  • How to get bitmaps in Mail?

I can't believe that this has not been resolved.  I received an email with a Device Independent Bitmap .dib file and it shows up as an html question mark.  It is not shown as an attachment and can't be downloaded.  An older post (from 2008) that did not resolve the problem indicated you could go to gmail and download the attachment.  A slow workaround but I expect it would work.  I copied the message to outlook express and opened it from there.  Any know how to view bitmap attachments from Mail?

I see this issue with emails from Windows (Exchange) clients. In my case, if I right-click on the blue question mark icon I get a pop-up menu option to Download Image. Select that and the .bmp attachment will be saved to your Downloads location. A workaround at least!
    Hope that helps.

  • How to get rid of Mail stuck in Apple Mail Exchange Inbox?

I have my Exchange 2007 Account set up in Apple Mail.  Recently, there is one email (duplicated about 10 times) that I can't delete.  Every time I try to delete, I get an ambigious Exchange error message.  I've tried deleting and re-provisioning the account, but that doesn't work.  I don't have this issue when accessing my Exchange account from a PC or other Apple Devices, only from my MacbookPro Apple Mail.  How can I clear this and delete these stuck emails?  Thank you.

Click and hold an icon until they all start jiggling and a X appears. Click the X to delete the partial download.

  • How to get back lost mail and Shutdown problems?

    Dear Apple Users and Support,
I recently did an idiotic thing and managed to turn one of my mail boxes where I collected mail from 2-3 of my friends totally into junk. I remember highlighting all the message and was attempting to move them to a new mailbox/folder but then accidentally hit JUNK. Nothing happened so I assumed that I was alright. But when I opened my MAIL app yesterday I noticed all those messages were gone. I'm assuming they were marked as JUNK and due to my settings erased them when I quit the program.
So my question is, how can I get those letters back? I had time machine back up about a week ago. Which would mean I would only lose like 5-6 messages total in the end. Is there a way I can use TIME MACHINE to get a specific inbox back in my MAIL?
Also, my other option I think is because I pull my mail from the Gmail server and I leave the mail in Gmail, I might be able to pull all the messages that are still sitting on Gmail with the addresses that I need. Is there a way I can tell my MAIL to get all the messages from certain addresses off the server again from Gmail? I assuming there's a parameter that shuts down after retrieving the mail the first time, because otherwise it would constantly pull the same messages off the gmail server.
Finally, for the past year, my MAIL app has been acting up, and I can never "Quit" out of it as normal. I usually have to Force Quit out of Mail to shut it down. Like 90% of the time it wont' shut down without me Force Quitting it. Any suggestions to stop this problem?
Thank you for any assistance, those e-mails mean alot to me!
    Thanks!
    Tomes

In your case, immediately stop using this phone memory card in case of further data loss and then, try to use take chances with some data recovery programs.
I have ever had some data recovery success with the guidance of this video tutorial.
Of course, also learn a lesson to make data backups all the time.
I hope these words work for you.

  • How to get rid of mail number on e-mail icon?

How do I get rid of the red mail count number from e-mail icon?

Normally the number that appears in the red circle on your Mail app refers to the number of unread emails you have. Sometimes though the Mail app gets confused and doesn't work properly. If you are seeing that big number and are sure that you have no unread emails, then I suggest quitting the Mail app like I describe and then reset your device. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • How to get separate family mail accounts

Our mail server has allowed us to have five email accounts,-dad, mom, and three children. How do we set mail to get mail from only one account. ie-how does dad go onto the server and get dads mail and leave the others there? As it is now when I get mail I get mail for all of the accounts.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The only way to do so is by creating a separate computer login account for each family member (with admin privileges for Dad's or Mom's account -depending on who has the single admin account now and create non-admin accounts for each child).
This way, each user/family member has their own login account and Home folder/directory to store their data only with each creating their email account only with the Mail.app under their login account. OS X is designed for multiple users of the same computer in this way with each user's Home folder/directory kept separate and protected from each user. Each user can set up their own Desktop background, screen saver and personal settings, etc. so when each user logs into their account, it seems like their own computer not shared by anyone else. There is also a Shared folder in each user's Home folder/directory to place files that need to be shared among other user accounts.
I'm not sure but I believe Fast User Switching is available with Panther and if so, this makes the process of switching between user login accounts a fast and easy process.
You can also disable automatic login which requires each user to manually enter their login password to gain access to their account, Home folder/directory and all data stored within along with access to their email account only with the Mail.app.

