How to get normal bios [aspire switch 10 1st gen]

Hey everyone I wanted to boot Android on my aspire switch from a live-cd USB. However, even when I put USB drive as the first item in the boot order list, it still boots Windows. Also, Acer's bios seems to be much more limited than those on normal computers. Is there any way to get past Acer's bios and into a normal, old command-line-esque bios where there are more options?

No, it's not possible to have the old fashioned BIOS style; Switch 10 is a modern device.

Try deleting the account from the iPod and reentering the settings. It is easy to make an error and notbe able find it.

How can I get into BIOS and how can I re-dedicate graphics memory-use there? (Maybe my other's post was too special...)

Oh, THAT's interesting to learn that chances are high, they either changed the whole mobo, or the system wouldn't run stable with damaged graphics memory...(An ugly one: would it be worth exchanging the mobo and do all that counterfeiting data just for the value of the old mobo???) Here's what I found so far: (I used "SIW System Information for Windows"-tool to get the following data, among a lot of other)- Serial-# matches my serial-# as per the original packaging, paperwork and bottom of the machine- Model 103C_5335KV (another way to denote the model KP964EA/dv9787eg?)- NVIDIA 8600M GS with (only) 256MB DDR2 64bits- dedicated video memory 239MB (251199488)- dedicated system memory 0MB- shared system memory 1279MB (1341353984)- Mobo is a Quanta 30CB 79.2E (no serial-# found/supplied by SIW!) I will check the hardware again by "reading out" data with Fn+Esc and/or CPUZ and GPUZ and report back (as said, I think the info there said KP964EA already - just to make sure)... Just for the guessing or "narrowing the problem down":IF my system was running on 256MB before already (and hp advertised wrong data for my rig) - so no change there - what else might cause my games running roughly now and be a reason for the dropped performance-index in windows?Possible that the graphics chip is able to perform with 256MB only and I would need another version of the 8600M GS which IS able to make use of the 512? (Guess no, as the above info TELLS me that there is only 256MB - and no 512MB - available, right?)CAN that be related to some software or driver?Would/might setting up windows anew (or changing from Vista to 7 for that matter) might bring me back to speed? How can I hibernate my Aspire Switch 10E?

Hello, I have a recently purchased Acer Aspire Switch 10 E. Since I purchased it I have not had the option to hibernate the computer. I know that the OS, Windows 8.1, by default often does not have the option to hibernate, but even when I go to control panel, power options and change settings that are currently unavailable I do not have the option to hibernate. I have updated windows and drivers, went to the registry to check it allows for hibernation and used some command line tools but still no option. I was begining to think that perhaps the device is not capable of hibernation as it seems others with this pc have the same issue, but I found that in the advanced power option the default for critcal power action is to hibernate. As I use several programs on this pc while travelling and meeting clients, it is important that I can retain work in progress over long periods where putting it to sleep will just loose the battery and restarting work after a full shutdown is impractical so any advice would be gratefully recieved. Try this:
Open Power Options by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Power options in the search box, and tapping or clicking Power options.
Tap or click Choose what the power button does and under Shutdown settings, select Hibernate (if it's available).

And if you are a member of the iOS Developer Program, you should know that you can't just give beta software to your friends. You would also know that the iOS 8 developer seed is absolutely not ready for general use. It's given to developers so that they can begin to program for the new features and that they're strongly cautioned not to install it on any device they want to actually use.
The bottom line is that if you are eligible for this seed, you have access to all the information you need on how to get the seed and use it. If you don't have access to this information, then you're not eligible to legally obtain the seed, and probably really shouldn't be messing with it.

If it's confirmed as a hardware failure, Apple does not repair iPods, but will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:

There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to replace the problem for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". I'm not sure I'd spend any money to repair a first-generation iPod touch, though. It's too limited in the applications it can run now.

I tried everything, pressing ESC after power-up,F1, ESC/F1, F2....i cannot get into the bios.
What is the proper procedure to get into the BIOS? I used the latest BIOS 1.70 from Toshiba homepage, i remember i didn't have this problem with the older bios.
Furthermore, what are correct temps for the CPU under extreme load as well as VGA testing with OCCT/Furmark or everest?
If i run OCCT (extreme CPU stress test) i am getting some extreme numbers up to 95 degree on the CPU...

It was indeed the case that any standard VGA resolution (like bios screen and bootup screen) was not displayed on the laptop!
Thats why i only saw a black screen!
I plugged an external monitor on it, and i see i am actually in BIOS.
So i went into the BIOS (using the other monitor) and changed the the setting "Analog + External", and now it works and i also have the toshiba logo back and everything

IPhone Os - TabBarController - how to get notified of view switch ?

I'm running into an issue with TabBarControllers.
I have an OpenGl view in a first tab that auto-refresh at 30 fps.
When I switch to the second view using the TabBar I was hoping that the viewWillDisappear method would be invoked so I could stop the openGl refresh timer but it seems that it's never called.
What is the proper way to implement that ?

Implement tabBar:didSelectItem: in the tab bar delegate. If only the first view controller needs to catch this message you could make that controller the delegate. Otherwise you could use the app delegate (note that you shouldn't subclass the tab bar controller).
I'm not sure whether the delegate message is sent before or after the transition. But you want to fire the timer at the view controller instead of the view anyway, right? In that case I don't think you'll need to care whether the message is before or after (I think it's before, but just not sure. Easy enough to check!).

How to get rid of automatic indenting of 1st line of paragraph?

I am somewhat new to this, have taken a RH8 course, but I'm baffled. When I generate any type of output, the first line in a paragraph is indented a wee bit. I am importing a FM 9 file (but don't believe the problem stems from FM; I have checked the paragraph tags). In my CSS, text-indent is set to 0.000pt. If I look at the HTML source, there are three non-breaking spaces that cause the indent I don't want. Anyone know at what point these get generated? They seem to just show up out of nowhere. Please tell me - what am I missing?

Hi, the only thing I can think of as the reason you are getting non-breaking spaces (i.e.  ) is if you have spaces in your FrameMaker paragraphs. Please check your source FrameMaker files and even do a search for three spaced by selecting Edit > Find/Change. Enter 3 spaces in the Find box by pressing the space bar three times. Once you find these and delete them, save the file and "update" your files in RoboHelp, this indent should be removed.

How to get 2nd app to write to 1st app "System.In"?

Hey, I am trying to build a program that will control another program. It will do this by reading the output of the program and then sending it information as if a user had typed it in.
The problem is that the 2nd app (referred from here on as the "CONTROLLER"), when run, hangs on the spot where the 1st app (referred from here on as the "HOST"), is waiting for "System.in" input.
So the CONTROLLER will read the first line, display it, but then where it is supposed to wait for the user to type something in and write it to the HOST (which is using System.in for input), it hangs up. Because I have the .close() method inside my methods, it now at least closes the app instead of freezing.
I've read http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html "When Runtime.exec() won't", and it doesn't really address my problem except to say "Thus, to circumvent the second pitfall -- hanging forever in Runtime.exec() -- if the program you launch produces output or expects input, ensure that you process the input and output streams."
Which is fine, but I don't know how to handle the HOST using System.in waiting for input in my CONTROLLER app. Anyone got a method I can use for this? Here is the code.

If you notice, I have the InputStream already initialized and then buffered, and the process is initializing correctly (to the point where it asks for System.in input).
