How to get music downloaded from iTunes on iPhone into main iTunes

I have downloaded some music from iTunes on my iPhone but when i sync my iPhone it is not adding this downloaded music to my main iTunes library (on the laptop). If i select to sync the music it says that it will remove the music from my iPhone and replace with what is in the library (laptop).
How can i update my laptop iTunes with the downloaded music i have added?

Connect your phone, itunes running, do not sync. Go up to File>Transfer Purchases. Your purchased content should transfer from your phone to itunes. The music sync is one way: computer to phone.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

Barbara, I don't know how to get to the artwork to remove it. I saw a post on this forum on how to show hidden files and went to the control panel and followed the instructions. I still can't see any hidden files or artwork. Hope you can tell me where I am going wrong.

... although it also says you ought to be an affiliate to actually use it.

How can I get music REMOVED from iTunes Store?!

I manage a band who has never been signed to a record label however, they had a distribution deal which has since expired and the company went under. Apparently they put a CD up of my band on iTunes Store and items look to have been purchased as the Popularity "meter" is maxed out on some. Where the money is going outside of Apple's cut... who knows. But how can I get my band's music removed from iTunes' Store? I can't find contact numbers anywhere. Thanks for any help!!

You should be able to download them on your computer's iTunes by clicking on your id towards the top right of the iTunes screen and then click Purchased on the popup
As long as the iPad and computer are on the same wifi network and iTunes is open on the computer then you should be able to use home sharing to stream them from the computer to the iPad (so they don't have to be stored on the iPad to view them on it) : Learn more about Home Sharing.
In terms of a refund, purchases are considered final, but you can try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

The steps for getting music onto your iPod is outlined in the following Knowledge Base article:

Set up syncing
Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable.
Locate your connected iOS device.
After clicking on your iOS device, tabs will appear on the left side of the iTunes window under Settings.
Summary: Features information about your device, options for backing up or updating your device, and accessibility settings.
Apps: Manage your apps and file sharing.
Music: Sync your music.
Movies: Sync your movies.
TV Shows: Sync your TV shows.

iTunes U: Sync your iTunes U courses.
Books: Sync your books and and PDF documents.
Tones: Sync your ring and other alert tones.

Some tabs might not appear if you don't have the corresponding content in your library. For example, if you don't have any podcasts in your library, the Podcast tab won't appear.

To turn on syncing, click the content type from the list under settings, then click the box next to Sync [content type]. If there's a check in the box already, syncing is turned on for that tab. To turn off syncing, uncheck the box.
Click the Sync button in the lower-right corner of the screen to sync your content. Only the information in the content list you've enabled syncing for will sync to your computer. If you made any changes to any of the settings, you will first need to click the Apple button.

Unable to burn CDs with music downloaded from iTunes store

It seems that quite a few people have been having problems burning CDs using iTunes 5 and 6, but I'd like to know how many people are experiencing the same problem that I am. iTunes will not burn any of my playlists featuring tracks downloaded from the iTunes store. Playlists free of iTunes downloads, whether they contain tracks I've imported from CD or other MP3 files, will burn fine. If I try to burn a playlist that features tracks purchased from the iTunes store, iTunes simply freezes up and I have to close it down with the Task Manager.
I've spoken the the Apple support staff in the UK, and they've advised me to try closing down my anti-virus software and removing other music download programs. I've done both of these, but no luck. I have a case number but before I call them back, I'd like to know how many other iTunes users have had the same problem, and whether they've found a solution.

I have that EXACT same problem! I have no idea what to do though, but it is very mucho frustrating. Let me know if you find out anything, and I will do the same.

Hey, I hadthe same problem, here's what i did:
From your apple TV, go to settings, itunes store, and log out.
Then log back in.
I tried everything else but nothing worked. It seems that the initial settings didn't stick.
Try it...I hope it solves your problem like it did mine.

My iPod refuses to sync some music downloaded from iTunes because my computer is "not authorized", although I have authorized it.

I have recently got a new computer, and decided to transfer my iTunes from my iPod (for I had to delete my music off my father's iTunes to conserve memory). thanks in advance. I burned from itunes a track on to a cd. then tried to upload from cd to fcp. it plays for about 5 seconds, then stops with error msgs:
"turn off unlim rt"
lower compression rate"
or "lower pref for real time audio track"
I'm new to fcp and am stuck. can't find help in the books either. any way to just lift a music file straight from itunes to fcp.

The "media drive" isn't a mac thing...it is a video editing thing. This is a drive that is separate from your main computer's hard drive where you store ALL of your captured footage, audio, video elements, graphics, still photos...everything you use in your video project. You should NOT be using your system drive for this.
This drive, on the low end, can be a firewire drive. 7200RPM at least.
You need to copy the music files OFF of the CD and onto your media drive...and you really should be organized about this. Organization is a HUGE part of video editing.