  • How to get filename from mail attachment

    Hi all,
I have a XI scenario Mail->XI->RFC. I have created my own adapter module which handle all attachments from incoming mail.
Everything work fine, but in my module I try to get information about filename of mail attachment. I use getContentType() metod to get the filename but this method return only the mimetype of the document. The getDescription() method return olny string "mail attachment". I need to get the original filename of the attachment or at least the file extension.
Is it possible to get the whole filename from mail attachment?
    Thanks
    Peter

  • HOW TO GET RID OF MAIL?

I have updated to Snow Leopard. If I go into Mail and delete the stuff I don't want and then empty the trash it disappears. If I then log out of Mail and log in again it all reappears in my InMail box. Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding something?

One of the Mail quirks in my (former) iMac G5 was that an old email from a folder of saved emails (2005) insisted on residing in the Inbox. If I deleted that one, another one from the 2005 folder took its place. I finally gave up and ignored it.
The G5 crashed last week, and I am the excited/frustrated owner of a new iMac (24"). The hard drive from the iMac G5 was fine (thank goodness), so everything was transferred over.
I have had problems with Mail (mostly regarding sending) but think they've been resolved... except that instead of one 2005 email lingering in the Inbox, I have multiple copies of the same one!!! I have tried deleting them in a variety of ways and finally deleted the entire 2005 folder. If I leave the Inbox, I return to find usually 5-7 copies, but it can be 4-9.
I also cut and pasted all the desired emails into a new 'Inbox backup' folder to see if that would help in some way. It didn't.
The email is listed in the Inbox as being from me (to an unknown recipient), but when I click on it, it's completely blank.
Another problem, and I don't know if it's related or not, is that when I had to go thru the server web site to send emails, I could see all the emails just fine. Two days ago, I noticed that the font was goofy on the emails, but when I clicked on 'Reply,' they were fine. I've also noticed that the font has been a bit goofy on a couple of blogs.
I went to the Fontbook and verified all the fonts. There was one with 'severe' problems and several with likely problems, and I deleted them all.
Is there anything else I should try? Compared to others' problems, this is pretty dinky, but I'd love to get it fixed if possible!!!
    Thanks!

  • How to Get Yahoo Push Mail to Work on the iPhone- Finally

I post this for the benefit of all of you struggling with this same problem and how to resolve it.
I talked to AppleCare this morning and this is what they said that Yahoo push start working- the first thing that has after spending several solid useless days trying every other recommendation on various forums, none of which worked. Here is what they said to do:
    1. Restore completely, without having the backup restore onto the iPhone.
    2. Delete all of your email accounts on the iphone (I did this first before doing #1 to see if the remainder would work without a restore, but it did not, but when I went back and did #1 first it worked).
    3. Re-enter all of your e mail accounts, beginning with the non-yahoo accounts first- very important. Be sure to set up at this time whether you want them manually to check or every 15 minutes for mail, etc., BEFORE you set up or enter the Yahoo account.
    4. Then, after the above, enter the Yahoo account.
The support guy told me that for some reason changing how often the send receive occurs (manually, etc.) AFTER first setting up the yahoo account somehow overwrites information for the yahoo account and keeps the push from working. He said he had solved the push for a number of people following the procedure, and I agree, it did work.
Whether it will keep working I am skeptical! Also, I meant to ask, but did not: Does this mean that if I now ever change how often the iPhone checks for mail will it now overwrite the yahoo information and cause the push to stop working again, meaning I have to do the above steps again.
Finally, the push is not instantaneous, but is in about 2 minutes or so, at least from what I have seen- a lot better than every 15 minutes.

Sorry it did not work for you. Call Apple at 800-myiphone- maybe they can help.

  • TS4002 How to get back my Mail columns?

My Apple Mac Mail used to have From, To, Subject, Attachment, etc., columns.  They disappeared after switching to Mountain Lion and iCloud.  Is there any way I can get them back?  I could not find such settings (as previously) under the View menu bar.

It's nothing to do with iCloud. It now appears like that by default no matter what email account you use since Lion was released over a year ago.
