methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists, ratings, counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search if the links below leave you wanting…

After recovering your song files, consider developing a backup strategy for just this type of situation. Below are some very good threads to read on the subject:

  • How to get photos off my iPod that were on a app?? PLEASE HELP _ !!!

I dropped my cracked iPod touch 4th generation in water and now it's just done. The touch doesn't work anymore (by that I mean I cant touch it anymore, I cant slide it open or slide it to turn it off). It wouldn't really be a big problem cause I plugged a USB cord in my iPod into my laptop and it downloaded all my photos from my iPod onto my laptop. The problem is I had a lock app (that kind of app that you can keep private stuff in/the app you need a password for) and I had many pics of memories on there that I will never get back. They didn't download onto my laptop like the rest cause they are not technically on my iPod, they're on a app.  I have been trying to find a way to get those pics onto my laptop but with my iPod unable to open I have just given up. I would take it to a shop but they would probably just reset it and delete everything. You guys are my last hope. Is there ANY way I can some how save those pics?? If not tell me because keeping this iPod around is just saddening :/ PLEASE HELP! (I don't know if this is useful information but My Ipod was NOT a IOS 7, it was a 6 something.. I dont remember exactly but It was not a 7, but a 6. something)

Can you backup the iPod? If so then either:
    - Restore another iPod touch, iPad or iPhone for that backup
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you have an iTunes backup you may be able to extract the photos from the backup by:

  • How to get name off my ipod?

how do i get my name changed or removed from my devise?

You can change the name of the iPod by double clicking its current name in iTunes from under the Devices section in the left hand pane and typing in a new one.
What is it you are trying to do exactly?  Are you wanting to remove everything from the iPod?  If so, perform a full restore of the device in iTunes. This process wipes all media/content from the iPod and sets it back to its original default settings.

  • How to get pictures off my ipod to new computer

    hi
i have like 900 pictures on my ipod touch. and im synching to my new mac. but it doesnt synch the pictures from the ipod touch, is this like the same thing where the music is locked into the ipod ?
    thanks

similar, it's more to do with the lack of disk mode on the iPod touch, meaning you can only sync one way (unless they are itunes purchases, which will sync both ways)
    three options
    1) copy them from your old mac to your new one using the same method you did for copying any other documents (assuming you're just upgrading and didn't get a new one because your old one was dead)
    2) email them from your ipod to yourself (since 3.0 you can email more than one photo at a time, but quality may not be great)
    3) google 'ipod to computer' (or 'ipod to mac' maybe), and download some of the third party software which will allow you to move things the other way. there is a lot out there, some is free, some is not. you could also search these forums, there are many threads, some of which list some good third party software for the job.
    hope that helps

  • How to get files off my ipod download manager to put on my new coumputer without wifi

i just got my dads old sony viao and it does not have a built in wireless card so my dad gave me his old one it does not auto install so i can not get internet service and have no flash drive so i downloaded a download manager to my ipod and downloaded the driver but cant get the files to my computer any ideas
    ps do not own itunes

Itunes is required for using an ipod.
You cannot update, restore, sync, etc without it.
Ipod touch is NOT  a storage device.  You will need wi-fi to use any apps that provide storage.

  • How to get music off my Ipod

My PC crashed and i lost all my Music (thousands of songs). I didn't back the music up, but it is all on my Ipod - is there anyway to take music from my Ipod and put it onto my PC??? Is there an accessory/piece of software that will allow me to do this.
Help is needed very badly!!!!! A confirmation that there is no way to transfer the music back would be just as welcome as a way to do so - I just want know wether it is or isn't possible.
    Any comments welcome, thanks.
Dell Dimension 8400 (i think)   Windows XP

You can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
If you haven't already done so, change the update setting for your iPod to manual. If you are using the iPod in manual update mode, your iPod is safe from being accidentally erased when you connect to an empty iTunes after reinstalling your operating system. However if your iPod is set to automatically update you will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No*. Pressing "Yes" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual.
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys (on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘) keys). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Then go to Preferences>iPod and check the "Manually manage songs and playlists" box: Managing Your Songs Manually
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are quite cheap these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

  • How to get song off my iPod Touch into iTunes

    Hello,
I just bought a new laptop and I'm trying to get all my music (non of which was purchased from iTunes) into iTunes on my laptop. I've tried a few apps that supposedly do this, but they didn't work and I don't have the option to use my Touch as a hard drive so some directions I found on the net wouldn't work in that situation.
Is there an easy 'free' way to do this with an iPod Touch?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Senuti has just released a beta that does do exactly this. Obviously one accepts that this IS a beta and there are no guarantees, but I tried it yesterday and it caused me no problems. You might want to change the Transfer location in the preferences forst; but then maybe some won't.

  • How to get everything off the iPod and onto a New Drive "C"

Yeah, I lost my "C" Drive, My Documents, My Music, iTunes Music Library, everything.
I have a HUGE Library of Audio Bibles, Audio Books, Lectures and other Spoken Word material currently residing on my iPod. I had to build most of the tagging and artwork for it myself as much of it pre-dates Gracenote.
Is there a procedure I can utilize to copy the material from my iPod onto a New "C" Drive?
Or should I start digging out my back-up disc's and get ready for a long weekend of re-construction?

    or
you can download third party software that will allow you to take the information on your ipod and trasfer it back on to your computer.. you can find these programs at www.versiontracker.com
a few that are free for windows are iPod->Folder 1.2 or YamiPod - 1.0.1
if you use a mac I suggest senuti
all of these can be found on www.versiontracker.com

  • I have an old ipod and want to know how to get everything off it and into my iTunes library.  My old computer died and the original library was lost, so don't have any of the content saved anywhere else.

I have an old ipod (it's the very thin oblong one in purple, the one before the one that does video) and want to know how to get everything off it and into my iTunes library.  My old computer died and the original library was lost, so don't have any of the content saved anywhere else.  I now have an iPhone 5S and listen to music on that, so want to be able to listen to things from the old ipod too.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks very much
    Jane

Apple normally does not get involved in handling lost objects like this.  Since a real name is not installed it will be much more difficult.
You can try contacting Apple support at the US number, assume you are US going to BWI from the listing: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and explain the situation and see if they offer any suggestions.

Hi. I was in bed chewing gum, with my ipod, and i fell asleep. When i woke up, there was gum all over the screen.  Any ideas how to get it off?

Well, you shouldn't use your iPod to chew gum with.  That's what your teeth are for.
Peanut butter and chocolate are good for getting gum out of your hair and off of your clothing....
But you may want to have someone else do this for you....
