How to get my DVD out?

New to Macs.
Attempted to create a disk image of an AVCHD disk using disk utility. The process got aborted with my DVD remaining inside the Mac. The DVD icon on the desktop has vanished and going into the Finder I find that I cannot see it there. How can I now eject the DVD?

Hi there,
Thanks for this speedy response. Shall do this first and let you know the result!

  • A dvd will not eject from my brand new IMac. I have done every suggestion in the help area. Any suggestions on how to get this DVD out of the computer?

My brand new IMac will not eject a DVD. I have tried everything that was suggested in "help". It didn't recognize the dvd, and whenever I try to eject it, it is not highlighted. I have tried to restart while holding the track pad, and nothing happened at all. The dvd is from the library...so it needs to be returned! Any other suggestions?

Have you tried all of these?
    1. Pressing the Eject key while opening the iMac.
    2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
    3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
    4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
    5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
    6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
    7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

i left a dvd in my macbook pro for a while and now my computer wont recognize that there is even a disk in there, nor will it eject it. how do i get the dvd out?

Hold down the mouse button or trackpad clicker as you start up.
If no joy, restart and hold the Option key. This brings up the Startup Manager, which will draw an Icon for each bootable Volume. When all are drawn, the Eject key is "live".

  • I can't get the DVD out of my mac

I'm trying to get the DVD out of the machine . I tried to restart the machine and hold down the mouse, but that still does not work. Does anyone know how to solve this?
    Thank you

    Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

how to get mac dvd player not to play all and stop at each title

    Play all chapters, i mean.
I have a DVD and I would like to just play a chapter, and discuss it, without the next chapter automatically starting. Usually DVD players have the "Play all" you can turn off and on...but I don't see it with the Mac player.

  • I can't  get the dvd out of the machine

i was checking out the native instruments absynth 3 tutorial dvd. after quit the dvd i can not manage to eject it , i get a message saying that dvd is still in use and i have to quit the applications and try again. but there are no applications open, i even tried to force quit the finder , then shut the machine off. and turned it on again , no avail. i can't get the dvd out. any ideas?

Restart the machine with the Option, Command, O, and F keys held down, and type the following commands into the prompt:
    eject cd
    mac-boot
The DVD should be ejected once the first command has been issued. There are some other options available on this page.

  • How can I get a dvd out of a mini?

My Mac Mini will not start. I need to get the system DVD out of the drive. How can I do that?

If the unit can not be powered up it will have to be taken apart.
The good thing is the cd/dvd rom is right on the top of the unit so you do not have to really dig into it.
The cdrom has 4-5 very small screws that once out the top cover of the cdrom comes off revealing the cd that you need.
    Take a look at this.

  • How to get a dvd to play on my air using a samsung se-208 reader?

i have been trying to get a dvd to pla and it just won't work! can anyone tell me step by step how to do it?
    thanks,

Thanks for your thoughts, but unfortunately, I can't dictate what kind of technology my clients use. My target audience is almost always government employees, who don't get the luxury of using dual-tower macs. No one has to convince me that Macs and Mac OS are superior platforms. What I can't quite believe is that there's not anything wrong with either my process or with the code written by DVDSP. I have no idea why iDVD writes readable discs but DVDSP does not. That seems to be a problem with Steve Jobs, not Bill Gates. If commercial DVDs play successfully on Windows XP and the discs written by DVDSP don't, then I have to assume that there's something wrong with either DVDSP or my use of it.
Currently I'm shooting out on the road right now, so I can't do much, but I wonder if these are some potential solutions:
    1. Reinstall DVDSP (unlikely to be successful since this problem has persisted throughout many upgrades and several generations of top-of-the-line Macs.)
    2. Upgrade to a DVD-5 burner. (Can anyone recommend a good piece of hardware? Will this make my projects more like commercial discs?)
    3. Move some things around in VTS view to solve potential problems(I've never done much with this, so I could use some help)
    4. Switch to some other DVD authoring software
Although I philosophically agree that the problem resides in Windows XP, I have to make this my problem on behalf of the thousands of clients of my clients across the country. They just don't have the ability to 'Make the Switch.' And when they rent a commercial disc at Blockbuster and it works on their machine, and my disc doesn't, it makes me (AND Apple) look bad.
I can't believe that I'm the only person to have this problem, but I haven't found anything else on the discussion board. Hopefully it's something that I'm doing. It would be the first time in my experience that there would be an inherent problem within any Mac problem. Thanks for any help out there.

