How to get my itunes on my new macBook pro

Howw do I get my itunes on my new MacBook Pro?

The application should be pre-installed.  If you mean transfer a library:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.

I have just received a new macbook pro (Merry Christmas) and am trying to figure out how to transfer my music from my iPhone to the MBP.

You can copy only your User folder using Migration Assistant.
This will bring over all your user data (emails, application settings, bookmarks, Music, Movies, Documents, etc.)
Copying the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder will copy the entire iTunes library.
This is done when using Migration Assistantl to copy your user folder.

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPad but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPad with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.
also, there are PhoneView and iRip.

Follow the steps listed here under the section titled "External Drive".  Once you find the location of the iTunes Media folder you can transfer it over a netork connection, rather than using an external drive.

I started my iTunes account on my Dell Desktop years ago and want to know how to import my files onto my new MacBook Pro?

    It should be in Favorites.
If not, click on the desktop then go to Finder menu > Preferences > Sidebar and tick Music.
Your Music folder is in Macintosh HD > Users > Your username.

  • HT1329 My large iTunes library is on an external hard drive. Can I set up iTunes on my new Macbook Pro and copy the library to it or are there any pitfalls?

I have my large iTunes library on an external hard drive. Can I set up ITunes on my new Macbook Pro and transfer/copy this library to the internal hard drive or are there any problems I should be aware of?

ITs an old Iomega 100gb external HD that has about 90gb of music on it. The Macbook has a 500gb HD. I would like to put the iTunes library on the internal HD so I have room to expand.

You can copy it to the internal hard drive as long as it fits on it. How big is your library, and how big is your internal HD?
The only thing you do not want to do is over-stuff the internal hard drive. The OS needs some space to operate correctly, so if your iTunes library uses up more than say 80 to 85% of the internal HD's available space it may not be a good idea to transfer it over.
With that said, the internal HD will provide slightly faster access to the library than the external would, but other than that, you can point iTunes to the external drive just fine.

I suspect security software or a firewall is your problem.

  • How to enable automatic punctuation on a new MacBook Pro with retina?

Can you tell me how to enable automatic punctuation on a new MacBook Pro with retina? Thanks

In which application?  (There is no system wide punctuation.)
And how is the computer supposed to know what is the correct punctuation?  For example "Let's eat, Mom!" versus "Let's eat Mom!"  (Sort of depends upon whether your computer has weathered the zombie apocalypse, I guess.)

  • How quick to export HD footage on new Macbook Pro?

I have a mid 2007 Macbook Pro (2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 gig memory, 7200 rpm hard drive) and will be editing HD footage soon. I've been told I should avoid it with my laptop though it seems to work fine on the whole.
What it does seem slow on is exporting and was wondering if someone could help me judge this....
I exported a Quicktime Movie of 2 mins 59 secs of XDCam EX footage shot at 35 mbs and it took 10 mins 51 secs. (I put a couple of lower thirds on it and few video tracks.) Just how does this hold up against a new Macbook Pro? Is this good or bad?
    Thanks

do some searching here.  My experience has been to set up my xdcam sequences  to render as prores.  I thought this sped things up as I think every bit of an xdcam sequence has to be rendered even if you're exporting with current settings, but I seem to remember a recent thread saying this wasn't true.

  • How to migrate PowerBook G4 Tiger to new MacBook Pro 15" Lion via ethernet cable? Migration Assistant to old to update, apparently.

How to migrate PowerBook G4 Tiger to new MacBook Pro 15" Lion via ethernet cable? Migration Assistant to old to update, apparently.

Ah, a Powerbook. I miss that.  Anyways, I believe that the Powerbook G4 has an Firewire 400/800 port.  Why don't you do that?  It's fast, and you don't have to set up one of those funky reverse wire ethernet cables.  I wouldn't use Migration Assistant, but that's just me.  Too many issues.  I'd start up your brand new MacBook Pro and during the setup assistant, it'll ask you to transfer data from an older Mac.  Using firewire with a Target Disk Mode, it's pretty fast.
If you have already opened up your new Mac and are using it, then use Migration assistant, but also with the Firewire (preferably 800).

  • TS3512 I'm having trouble authorizing iTunes on my new macbook pro due to authorization on computers I no longer have. How do I deauthorize laptops and desk tops I no longer have?

New MacBook Pro 15" won't authorize my iTunes to sync with my other Apple devices, iPad, iMac, iPod and other MacBook Pro 17" since I have authorized other devices (5 is the limit) that I no longer own.
How do I get passed this severe limitation? I also assume that my Apple TV won't be alowed to sync due to this limitation as well... any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Sign into your account in iTunes - from that page you should be able to deauthorise ALL 5 authorised computers - supposedly you can do this once a year.
Thereafter any devices you no longer have will be deauthorised, and you can reauthorise those you still have or are new.

  • HT1414 having bought a new MacBook, I wanted to Sync my iPhone4 to it, but it insists the only method to do so is to "Erase and Sync" or "Cancel" which leaves no option to just use iTunes on the new MacBook Pro - how annoying is that???

I have had the iphone4 for 2 years now and I bought a new MacBook Pro, opened iTunes and it knew I already had other machines with iTunes sync'ed with it but it still insisted on offering one option or sync'ing with new MacBook - "Erase and Sync", which means deleting EVERYTHING on the iphone. What if I want my iPhone to dictate and get iTunes on the Macbook to match up with the iPhone??? Or at least get iTunes to relate to what my iTunes account obviously has on it and update that way. Come on Apple, as per usual, very pretty but not very practical!!!

You can only sync everything with your one syncing computer/iTunes library. Yu can:
    - Make this your syncing computer by:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
    - Use the manual method to copy music and videos from any computer/iTunes library to the iPod. See the manual method included here:
