How to get NB100-11R to automatically connect to WLan on logon

I've just bought a NB100-11R netbook.
First time I started it up, I went to the network admin panel to set up wifi access.
It had detected my wireless network, so I entered the WPA password and it connected just fine. I saved those settings as a network location.
Next time I started up I expected it would it remember those settings, and connect automatically, but I couldn't get web access.
Looking at the network admin, it sill had my network listed as the wireless connection, but I had to unlock the panel, reselect my location, and click the "apply location as the current configuration" button, before it would give me web access, I have to do this every time I restart, which is going to get irritating.
Is there any way to get to connect automatically when I start up?

Thanks for all your help gcogger. It took a while, and some help from someone on the launchpad forum, to sort out why I couldn't access Synaptic. Once that was sorted I tried following the instructions on the WICD website to install it through Synaptic, but kept running into problems. In the end I managed to find a link to a .deb installer, and that's done the trick. Network connection working perfectly now. Feels like Linux is a pretty steep learning curve, but I know a lot more now than I did when I got the NB100, so I'm making progress.

Hi, I got an EE Harrier about 3 weeks ago for the wifi calling (confirmed by the EE shop staff....) only to discover that it's not actually available yet - oh well. My question is how can I get the phone to pick up my home wifi automatically? Obviously as I leave the house it loses the wifi but I have to manually connect it every time when I come back in. i know on other Android phones there's a 'Smart Network Switch' but the Harrier doesn't seem to have that, or if it does it's well hidden. Can anyone help please? TIA

Hi Glossopian, did you find a remedy to this? I just renewed my contract and upgraded my phone to the harrier. Like you my last phone automatically connected to any wi fi I had already entered a password into including home, holiday accomodation, pubs etc. Now I have to manually tell it to connect every time I go out into the garden and come back into the house. Very frustrating!

In your topic title, you say youre running separate instances
In your body text, you say you are under different user/schema
So tell me, do you have more than one database or not? How many entries in your TNS file?
I would say, for "multiple database instances"

How to get MP3 to pla automatically

I have minimal experience with action scripting. I was able
to script a play button and a stop button but I cant figure out how
to get the mp3 to play automatically.
Id like the mp3 to load when the page opens while retaining
the ability to operate the play and stop button oncce youre the swf
is playing.

Sorry about the typo before load -> loadSound
To get music to play frame page to page when a new HTML file
is loaded is very straight forward with Frames, but if you want to
avoid them then you will have to store information about the
current position of the sound file and then read it back in on the
next page.
You can use SharedObjects (do a search in Help for
sharedobjects) for this but remember that your sound will stop and
then start as the HTML pages unload and then load.
There is also a post on this forum by RFsantos who is trying
to do the samething. You might try seeing if he got the
SharedObjects to work.

TS1398 How do I get my iPad to automatically connect to the wifi without me having to put in the password every time?

I have set up 6 iPads to work in my school. It took a while to get there but I got there!
My problem now is that I don't seem to be able to get them to connect to the wifi automatically without having to put the password in every time. I got the first one to do it but I did that one a while ago and can't seem to remember what I did differently!!

turn off all of the ipads, (not put them to sleep but turn them off) then unplug your Wi-Fi router for 2 mins. Plug it back in and when all the lights are (green or blue, depends on who makes the router) turn on one ipad and then connect it, wait 3 mins and turn on the other and connect it, do this for each iPad and it should fix the problem.

How to get Mavericks server that is connected to a UPS to restart automatically after a power outage.

This is driving me crazy. Is there anyone running Mavericks as a mission critical server on Backup Power Supplies that has a way to get the servers to restart automatically after a power outage. The UPS vendors all have software for Windows, but not Macs, and the setting in System Preferences, doesn't work with the UPS's Iv'e tried (2 different APC models (Smart and Back-UPs), one Triplite (Smart) and one CyberPower, (all claiming to be Mac compatible))

APC do apparently still do a command-line daemon (PowerChute Network Shutdown) which monitors over the network the UPS and will cleanly shutdown the Mac. For lower-end UPS devices these are typically connected via a USB cable and the built-in Apple System Preferences let you control the options - if it is a model supported. There is however a big limitation of using a USB connection which is that you can only connect a single computer to a UPS via USB and of course most companies have multiple servers.
It maybe that what is happening even if you use APC's software is the following -
Power failure detected by UPS
Signal sent to Mac
Computer does a clean shutdown
Power restored
UPS has no way to tell Mac because it is shutdown and Mac does not support 'Wake on LAN' if fully shutdown
The Mac does have an option to 'Startup automatically after a power failure'. However this might only take place if the Mac is not cleanly shutdown, it could be that if the Mac is cleanly shutdown it does not count this as a power failure. If this is correct then there is nothing that can be done as users to resolve this, the only way it could be resolved would be if Apple provided a way for a tool like APCs software to both do a clean shutdown and set a flag as this being due to a power failure so that when the Mac does detect the power being restored it triggers the Mac in to booting.
In the dim and distant past when Macs used ADB to connect keyboards and mice the ADB interface did support an external power-on signal. This does not exist for USB.
Personally I have regarded the APC software (PowerChute Network Shutdown 3.0.1) to be so badly supported and so old as to be too risky to use. It lists 10.7 and 10.8 but not 10.9 and uses Java 1.6 which itself is unsupported. There is a third-party tool you might want to look at called NUT (Network Ups Tools) see http://www.networkupstools.org
NUT is free and lets you do clever things like -
Connect a single computer via serial or USB to the UPS
Act as a 'server' over the network to other computers sharing the UPS
When power failure is detected the NUT 'server' sends a signal to the NUT 'clients' so all of them know that there is a power failure and can do their own clean shutdowns
This gets round only being able to connect a single computer via USB.

The more fundamental problem is that except for an indication of whether or not it has been initialized and perhaps the number of bytes in the port buffer, a serial port doesn't have any sort of real status. RS232 communications simply isn't that sophisticated. For what it's worth, unless the device you are working with is very old, monitoring the handshake lines probibly won't tell you anything because most modern serial device don't use any handshaking.

How to get rid of Robosource SCCAPI connection

Hi everybody,
I am getting an error "Error initializing RoboSource SCCAPI connection" every time when i start MS Visual Studio 2008. After launching, it also asks for RS03 MiddleTier Service, though I have disabled it in the services settings.
How can I get rid of it?
What is the connection between RoboHelp (SCCAPI connection) and Visual Studio?
Wht is the RS03 MiddleTier Service?

Hi there
Just an educated guess here. I believe the RSO3 Middle Tier is (or may be) related to RoboSource Control. Either that or it's related to RoboHelp's built in ability to work with other source control systems.
So how did you disable it? I'd like to but as yet have never actually found where I can!

How to get libraries to deploy automatically

I have successfully integrated Crystal Enterprise with my uix, bc4j application.
There is a set of libraries, jar files that I added to the additional classpaths section in JDeveloper.
However, when I deploy the application to 9iAS, these libraries do not deploy along with the application. I have to add them manually to the application in 9iAS.
Does anyone know how to setup JDeveloper so that these libraries will deploy automatically?

As I mentioned, the Crystal Reports libraries do get included in the EAR file from JDeveloper. However, when I try to run the Crystal Report, it does not know where the libraries are located.
For Oracle Application Server 9i, I need to go to the additional libraries area and add their locations in manually.
This page can be found as follows:
1. log on to Application Server as the administrator.
2. in the system components section click on the OC4J instance that has the application that needs the library locations added.
3. on the next page, click on the application needing the library locations added.
4. Click on the "General" link towards the bottom of the page.
5. In the middle of the page, you will see the "Library Paths" section. Click on the "Add Another Row" button and type in the path from the root drive (like c:\...) including the jar file name.
An example from my environment is:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\jars\Serialization.jarJust keep adding rows until you have all the needed library paths added in.
I hope this helps.

I need to get in Labview some variables from Teststand. The VI I wrote use "Get Property Value" from Teststand and works fine... when I specify the type of variable I whant from Teststand (Boolean, I32,...).
But I need a VI which retrieve the value of my variable independently of the variable type.
I tried to set the type option "Automatic" but the "Get Property Value" always give back an empty array of boolean....
How works the "Automatic" option by the "Get Property Value"?
Is there a possibility in Labview to get the type of a Teststand variable?

the "automatic" feature is no feature but an entry made because of the
polymorphic design of the "get property value" VI. if you would change
the order of the VIs contained in the polymorphic VI, you would
retrieve other kind of values.
therefore never use the automatic setting of this VI. the
simplest way to solve such thing is to pass the data in variant and an
additional numeric value for identifying the type of the value.
