail before RWB even is involved.
I suspect that someone is sending us malformed soap (or http?) requests, and the soap message cannot be constructed from the message payload.
sometimes (but not nearly as often as the log messages appear) I see a message in RWB with this text as "message : SOAP document" :

seems like a HTTP header to me, but not quite sure...
my question : what can I do to get more information, especially about the content of the messages causing this behaviour ?
I tried enabling more logging for the components menstioned in the above entries, but to no avail.
traces in SMICM and SICF also were not helpful.
I hope to avoid to need to trace the actual network for the messages...

my main question is how I can get more information on that source message.
is there any trace which dumps that message content before it is being passed to and parsed by the soap adapter ??
I have no clue who is sending this request, so I cannot ask them to investigate.

Some are free and some are for purchase.
You cant buy presets. Maybe you can swap them with someone but I dont know how.