  • I used to see a monthly "Feb 2014" photo stream category in my library for each month.  Now all of my photo stream photos (from my iPhone) are under "iCloud" under "Sharing" and I don't know how to get my pix out of there and separate them into libraries

My computer has changed how it accepts photos from my phone.  They used to post into a library by the month and year, e.g., "Feb 2014 photo stream," but now all of the photos from my phone for the past year or so are lumped together into the "Shared" section under "photo stream." I did not put them there (that I know of) and now don't know how to get them out and into a library where I can categorize them.

The monthly events "Feb2014" will show you all photos that have been imported from "My Photo STream", if you have enabled "Automatic Import" in the "Preferences > iCloud" tab.
The albums you are seeing under "iCloud" are the "Shared Photo Streams" and "My Photo Stream". To import from your "Shared Streams" drag the photos frommthe Shared Streams album to the Projects in the library panel.

  • How to get performance data out of SCOM and into a 3rd party management tool

    Hi
I  am creating an integration between a 3rd party management tool and System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2.  I need to export performance data from SCOM into our application for both HyperV servers and virtual machines. Our application runs on
linux so I cannot do any .NET programming.
What is the best way to do this? I am aware of using the Usage SPF web service but this will not share performance data for the hyperv servers, just the virtual machines .
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
We can use SQL query to get SCOM data out, but about how to send those data into your application, this should be related with how you develop your application.
Here is an article about Operations Manager integation, hope it helps:

This should answer most of your questions.
Converting a current evaluation version to a current retail version
You can convert the evaluation version of Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard to either Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (retail) or Datacenter (retail). Similarly, you can convert the evaluation version of Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter to the retail version.
Before you attempt to convert from evaluation to retail, verify that your server is actually running an evaluation version. To do this, do either of the following:
From an elevated command prompt, run slmgr.vbs /dlv; evaluation versions will include “EVAL” in the output.
From the Start screen, open Control Panel. Open System and Security, and then System. View Windows activation status in the Windows activation area of the System page. Click View details in Windows activation for more information about your Windows activation
    status.
If you have already activated Windows, the Desktop shows the time remaining in the evaluation period.
If the server is running a retail version instead of an evaluation version, see the “Upgrading previous retail versions of Windows Server to Windows Server 2012 R2” section of this topic for instructions to upgrade to Windows Server 2012.
For Windows Server 2012 Essentials: You can convert to the full retail version by entering a retail, volume license, or OEM key in the command slmgr.vbs.
If the server is running an evaluation version of Windows Server 2012 Standard or Windows Server 2012 Datacenter, you can convert it to a retail version as follows:
If the server is a domain controller, you cannot convert it to a retail version. In this case, install an additional domain controller on a server that runs a retail version and remove AD DS from the domain controller that runs on the evaluation version. For
    more information, see
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh994618.aspx.
    Read the license terms.
From an elevated command prompt, determine the current edition name with the command DISM /online /Get-CurrentEdition. Make note of the edition ID, an abbreviated form of the edition name. Then run DISM /online /Set-Edition:<edition ID> /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
/AcceptEula, providing the edition ID and a retail product key. The server will restart twice.
For the evaluation version of Windows Server 2012 Standard, you can also convert to the retail version of Windows Server 2012 Datacenter in one step using this same command and the appropriate product key.
